Ok so I go into Atwaters on a Saturday which is advertised as «Seafood Saturday» and there’s no fish to be had anywhere in the place. I look at the menu board and they were featuring Smoked Chicken, Smoked Ribs, Fried Chicken, Cabbage, Rice, Mac n Cheese and Collards. I ordered Fried Chicken(thinking how can I go wrong with this Soul Food staple in a soul food joint, right?), cabbage and Mac-n-cheese. The fried chicken had obviously been cooked the day before and kept warm in an oven, the cabbage was dried out n so was the Mac-n-cheese. An attempt had been made to sprinkle shredded cheese on the serving of Mac-n-cheese and it to was dried out in an oven trying to keep it warm. I am a cook so I know old food when I taste it. I ordered 3 Obama Crunch cookies n u guessed it… they were old and dried out. I don’t know how they can in good conscience call themselves«the best soul food». What a waste of $ 14.00. The cashier greeted my husband and I when we walked in but unfortunately she cannot count money. Mgmt may want to make sure the person at the counter knows what is on the menu for the day, know the ingredients in the cookies and know how to correctly ring up an order and count back the customer’s change. The little girl working behind the counter was the best part of my experience. She corrected the woman ringing up my order, she knew the ingredients in the cookies and she was polite. I can go to Church’s or Popeye’s Chicken, spend $ 14 and come out more satisfied. Do yourself a favor and save yourself frustration and money and go elsewhere. The best part of my experience was the young girl behind the counter. She knew how to ring the food, knew the ingredients and had good manners. You got me this time Atwaters but NEVER again.
