Cloud 9 Chicken Haven

Very good food way better than fast food chicken. Although it’s a little expensive but well worth it!

They do chicken lips, chicken lips, chicken lips, and they do them really well. (FYI, chicken lips = chicken fingers made like buffalo wings). With the Simple menu and every order made fresh makes them consistently great. You can get them different ways so be sure and ask since the menu is very simplified.
I got 4 lips, side of fries, and buffalo Bleu cheese (BBC) dipping sauce. The lips have a really good spice and flavor to them. Not too hot, but good amount of heat. They are meaty so seems like good quality chicken. Fries were hot and had good flavor as well. Each order takes 5 – 10 minutes because they are made to order which is really satisfying. Service was friendly and great presentation for a chicken joint. The Bleu cheese dipping sauce was fine, but I’m not a good judge since I usually just like mine without sauce.
If I’m craving chicken lips or hosting a group for a game, I’d definitely go back and encourage others to try this place instead of your typical buffalo wings.

Unique chicken place. We stopped by on our way through town and we loved it. There aren’t many options but the chicken is great. The owner was very friendly.

Kate is a hoot! They have a ton of new sides and desserts now. The chicken lips are a must try. Very very good.

Love these things. So great for a blast of scrumptious protein. Must get the BBC dip. Wish they had some fries though.

The chicken and the BBC (?) dip were delicious. It’s not the Hot Chicken we have at home, but it was really good. I would liked to have had a bit more selection on the sides. I read the other reviews, but didn’t really get it that chicken and potato salad is all they sell, I think. It was all they had that day. I enjoyed the freshly cooked chicken a lot, and I don’t really need sides anyway. Chicken makes me happy.

Im not a big fan of ‘buffalo wings”, but this chicken was very good. And it only takes 6 minutes to get fresh food. I recommend the beer-​blue cheese dip. The owner is very personable, has great past experience and keeps a clean business. Check this out.

UPDATE: Fries are on the menu, staff is still very friendly, quality still there. Upgraded to 5 stars.
Let me first say that of you’re hesitating trying this place just go, it’s worth it.
After driving by and a Google search showing good reviews I finally decided to give this place a try, and I was not let down. After entering and being greeted by the owner it was explained that the chicken «lips» are giant tenders cut from the beastn floured, fried, sauced, and served fresh. These lips were moist and delicious.
Their tongue-​in-​cheek BBC or beer blue cheese dipping sauce was exploding with flavor and the perfect dip for the lips. The only side dish available is potato salad and it delivers good flavor but was the least special part of the meal.
There are only 2 reasons this place wasn’t perfect for me:
1) the house sauce on the tenders wasn’t quite spicy enough for me. Clearly it’s a flavor set so the whole family can love it from kids to grandparents. It’s full of flavor and delicious but I wanted a bit more kick.
2) the only side dish is potato salad. When I have wings or tenders like this I really want some type of fried potato on the side. These lips are BEGGING to be served with waffle fries. After meeting the owner I’m positive she could come up with some wonderful spin on waffle does that would make them wonderful.
When I return to Salina I will for sure return to Cloud 9. I may go back later this week. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get spicier lips with some fries and take home a bottle of their BBC for my fridge.
One last thing, make sure to check out their Facebook page for a daily deal. I was able to get a free lip by liking their page. Totally worth it.

Been hearing about this so stopped in today. The buffalo sauce they are cooked with is okay but only after ordering did I learn you could order them naked (without the sauce) which is what I’d really prefer so if I go back I’ll remember that. I did try the blue cheese sauce and it was fine but nothing great. I’d just as soon order them naked and use my own bbq sauce once at home. Like the size of the chicken and was good. Not the best location but she seems to have a following so hope it works out.

I should preface this review by saying that I am not a huge fan of buffalo wings and I absolutely loathe white meat. If I had known what style Chicken Lips served, I wouldn’t have come in and if I had known that they only served white meat, I would’ve boycotted the venue simply out of principle. Luckily I had no foreknowledge, otherwise I would have missed out an amazing chicken experience.
As soon as I walked into the store, the owners were warm and eager to explain (and show) to me what they served. The buffalo sauce was not overpowering and was spiced enough to overpower the inherent dryness of the white meat. The texture was simply superb, a hot, crispy blanket overlaying the chicken. Chicken Lips managed to surprise me with amazing taste and texture of their wings.
I still will avoid white meat if given a choice but Chicken Lips has convinced me that it is possible to make white meat palatable.
Don’t just take my word for it, go try it out for yourself!

Huge portions, and delicious homemade sauce! This is a great new lunch or quick dinner option for Salina. The «lips» are so much better than chain restaurant wings. So happy to have this great little place in the neighborhood!
