Georgie’s Alibi

It was the absolute worst service I’ve ever experienced. I asked for a server at 10:45pm and again at 11:20pm never saw a server. Ridiculous.

It’s for us gays. They carry grapefruit juice and that’s a plus for me. My friends enjoyed their food. I used to frequent Georgies much more back in the day. Don’t go for Pride, it’s a mad house and lengthy time to get a drink. I’m not sure why they don’t carry cider, or local beer. It’s not a club atmosphere throughout so if you feel like hanging in a regular bar you can get that feel. I was kinda bummed on the music selection last night… most of the songs were like 8 years old, and no hip hop. Although they did start playing Queen Bey as I was leaving. If your a part of the LGBTQ community, I’m assuming you are new in town as well, LOL. go ahead and try it.

Staff is very friendly. Drinks are good. Food is VERY uneven. Have had some decent meals there, and some real misfires. My favorite is when the staff couldn’t figure out whether my meal came with a salad. (It said it did on the special’s chalkboard) So salad and entrée ended up coming together. Hate that.

Absolutely the most rude bar tender I have ever encountered. The woman in front of me was given a glass of wine in a large cup but about an inch of actual wine. When she said, excuse me, can I get a bit more wine in my cup, I am paying for a full drink, the guy ignored her. She asked again as he passed. Still ignored her. She asked a third time and he made a «pfft» sound as if he was being bothered, grabbed a wine bottle, started to pour (people actually clapped for her) but then he never stopped pouring. Hand on hip with the bottle upside down, he poured, and poured, and poured (people stopped clapping). Wine was everywhere. All over our bags, our phones, the counter. He emptied the whole bottle all over her cup, the counter and our stuff. Slammed it down, asked if he she was happy? No. No one was happy. Shirtless diva asshole. We do not care to go back there, ever. I’m sure the lady trying to buy a glass of wine would agree. Thumbs down.

This has always been a fun no drama atmosphere everytime I visit. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I don’t recommend the food. Great party nights though

I danced alone on their dance floor for at least two hours. Then finally karaōke started. I danced to maybe three karaōke performers (not consecutive), then the bartender lied to me! He said the bartender was on break while I watched him serve another customer.
What he didn’t know is that all I wanted was a water. He didn’t ask me. He just said the bartender is on break.
I was intoxicated, not driving but also not sloppy drunk. This bar apparently prefers you sit with your thumbs up your ass and not dancing. Dancing gets you cut off and disrespected at this bar. I won’t give my queer money to them again!
Sure it was a Tuesday night but I would not have imagined being judged at this establishment.
Eric and Jessica were the only bartenders who gave me respect. I would go back for her shift but the guy after her needs to find a new line of work.

Had a wonderful time there. Teddy our bartender ensured our return. Me and my friend both have worked professionally in the service industry culminating over 20 years and both felt at home there and are new fans. I’m glad I ignored the bitter queens dissing the place on here.

As one of my hangs in Wilton Manors is the Alibi, formerly Georgie’s Alibi, founded by George Kessinger who also started this bar, I thought I’d give it a comparison try; actually I gave it several tries. I confess I didn’t think it could be the equal the Alibi in Wilton Manors but to my surprise it definitely was not only its equal but in many ways surpassed it. First off, the interior décor is much better, much richer and classier, especially the case after what I think was a recent redecoration failure of the Wilton Manors establishment after it merged ownership with the Monkey Bar of P-​Town. The food is every bit the equal, this bar has a dance floor whereas the other does not, and though it doesn’t have an outdoor patio bar, it does have a superior walkway patio complete with flat screens.
Though both bars are friendly, this one seems somewhat more so in that it has a better cross section of gay community patrons; everything from the aging drag queen to the hip college types.

Food is fine… straight forward burgers, etc.
Bartenders are friendly and attentive.
Drinks are fine.
Sometimes it is VERY crowded (Sat nights) other times not so. Music is loud; tough to converse.

Teddy Bear is the best bartender ever. Food is great and people are really friendly.

I go back and forth about Georgie’s alibi. The service is either really good or really bad. No in between. I’ve encountered an incredibly rude bartender there a few times who is super impatient. And then I’ve been waited on outside by a really great girl and another gentlemen.
It’s a pretty laid back place outside and a club inside. Looks like it would be fun late at night. I usually see people dressed in drag at happy hour there. It’s definitely unique.
The food is really good. I always get the veggie burger. The pizza looks amazing as well.
Georgie’s is hit or miss but the food is always consistently good. Great outdoor patio to bring the dog too!

I’m happy there is a gay bar in my neighbourhood. Even though I am comfortable going to any bar with my girlfriend in St. Petersburg it’s still nice to have that full «family» experience from time to time.
However I think this bar is having an identity crisis. Is it a gay bar, a sports bar, or a gastropub? I’m down for any but I don’t want to eat my fancy sandwich with techno bumping and cigarette smoke billowing in from out front. Nor do I like the straight guy bar tenders hitting on me with football playing and jerseys on the wall when I’m trying to catch a drag show.
I’m happy it’s here, but I’m not sure how I feel about it overall. I guess I’m as confused as they are.

Stay away from this bar!!! When you raise your price above your level. And the bartenders are a$$‘s you realized you just threw your money down the drain to white trash. Save your money go else where.

Zero Stars:
There are rules. Some are written and some are not. Some are made to be broken and some are set in stone. Some rules that are back and white and some that come in shades of gray. Unfortunately, the manager and employees of Georgie’s Alibi broke all of the rules of customer service, safety, and professionalism last night. So while we are talking about rules, lets consider a few from the great men of business. Hopefully they will learn something.
Rule 1: The customer is always right. Rule 2: If the customer is ever wrong, re-​read Rule 1.- Stew Leonard, CEO Stew Leonard’s
This seems self-​evident. It leads to a bevy of protocols like treat the customer with respect. Don’t argue with a customer. Try to be courteous when dealing with a difficult situation or customer.

