I went there for phonebanking for Bernie Sanders and I thought it was really cool that they let us have that space. The waiter tried to find me a Vegan option, but he couldn’t. It was nice of him to try though, so I gave a star for the effort.

The hummus is out of this world, I’m salivating even thinking about it. My girlfriend and i love to come and eat here and highly recommend it. Tiara was an excellent waitress and went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect and that my fatal allergy was taken into account to the extent of taking photos of the ingredients on her own phone and allowing me to read them.

I have been hesitant to try Brothers Taverna because I was traumatized with the old Brothers Deli…1000% better. I was very impressed with the new management and the food is not even compared to the old… a must go!

What can I say! The kind waitress Jenae said«Hi beautiful.» The very nice, upbeat manager Maegan was so quick with my meal! Outstanding service! I appreciate it so much. Friendly service is so important in this day and age with all the stresses in life. I go out to take a break and relax, as well as save myself from doing the dishes. lol This is the second time coming here by myself. My husband and mother will be eating here with me soon. Can’t wait! Two eggs over-hard cooked really well and are moist. I had them along with hash browns and raisin toast which was just what I wanted to fill me up, and they are delicious and great quality! The second time I got the same thing but added one banana pancake. The pancake was huge, so I took half of it home. I wolfed down the food both times. Thank you, thank you to Brothers Taverna and the great cook and staff… Appreciated! PS: It is also a very clean restaurant, And I just learned there is free parking for those who need that. Just go up the driveway to the left of the restaurant. There are also metered parking spots out in front of the restaurant. UPDATE: my husband and family loved the food, service and atmosphere!

Been here on a Saturday afternoon for a beer which was nice and fresh from the tap. Almost entire place was empty. We ordered Onion rings with beer and they were the worst I ever had. We were then tempted to order french toast and pancakes looking at the menu and I have to say that they were one of the best ones I ever had. Service was great and a friendly staff. I would have given 4 and half stars but since there is no such option I would rate it 5⁄5 and would like to give it a shot one more time.

The food was delicious! There were so many options I had a hard time deciding. My portobello burger with fries was delicious, as was the bruschetta and key lime pie. Our server was very friendly as well! Will definitely be back

We walked in and were greeted right away. Place is so clean and inviting. Menu choices were vast and priced really well. We got our food and it was delicious! Good food good service and a great environment. Doesn’t get any better then that! Thanks brothers for a great breakfast

If there were less than a one star, I would have selected it… terrible. Ordered a cheeseburger — Medium. It came out as well-done as it could possibly have been. The cheese was cold and thrown on top after it was placed on the bun. This is not the Brothers Deli that was once in that building and I will NEVER return again. Worst burger I’ve had!

This is my go to place when visiting Salem. Brothers Taverna is an all around Diner food style place. Food portions are spot on just enough food. Staff is very friendly and helpful. My favorite thing about Brothers Taverna is the prices, Perfect price per portion ratio. I have eaten here several times over the past year and have not had one bad thing here. All the food is great. I’m determined to try everything on the menu. Brothers Taverna hands down is is the best place to eat in the Pickering Wharf area. Trust me it’s true. you will not leave unsatisfied.

So tired of waiting on this place and their delivery. Almost a 2 hour wait? In Salem?

Brother’s has pretty good food. It also delivers, which is nice. The clam chowder is some of the best I’ve ever had. Anything not fried from here is good. On separate occasions I have been disappointed with their fried foods. First I order mozzarella sticks and then one time, fried clams. Both had a fluffy, not your typically crispy batter and were pretty bland. Everything else I’ve ever gotten here was really good. It’s a bit pricey though.

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend before Halloween in Salem. Every single restaurant was predictably packed for lunch, as this is the biggest tourist season of the year for such a quaint town. Brothers Taverna was the only place that didn’t have a line going out the door, so we settled. The entire time, they were rushing us to order and basically trying to get us out the door as quickly as possible — I hate it when places give you the check right away, even though we were planning to order more drinks. Her soup and my eggplant rollatini were only alright. I do give Massachussetts credit for serving beer so cheaply, though. $ 5 for a bottled IPA? Unheard of in New York.

