Quintessential Salem store. For the casual brewer/​tea drinker/​whatever else you do with spices and herbs, this place has what you are looking for. I went to get some things to flavor my kombucha and it had more than I could ask for.
The girl working the counter is oddly grumpy but will still help you measure things out.

The store has a vast variety of herbs arranged on multiple walls. The employees were very helpful and friendly too. I’ll visit here often.

This is one of my favorite shops in Salem. Both times my husband and I visited, Darlene has helped us. She is both knowledgeable and friendly. I am impressed she remembered when we visited a year ago. They have an excellent selection of teas and herbs. The prices are reasonable. Artemisia makes excellent use of the space. If you are looking for a genuine Pagan/​Wiccan shop this is it!

Very cute place with a large variety of spices and my favorite essential oils! I was so excited to have found all the oils I needed to make my own face, neck and hands anti aging formulations and also bought an amazing incense (warm and sensual patchouli) that is making my home smell like heaven! Also the woman who greeted me was very helpful and answered all the questions I had on the oils and the items I was looking for. I will def be back for more!!!

Awesome shop with extremely knowledgeable staff. A huge array of herbs and essential oils. They also have some unusual «spooky» fare and well made costumes (witch costumes and capes). Very reasonably priced. My favorite store in Salem by far!

This shop is the real deal. Not gimmicky or touristy like so many other shops in Salem, this lovely place has a huge selection of herbs, teas, powders, bottles, and other supplies. I found a gorgeous wand and was able to stock up on dragon’s blood resin, which is hard to find.

My friend and I just so happened on this store while we were walking/​shopping our way through Salem and it is just another reason why I need to relocate to this lovely town. We were greeted cheerfully by a lovely lady, which sadly I did not get her name. I picked up some herbs and she kindly measured and weighed out everything I picked. There was nearly every herb a person could ask for, along with many other wonderful objects, and the broom selection!!! WOW! Fantastic store with reasonable prices.

I’ve known the proprietress for about twenty years. She is one of the fairest, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind people I know. She’s the real deal. No b.s. Did I leave anything out? Check out the new location across from the Hawthorne Hotel.

I feel so fortunate to have such a great botanical shop close by.

In my misspent youth I was the manager of a food co-​op in Vermont, and I have to say this place is head and shoulders above anything I’ve seen in an «organic» herb/​tea bulk supply section in FOREVER.
The jars are well labeled with often several names (common name, alternative common names, and genus/​species and perhaps varietal) and information on usage. There are reference books available on herbal medicine from several traditions, and two staff members I spoke too were helpful and knowledgeable as well as enthusiastic in sharing tips and experiences. I not only got what I came for but also some herbal tea for an aching shoulder that I didn’t know would be helped by tea — but the tea helped, and I’ll be adding that blend to my home pharmacopaea!
Every jar I opened (and I opened more than a few to check!) was full of fresh, vital material. The shop has every sort of paraphernalia for the herbalist or crafter, whether you are looking for a half pound of whole anise for Christmas cookies, for essential oils (very reasonably priced!) for something witchy, interested in herbal medicine, making a dream pillow, creating homemade soaps or candles or pot-​pourris, looking for something to help your dog’s bad breath, or a nice cuppa with no caffeine, dearie…:) They really run the gamut.
I know they have a good deal of Salem witchie-​kitchschie stuff too, but honestly, I didn’t even look on my first visit, and barely really looked around the second time I was there. I could just live in the maybe third of the store that is for the serious herb/​spice/​oil/​tea crafting enthusiast.
Herbs, oils, apothocary supplies are the star here, and really they are all-​stars! On that basis, five stars, and other folks can rate the rest of the store on whatever star basis they wish, I really couldn’t care about anything else. If I had known about this place before I’d moved to Salem I’d have probably made my way up here to hit it. Better selection than Cambridge Naturals, which was my former favorite source in the Boston area.
The form is asking if they accept credit cards — I almost got caught on this one. They do, but only over ten dollars.

I stopped in this lovely shop thanks to all the Amy Brown Fairy Divas in the windows, because I collect fairy figurines and I’m happy that the prices here are the average going price rather than inflated tourist trap prices common for some of the stores in this town.
The woman working there is genuinely very friendly and is familiar with the artists’ work. Not only did she have Amy Brown, but some of Jessica Galbreth and my favorite, Nene Thomas.
Large jars lined the walls with every herb imaginable and there were cute trinkets and talismans everywhere. This is a really cute shop, and the other room had some beautiful dresses and skirts.

For the true practitioner this is THE place to shop! What caught my eye was the walls, yes walls, full of herbs. I couldn’t have gotten a better price on Dragon’s Blood! They have all the tools you could need or want including clothing. All of their herbs are organic and the staff is really nice and willing to chat. I really wish we had a place like this in NC… makes me want to move to Salem even more!
OH! If you are local, Pagan or non, they have started The Witches’ Education League. They will be holding public circles, so check out their website for dates.

1^st visit: lone staff member ignored me as I looked up the herbs I was assigned to obtain. After checkout, I discovered that I had been seriously overcharged. I returned the next day with my receipt. The oversight was corrected quickly and I got a cash refund.

Great selection of botanicals and a very helpful staff that knows about the products they sell.
I’ve always walked away with what I needed. And felt like the staff gave me a better understanding of the herbs I was using.

There was a time when I would have given Artemisia 10 out of 5 stars, sadly things have changed.
The main good has stayed the same. Quality herbs line a wall. Everything you need for any [almost] any herbal application. Help yourself service to dry herbs and (almost) any amount you want/​need. Service was always rather hands off, which I enjoyed.. .and to a certain extent it still is…
however
Hands off used to mean a staff with an encyclopedic knowledge of herbs and their uses that would say hi upon entering and offer assistance if you looked lost, or like you needed help but didn’t know what to ask. That was several years ago, I went back recently and was ignored by two kids who were more interested in discussing the girl’s fear of something metaphysical (I forget what it was, I just remember being ignored)
They also renovated since I’d been back last, and while the interior is certainly more pleasing to the eye, it felt less like a great botanical shop and more like a cheesy Salem gift store that happens to have a wide selection of herbs.
I know, everyone has to pay the bills, and Salem pays its bills with slack-​jawed tourists. I don’t fault them for this, but I also no longer feel like I’m walking into a world-​class herbal shop anymore either.
