Came in right after a rush so there’s that to consider but the place was trashed, the servers were frazzled and said we can sit at any(dirty) table we wanted, nowhere was it visibly mentioned that there was a breakfast cutoff time, small and barely noticeable sign that this establishment is cash only… and it was about 85 degrees so I’m assuming the air conditioning as old as their décor.

Great home town food, excellent staff who is always friendly. Portions certainly won’t leave you hungry. Only reason not 5 stars is they get really busy some days and the service and food quality declines. Sometimes they just need more people and don’t have them available; unfortunate result is decline in customer experience. More times than not though, this place is great. I visit often for lunch and rarely disappointed.

Fantastic breakfast with small town atmosphere and friendly service. This place is a St. Peters institution. They’re cash only, so bring some(they have an ATM, no idea what the fees are — I usually walk next door to use the one at QuikTrip after putting my name in for a table).

Nice little neighborhood type place. Very friendly, lots of regulars. Low prices and good food. They let me order breakfast at 1 pm and are easy about substitutions. They even remembered me for ordering decaf the day before. Real friendly people, good basic home cooking, low prices

I was in St. Peters for work today, and I wanted diner type food for lunch. I thought that this would be a good place to try, but I was sadly disappointed. Meatloaf can be really good when it’s good and really bad when it’s bad. Their regular daily lunch special on Thursdays is meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I had visions of what it would be dancing in my head, and was served something not anything near my expectations. The meatloaf was not bad; however, it was smothered with ketchup. I don’t understand that. Let the meatloaf be meatloaf, and if you have to put something red on it, don’t smother it with ketchup. The bread was white sandwich bread… YUCK! I hate white bread like that so I didn’t touch it. I was thinking that the gravy on the mashed potatoes would be brown gravy from the pan in which the meatloaf was cooked, but it was that white milk gravy that was seasoned with just a little too much black pepper. The mashed potatoes were instant. I always can tell the difference because instant has an artificial taste to me. Instant mashed potatoes always needs to be seriously doctored up with either garlic salt or garlic powder, sour crème or lots of butter or olive oil mixed in with it for it to taste decent, and the gravy didn’t do any good. I understand the used of and the preference for using instant mashed potatoes in a restaurant setting for the convenience of it, but instant just didn’t taste very good. I don’t know what their other food is like since I have gone only once, but if I do go again, when I do go there again, I’m not getting meatloaf and mashed potatoes. All of their prices on their menu in house and online are really reasonable for the amount of food that you get. It’s inexpensive and if you are on a tight budget and want to go out to eat, it’s really affordable. So I guess that’s good.

Coming from out of town, we stopped in for a quick lunch. Staff was funny and friendly. My daughter had french toast and I had the Napa salad. Both were delicious! Definitely recommend this diner if you like to support local small businesses.

My daughters and I use to come here and sit in the open air porch in back, then the owner closed it off and enclosed the porch to make it just another room. What a waste. Had something great and ruined it. Now it is just like everywhere else.

I had been to Main Street Diner twice before where I did find reasonably priced and good breakfast food. But today was a complete bust. After a 15 minute wait and little acknowledgement upon arriving at what appeared to be a chaotic and overwhelming time for the servers, my 2 sons and I were seated and our drink order was taken. But our server never returned to take our order. After twenty minutes, we left a $ 5 bill on the table to cover our drinks and left to find another breakfast place down the road. It’s better to come here at off peak hours when they can better accommodate their guests.

You can not find a friendlier wait staff than here! This place is tiny, but packs in the bodies. They have expanded out back and covered in the patio to accommodate everyone as word of mouth made this the breakfast place in St. Charles. Make sure you come hungry and are prepared to put down 3 to 5 egg omelets, pancakes the size of steering wheels, and the best coffee!

What can I say about this place we are regulars there. The staff is local and colorful. They always welcome us in. The food is fresh and fast. They have expanded seating and now it’s easier to get in quickly. Wait time is usually not more than 10 – 15 minutes when it is slammed busy. I can’t say enough about how great the food and staff is here.

I don’t know what’s changed but today’s visit was pretty bad. Service was slow and the wait staff was short handed. As for the food it was bad, I ordered the big breakfast eggs were cooked right but the fried potatoes were old and soggy no crispiness to them at all. The corned beef hash was very wet and warm not hot at all. My toast were soggy and the coffee tasted old and watered down. Mike girlfriend ordered the uncle John hers came cold and all tossed together which isn’t described on the menu like that. The cheese was thrown on top and it wasn’t even melted. The eggs had a brown color to them and was not good! Over all not good visit!

Never had bad service there. I’m not sure about all of the negative reviews because the food is great and every employee is super friendly. Breakfast is the bomb.

All the food tastes like it was reheated from Costco and they had really terrible coffee. Folgers out of a dirty shoe tastes better. Sat at the bar and couldn’t get anyone’s attention because it was busy, I suppose. It’s cheap so there’s that but there’s a good reason it’s cheap.

Cute little diner that Stewart P. told me about. I had it bookmarked for ages and finally decided to try it this morning with Sean. Interior is small yet cute & cozy. Lots of oldschool Americana memorabilia on the walls like Route 66 type of stuff, and vintage ads/posters. The walls are painted yellow and it’s very cheerful. Lots of different folks in here and everyone seemed to be very friendly… not just waitstaff but also the patrons. I get the impression there are lots of ‘regulars’ who lives in the area. Decided to be boring and get a breakfast sandwich although the strawberry topped waffles were calling my name. Sean got his usual French toast with hashbrowns and bacon. He seemed to really enjoy everything. My sandwich was good but really nothing special. I had a small OJ and decided I should have ordered the large but the waitress was really nice and got me another small and just charged me for 1 large one which is cheaper than getting 2 smalls. We got a decent amount of food, and only paid $ 14 or so before tip. This place is definitely really affordable. The food didn’t excite me too much, even the stuff I tried from Sean’s order. It kind of reminds me of Uncle Bill’s food, especially the French toast, so you may or may not like that. But it is definitely filling and cheap, and served with a smile which is always a plus in my book. I just wish they had something really unique that kept me coming back for more(e.g. another diner I like in the area, they have cranberry nut bread.) But maybe I just need to try other menu items here. I like this place more than Gingham’s for sure. We will likely be back.

We were looking for a brunch spot near home without the long wait that a lot of places experience on Sunday after church. We found Main Street Diner online and passed it over a few times because it just looked too plain. After searching high and low, we came back to it and decided to give it a shot. We were THRILLED! The food is great, cooked fresh, to order. The service is fantastic, my wife wanted something that wasn’t on the menu and they made it for her. We’ve been back a number of times, there are always people in there, either shimmied up to the bar, or taking at table on one of the dining levels, yet we’ve never had a wait(in fact, I hesitate to write such a good review in fear that we’ll soon have to wait for a table), but that wouldn’t be right, now would it?!! While you’re not going to get a champagne brunch here, you can certainly get some good home cooking at a great price and friendly service to go with it.