I decided to try Brothers Taverna for Salem Restaurant Week. I walked in around 2 p.m. to a nearly completely empty place. The staff did not even know this promotion was going on even though they had a sign on their window. I showed the waiter on my phone and he believed me. The staff was not even aware of the menu choices they offered. I ordered what was listed as Veggie Delight Pasta served over Linguine with your choice of alfredo or marinara sauce. I ordered alfredo. The waiter came back to me and said they mix the sauces. Huh? I said please just do the alfredo and they listened. I got my entrée and it was loaded with vegetables but had not one piece of pasta — zero – nada. It was just a big plate of vegetables in alfredo sauce. It took quite a while for the waiter to check on me even though there were more staff than customers present at the time. I brought it to his attention that there was no pasta. He said he’ll cook me a new one to bring home. I said thanks. He comes back and says the chef said the dish was not supposed to have pasta. It’s posted here on the menu(link below) they supposedly wrote but of which they were unaware. My second course was lemon meringue pie. Both courses were decent quality — hence why the second star. When I got the bill, it was an iPad directing me to press a button for pre-programmed tip percentages — 18, 20, or 25. I like to be generous to a certain degree so my personal minimum is 20%, which is what I pressed, but the customer should have the option to give any amount s/he wants. The calculated percentages in fact were inflated I realized afterward. $ 4.40 is NOT20% of $ 18(i guess once again the prix fixe special somehow wasn’t adjusted for in the tip calculator). Anyway, when all was said and done, including tax and tip, I paid over $ 23 for vegetables in alfredo sauce and a slice of pie with terrible service in a nearly empty but well-staffed restaurant. I do not recommend this place, which is a shame because food and decorum are good. s/chambers/2160/CMS/Restaurant_Week/BrothersTaverna.pdf

Sat there for 15 minutes, not one employee acknowledged me and that’s the biggest no-no in a service geared establishment. Couldn’t give 1 star because I didn’t get the chance to try the food. Go to Scratch Kitchen 20 seconds down the street.

The Reuben sandwich was amazing. House made pastrami. I commented on the roast beef sandwich being delivered to another customer and the owner showed up with a few slices on a plate to try. Also house made. Delicious. Coming back again very soon.

A friend and I went to Brothers Taverna for breakfast on Sunday morning and we will not be going back again. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years and years so I tried to reserve judgement for as long as possible but the service was absolutely terrible and the food was mediocre at best. I’m not sure if they thought we were tourists so they didn’t have to try hard or the place is really that bad. The morning shift consisted of at least 8 waitresses, all of whom spent more time gossiping with one another than waiting on their tables. We had to wait extended periods of time to place our food and drink orders and at the end of our meal we had to play the old«stack the plates, pull the wallet out and continue to stare in their general direction so they understand that we need our check» game because there was absolutely no tableside service once our food was dropped off. If the situation was that of a jam packed house and wait staff rushing between tables I could easily forgive the lack of service. However, there were 8 waitresses and a total of 5 parties of 2 in the restaurant. I don’t understand. If the food was outstanding I would contemplate chalking this up to a bad day or a full moon or something. But two-thirds of my meal was undercooked(warmed up white bread with liquid butter from the grill instead of proper toast, eggs over easy with severely undercooked whites) and on the opposite end of the spectrum, my friend’s corned beef hash was charred to the point of no return. At the end of the day, the quality of food isn’t worth the lack of quality in service.

After a wonderful afternoon sailing I had reservation for brothers. Why reservations are required is beyond me it’s actually not needed. This place looks more like a cafeteria with the bar. It was understaffed and not much ambiance. Our waitress was actually off that day just happen to be on site she was pleasant. The menu is limited and is a laminated 11×17 paper. The bad: I had a seafood platter others had fried shrimp, cobb salad and lobster roll plates. All the fried food was bland the coleslaw vinegary and tasteless. The lobster roll«not memorable» and clam chowder– salty and watery. Great news the Cobb salad was the best thing at the table. Conclusion Salem has many restaurant options this place is one to sail past…

Had the steak tips and the caprese salad. Both excellent for the price point. I don’t come to a place like this expecting a premium restaurant experience. As far as diners go, this place is top notch. Service was friendly and prompt as well.

My family decided to try Brothers for breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised. The update to this place is great. Comfy table & chairs, no Assembly line food service. Table service, menus, the works. My husband & I both got omelette. They were gigantic & packed full of filings. Our little boy had the apple cinnamon waffle. He was in waffle heaven. It was a huge & fluffy. Great prices for huge servings.

The old Brothers was an excellent diner-type experience. Great Greek salads, fresh food and quality. What the place lacked in atmosphere was far outweighed by the food. Now after renovation, it is entirely reversed. The food sucks. Period. We ordered a Greek salad to share. It was not the old traditional salad with fresh iceberg lettuce, nice quartered tomatoes and good, quality feta. Instead it is the crap mixed greens stuff that comes in a big bag. The tomatoes are squishy little grape tomatoes. We had ordered extra cheese for the salad and it came with what looked like less than a regular amount. I had baked lamb. It arrived barely warm and was so fatty gross that I only ate a few carefully picked out bites. Brothers used to have delicious, handcut french fires. Now they use the crappy beer battered ones that come in giant frozen bags. In short, you should absolutely skip this place until you hear that they have gone back to their roots and start making fresh, well-made food. I know we will not. As a side note, the server we had was great. He was very friendly, competent and did everything he could to make the experience a good one. I felt bad that he was working in a place where he will probably not have much success serving such terrible food.
