History
Established in 1947.
The land which the bar sits on was a grainery with three houses on it. Two houses were put together in1915 to make a larger house. Across the street was the ice train where men from the ice train and grainery would stop to grab a sandwitch and a beverage. Eventually in 1947 the first liscence was written. The bar had many names but in the 1960’s, it became the Hideaway Tavern named by Mr. Dick O’niel. In 2005 Tom and DeDe Otto (residents of Salem sence 1976) purchased the bar and house. Their daughter Terrie is now manager of Otto’s Hideaway Tavern.
