What is Hospice? Hospice is a special kind of care serving persons whose life expectancy is measured in months rather than years. Hospice of Salina is a comprehensive team oriented program offering specialized medical care. Our goal is to improve the quality of each patient’s life by offering comfort and dignity. We address all symptoms of a disease, with special emphasis on controlling patient pain and discomfort while understanding that psychological and spiritual pains can be as significant as the physical pain. Hospice services can be provided anywhere. Most often, it is brought to the patient’s own home. For other patients, it might be in a long-term care or assisted living facility. In addition, we are the only hospice provider in Salina that offers patients an alternative to stay at Hospice of Salina’s ‘Kaye Pogue Hospice Center.’ This center meets the needs of persons: Who do not desire to die at home; With compromised caregivers, who can no longer safely stay in their homes; Who need short-term inpatient care for symptom management and caregiver relief, and who require care during the period a spouse is meeting job requirements. The Kaye Pogue Hospice Center also provides for all Hospice of Salina operations in one location. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
