Spartan Oil

I literally created a Unilocal account to write this review. We’re switching from oil to gas heat this year and so didn’t sign a contract with our previous oil supplier (which includes a fee for an annual inspection for a boiler we’re weeks away from having removed), hoping we’d be able to make it to the new heating system’s installation before we ran out of oil. Alas, no luck: we ran out of oil in the wee hours of a very cold Friday night. We called our old oil supplier, who told us very curtly that they don’t do weekend deliveries for non-​customers; I asked if they knew who might, was told «check the yellow pages.»
I’m glad they did. We found Spartan oil, called them up on Saturday morning, and by 1pm their truck was pumping oil into our tank. When they were finished, the driver made sure I tried to turn our boiler on to make sure it worked. It didn’t — air got into the lines when the boiler ran dry — and so he happily spent 15 minutes in our basement bleeding the lines and showing me how to restart the boiler when this happens, all gratis.
They require cash for the first delivery to a new customer, and a minimum delivery of 100 gallons, all of which makes sense and wasn’t a problem for us. All in all, they couldn’t have been nicer to work with. If we weren’t switching to gas heat, I would have ditched my old oil company on the spot and signed up with Spartan.
