One of the best Chinese buffets I’ve eaten at. Nice wide selection of seafood. The coconut chicken was the best I’ve had. Not to sweet to overpower the other tastes.

* Average Food & Price * My wife and I have gone to this place several times when I used to live in Revere. This is a good place to eat A LOT of Chinese food at a reasonable price. The food is average — but not greasy — and reasonably priced. I always liked their crab rangoons. They also have a dessert section with a few good treats and ice cream. Tip: To avoid exploding, either:(1) don’t eat so much(But, that defies the whole purpose of eating at a buffet.); or(2) skip the soda and drink the complimentary tea(or water). * Ambiance * The place is spacious, with a full bar and room for big parties(and big people). The bar area has a small sitting section and TVs. * Service * The waiters are sometimes friendly, and are quick at removing finished plates from the table. Just make sure you let them know that you plan on finishing that last piece of chicken, or they’ll scoop up your plate faster than a starving seagull at a clam bake. Also, I would avoid ordering an alcoholic drink, as they often taste weak or watered down. * Bottom Line * If you’re looking to get belly-busting full on descent Chinese food, then head over to this buffet.

Disgusting and rude are an understatement. My boyfriend and I went this past Monday for dinner. Now I realize it’s a Monday, but half the stations had no food in them and what was there looked like it had been sitting there from the day before. That’s the good news. Everything was dried out and/or soggy. When we finally found something palatable(fried shrimp) my boyfriend bit in and found a hair fried into the crust. Barf! When I told the waitress she sent the manager over. She picked at the shrimp for a few seconds, inspecting to see no doubt if we put it there and when she realized it was indeed a straight black hair matching everyone who works there she said… Thank you for letting me know I will go remove the tray. As if I was telling her for their benefit. She then turned and walked away. I was in disbelief. At that point my boyfriend decided to gorge himself on fruit.(the only safe thing to eat there). A few minutes later the manager returned to say that it was probably a customers hair(yah right. it was in the middle of the crust) and that she would remove 25% off the bill. 25%??? How about taking one of the meals off the bill? Needless to say I stopped eating when the hair appeared. As you can imagine there was no tip in their future. Once stuffed to the gills(on FRUIT!) my boyfriend placed money for the cost of the meal under the bill. As we were headed for the door the waitress yelled across the restaurant to us. DIDYOUPAY??? Do I really need to go on with this story? It was like a skit on SNL. I have no idea how places like this stay in business in this economy. You would think customer service would be at the tops of their minds to keep the people coming in who perhaps remember when this was a decent place to eat. Unfortunately the only memory I have is a bad one. Do not waste your hard earned money on Super Barffet.

Just got back a little while ago from this place. It was pretty good but not anything to get your thongs all twisted for. I went before and I think it was better back then. Nothing really jumped out at me as I was scanning the options. I ended up eating cold crab legs, fried calamari, and chicken wings most of my time there. What I did eat was okay but as I said there was nothing that really stood out. Not sure I will be rushing to come here again.

wear your elastic-waisted pants, kids, cause you’re walking out of here at least a pants size larger. you know what’s at a chinese food buffet, i’m sure. if you don’t, just imagine all the appetizers of a chinese food menu laid out in warming trays. add in a couple of the«dishes»(general gau’s chicken, chicken and broccoli, etc.) and you know what’s up. there’s always a bunch of dessert things that LOOK really good but don’t hold up taste-wise, too. anyway. things are always pretty decent here. i’m always very impressed when general gau’s chicken is actually crispy underneath that orangey-red goo, and mandarin’s general tends to hold up. it’s nice. their garlic sauce on the green beans, chicken and broccoli, and mixed vegetables does not overpower, which i greatly appreciate. the chicken-on-a-stick and the chicken wings have great flavor. the chicken wings are the right amount of crispy while maintaining moistness. the soups are yummy in my tummy, and actually have distinct tastes without being oily. sometimes stuff feels more greasy than other times. i’m sure it depends on when you get there, how many people are there, the speed of the turnaround rate, etc. i’ve been there at times where it’s totally dead in there and i’ve had great quality stuff, though, so who knows. i think the service in here is great. my water is always refilled before i run out. a couple people at my table were complaining that they didn’t come right away when they needed new drinks, but i think it’s also because there were 6 of us and everyone came in 3 intervals, so it was a bit confusing for the waitstaff. i’d say it’s our fault, not the workers’ fault. this place is very accommodating to people who need to split up payment 23987 different ways. two people had to pay with two separate credit cards, and the rest of us paid in cash. we were given no problem with this, despite the obnoxiousness of us not being able to pay altogether. i’ve also been here with kids and they loved the crap out of this place. the fried bananas go over super well. i don’t like them but color me picky. i like having contests to see who can eat the most plates of food. as long as i wear sweatpants, i totally win.

The Mandarin Super Buffet used to be awesome wayyy back when they advertised through commercials and sold mac n’ cheese. They are pretty much blahh now. I went there recently w/my bro. We went in between the transitioning hour of lunch and dinner and were consequently sent back home. That was strike 1. Had no idea they close their doors in between meal time changes. Although the waitress was very kind and refilled our glasses with water before they were even half-empty, the food was so-so. The guy who does the teriyaki beef and chicken was not there. Strike 2. My spoon had food on it and this is not the first time they’ve served dirty silverware. Strike 3. I was pretty much in a distrustful and cautious mood after that. There used to be a Chinese Buffet in Danvers/Andover that was about 100 times better: Buffet King. They should replace Mandarin with Buffet King.

an ok, standard chinese buffet joint. chicken and broccoli, spareribs, necessary baked fish dish, sweet and sour soup, egg drop soup, chicken soup, wonton soup, spring rolls, egg rolls, mussels in black bean sauce, lo mein, egg foo young, general gau’s, chicken fingers, fried rice, green beans, crab rangoons, etc etc. not bad. great service. but please… as with any other chinese buffet, when eyeballing the peel and eat shrimp/crab legs, please use caution.
