Established in 1949.

Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons has a longstanding history of professional service to our patients and our community. Founded in 1949, our practice is based on the example set by former Eye Care Physicians, Drs. Peter Rowell, John Wood, W. Andrew Harris and Jack Gow. Today, with our team of five ophthalmologist and four optometrists, Eye Care continues with their same commitment to quality care and optimal patient health.

Parking stinks, which I suppose should be expected for downtown, but it is something to be noted. My husband, toddler and I had to parking over the river and through the woods. Now we’re here for a 10am apt, and it’s almost 11. They said there are still 2 people ahead of us. I’m pretty annoyed that we got here on time, and have been sitting here for an hour, and probably will continue to sit here for another 30 – 60 minutes before we even get into a room.
I’m really hoping the visit with the doctor is a more positive experience because so far, we’re very unimpressed.

Love this office, the receptionist are nice, friendly and professional. The doctor and his assistant were great! Optic 49 staff were very helpful in explaining the out of pocket cost and time frame to receive my new glasses.

I have had only positive experiences at this clinic from the doctors I have seen and the rest of the staff. Inna is especially helpful, warm and caring. She worked out the best deal using our insurance and pointed out frames that are on sale. She is the best! My husband and I would not go anywhere else to sees eye doctors or to buy glasses! Thanks!

One of the most negative experiences ever. Encouraged us to purchase glasses and told us we would be covered. Two years later we get a bill saying we owed them. Called them up and they basically said «sorry, not our problem». Discontinued us as clients and sent the bill to collection with no forewarning. As if we’d ever go back… Terrible.
UPDATE: Following my post, the company sent a letter of apology along with a check. Sad it had to take a Unilocal review, but results are results.

I went in last year to have my lens updated (I have yearly exams so, they have extensive records on my eye sight). Through exam and new glasses prescribed. I went back 2 times for a change in the prescription because things were still blurry. Finally I gave up. This year I saw another physician (not in this group) at the recommendation from a friend. My vision is blurry because I need cataract surgery! Nothing was mentioned at my exam at this facility. I suppose my eyesight could have changed in the last year, but I have been told for years that I have early signs of cataracts. After 2 attempts with correcting the lens, they should have explored the cataract issue more thoroughly. I also agree with several people about the rude and indifferent folks at the front desk. They look like they hate their jobs.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences at Eye Care. I’ve seen Dr. Paluska and he has always been great. I always leave with a perfect prescription and feel that they give great all-​around treatment. The experience is always A+ here, highly recommend it.

Eyecare and Optic 49 are hard to beat. I love them. In the past few years my eye site has changed from what it was when I was in high school. They say that comes with age. Ha! I now have progressive lenses. Go figure. The staff, the Doc, Dr Bob, and the gang in Optic 49, Lisa Yde and staff, helped me adjust to my new «friends» and continue to follow up with how I’m doing, months later. Service is very important to me and these guys excel at it! I always feel like part of the family when I’m there and appreciate everything. Thank you guys!

Staff at both the Keizer and Salem locations were extremely helpful and patient as I looked through almost every frame in the store selecting the perfect pair. Sorry– didn’t get the names, but during my 4 visits I worked with 2 staff — together we found a very flattering pair that I very pleased with.
Also appreciate the 2 year warranty on scratches and the 30 day no charge recut policy on the lenses.

I walked in for my appointment and right off the bat they started telling me I didn’t have any eye care benefits. I finally got the extremely rude receptonist to call and actually talk to a representative, and low and behold I did have insurance and I have a discount plan for my exam and contacts. The exam was fine, but I also had a similar expereince with waiting around an hour to finally be seen by the doctor, not just the exam nurse. I was going to purchase contacts and glasses, but I ended up just purchasing the contacts because I waited in the eye glass area for about 20 mins and nobody even acknowledged that I was there. I was really disappointed with how rude and unprofessional they were. At any rate, I had a small balance that my insurance didn’t cover and when I called in to pay it the staff member I dealt with then was also very rude. Not impressed with this place.

This clinic gives you an impersonal feeling as a patient. They pack the appointments together which leads to a lot of waiting. I was brought back to the exam room, 40 minutes after my appt time. The technician was very friendly and so was the doctor (although the doctor was in the room for not more than 2 minutes).
The receptionists were hit or miss. Upon arriving, the first was very friendly but my experience with the second lady, rubbed me the wrong way. Rude and unfriendly. I was considering this clinic for Lasik but they are off my list, unprofessionally operated, I will take my business elsewhere.

Went looking for a pair of Oakleys in the optical shop. The tech was friendly and willing to let me try on as many styles as I wanted. Combined with a no pressure sales experience, I don’t hesitate to reccomend Eye Care!