Obviously employees, managers and owners need to remember where their income comes from. If your customers aren’t happy then you will not earn their respect, money, or repeat business. And since the customers pay your salary their opinion of your work is the ONLY opinion that counts. They are your boss, your banker, your employer, your shareholder because without them you have nothing.

And here is where most businesses make the biggest mistake. One angry customer can share their experience and hurt your business far more than 100 happy customers who don’t talk about their experiences. I am one such angry customer.
And Georgie’s Alibi has no idea about the above rules.
So my wife and I went to Georgie’s with some regulars. We used to live next door in the Skyline 5^th Apartments with these regulars and so they like to walk here. This is not our first visit. My opinion has been decidedly unimpressed. The food has always reminded me of an Applebees but more expensive. The fried green beans are always overdone, the poppers are bland, the burgers are over priced. But there is definitely something to be said about the convenience of walking to the bar.
Well tonight we approached the bar and were immediately greeted by a «friendly» doorman who wanted to check our ID’s (we are all in our mid 30’s). We weren’t even close to the door. In fact we weren’t even close to the restaurant but were in front of someone else’s store. I thought his manner was as welcoming as a «no trespassing» sign. We then entered and sat down around the dance floor.
My wife and my friend’s fiancé started to dance. It was at this point that we noticed that we had solved the problem of why the polar ice caps are melting. They are not melting. They have relocated to all over the dance floor. That is how much ice and liquid were on the dance floor. I remember thinking that that looked dangerous and I hope the floor isn’t slippery. As it turns out, it is.
My wife was getting her groove on and then she fell… Face first into the floor.
Now let us consider what a real manager/​employee would do in this situation. MY WIFE’S NOSE MAY BE BROKEN. SHE IS BLEEDING PROFUSELY! SHE SLIPPED ON YOUR FLOOR. Perhaps you should show some concern for her well-​being? Does she have a concussion? Can we take her someplace quiet to stop the bleeding and make sure she is ok?
NOPE! They threw us out while still assessing her condition. Then as my wife, is being led out and we say (as nicely as possible) that we have her so the bouncer can let go, THE BOUNCER FLIPS MY WIFE AND HER FRIEND THE BIRD!
I go to the manager and explain the situation. He says to me, «that’s not what I heard and we can’t have people bleeding on the dance floor.» Excuse me? I could care less if you heard it from the word of the Lord himself, you do not argue with me when my wife is bleeding from your negligence. The correct answer is, «I am sorry. That was unprofessional and I will speak to him. Is your wife alright?»
So lets check those 3 rules again. Customer being right, not arguing and being courteous? FAIL. Remembering that I and others like me pay your salary? FAIL. Remembering to not piss off the loudmouth customer? BIG FAIL.
ZERO STARS. Well earned. And never give my wife the bird. What sort of business does that?

I like Georgies for the most part. Great drink specials before 9. Usually very friendly staff. However, the food quality has taken a nose dive. I’ve tried many things on the menu and can only compare it to eating a chillis :/​Not a great dining experience but adequate if you are having drinks and need a bite.

The building & staff…
This place is a good damn time. I’m not personally into techno-​y or trance-​y music, but with enough drinks, who cares? The DJ Thursday nights actually mixed up enough that I didn’t go crazy.
The lights, spacious dance floor, and go go dancers are entertaining as well.
There’s plenty of seating including an outdoor bar and comfortable couches along the patio.
The bartenders are very sweet and relatively efficient.
The drinks…
The prices are okay. There are definitely cheaper places to drink, but also places twice as expensive. This may surprise you (sarcasm), but the wine here is garbage. Straight up lighter fluid mcnastiness.
The food…
I haven’t eaten here yet, but I’m very curious to try it out (and get the deal. One meal= a free draft).

I went to Georgie’s alibi with 50 of my closest friends for an event called «Pinellas Coffee time». We get together once a week and hang out, this time it was here. Color me surprised to find out that the bar had food! I knew they had some Awesome drinks, but I had no idea about the food!
First let me tell you to try one of their signature martinis. I had the S’mores and the Russel’s Chambord Dream, which were a BO/​GO — Don’t miss this special. OMG, let me tell you these were decadent! The best one. The Russel’s, was to die for! It was an orgasm in my mouth. One sip and I was hooked. I wish I had ordered it first, then I could have had two. The other was good, but this was AH… Mazing!
And the food. their menu was extensive, but I opted for Tator Tots smothered with chili, cheese and sour cream Who could go wrong? It really was amazing. And all of that for less than $ 15? You can bet I left my waiter a hell of a tip.
The service was amazing, the drag show was good. It left me wishing we could have our PCT here every week!

I certainly wouldn’t call this ‘neighborhood’ Midtown, since Historic Kenwood is right next door. Believe someone messed up on that description, since Midtown St Pete, is considered to be south of Kenwood (Alibi area).
I’ve dragged (most willingly) straight co-​workers (AND THEIR WIVES) along for Friday Happy Hour. Now they all ask when we’re going again!
Great food, GREAT DRINK specials till 9pm during weekdays.
If I had one complaint, practically the only part of the bar where ‘normal’ conversation can take place, it would be in the Sports Bar area. Otherwise be prepared to scream into each others ears in order to be heard.
It’s literally the only bar that I frequent. Always a great staff, and friendly bartenders!
