Minneapolis, I am sincerely jealous, i love this place. it is such a freakin phenomenal gem. Than to find out you had several? ugh color me green with envy. I basically spent my paycheck at these stores. Got so many adorable items vintage blazers straight from france? check. A 1970s floppy pinstripe hat? check. Having been to both My Sister’s Closet locations I have to say I much prefer St. Paul’s. The store is located in a charming house on Grand and contains 2 stories packed with amazing finds.
The quality of the items in the store are fantastic. You can tell that each item was carefully inspected before hitting the floor. I also feel like this location carries more modern clothing, which I prefer. Don’t get me wrong I love vintage but we all know it tends to run smaller in sizing.
Take your time while browsing, there are goodies stuffed everywhere but it’s not so overwhelming that you can’t move around. I will definitely be paying this place a return visit… okay, probably several!

The tiny old house on Grand is really cute and the racks are well-​packed in so don’t miss shoes in a corner or hats hung near the ceiling.
I don’t remember ever purchasing clothing here as most of the selection is for a more «mature» style. Even the ultra vintage stuff wasn’t thrilling me.
In the past, however, I purchased a lovely vintage angora winter hat. It was a pastel pink with a visor and it got soooooooo many compliments. I loved that hat. Sadly, I misplaced it this winter. :(So I went back to find a new one and I was also in a search for a wedding dress.
While I didn’t find a dress or a replacement hat I did find a vintage Italian scarf with some crazy patterns on it. Like a mix of pink and black checkerboard and neon green zig zags. MY NEW FAVORITE SCARF! :)
Worth a look into this unique shop. Staff is friendly too, they gave us chocolate!

The moment you walk into My Sister’s Closet, you know that it takes talent & love to create such a fun & fashionable environment. The owner is helpful and will assist you with what you’re looking for in a piece of clothing or accessory. There are a variety of styles to choose from and at reasonable prices. It’s obvious the owner takes time in selecting quality clothing to sell to her customer. Even though I no longer live in the Twin Cities, when I’m back to visit family and friends, I make time to stop and see what the latest fashions are at My Sister’s Closet.

3.5: Cute store, small space, limited selection.
My Sister’s Closet is located inside a converted house and offers a hodge podge mix of vintage and newer clothes on two floors. The house is an older home with small square footage indicative of its age so while there are clothes racks, a lot of things are hung or displayed on the walls and involves some neck craning if you don’t want to miss a possible good piece of clothing.
It’s very hard to tell what is vintage and not (other than relying on your «does this look old» instinct) and if an item is vintage, it’s not clear from what period. Maybe I’m just spoiled by the online resell stores that i.d. the period, composition, among other myriad of details, but it made me feel like the vintage pieces are an after thought in the store and were picked up to simply take space. Prices are very reasonable though (saw work-​appropriate skirts at $ 15).
Current clothes range from Express to more mature brands like Talbots and Dana Buchman. There is a wider selection for M-​Plus Size than XS and S and that is likely due to who lives in the neighborhood and consigns there. Prices are relatively reasonable (ex. Jcrew sweater for $ 15), but there were a few pieces where I had to scratch my head on the resell value (a BCBGeneration dress listed at $ 48 when it retails for $ 100 and on clearance hits low $ 60s).
Shoes were old and worn down with deeply grooved footprints in some. Saw a pair of season’s old Jill Stuart’s on clearance from $ 25 orig. price. The section was pretty messy and picked over so there may have been good items that I simply missed due to timing.
A cute store, but there isn’t enough offered in either the current fashions or vintage items for me to return as a regular customer.

I love this gem of a consignment store right on Grand Avenue… I have always enjoyed browsing in here and can usually find something cool and exciting for myself. They always have fabulous purses, shoes, jackets, skirts, pants, designer and vintage… it is in an old victorian house and they have an upstairs area too. The merchandise is displayed nicely and the dressing rooms are clean and nicely sized. The owner has always been kind and helpful when I visit. There is some parking in the back too if you have trouble finding a decent spot right on Grand…

Nice staff, nice clothes, nice little store. I appreciate that they are
picky about what they take. Sometimes I question their prices,
seem too high for used. Sometimes things are priced right.
I understand if the clothes still have the original price tag they
are worth more, but second-​hand shoppers are looking for
well-​priced clothes and shoes. Ones that they can afford.

If you have perfect condition designer clothes that you can no longer wear, take them here… you get top-​dollar. When I say perfect condition, I mean it. The owner goes through everything with a fine-​tooth comb and will not accept any flaw but that’s why she can charge so much for the clothes. Everything needs to be dry cleaned/​washed and pressed on hangers when you take them in. You can get more money if you take store-​credit rather than cash. I do take cash because I’m trying to not buy more for my already crammed closet!
I like that everything here is designer and unique and practically new.

I have to admit that even though I really love vintage and/​or consignment stores, I get a little flustered shopping there. I always find something I really love, debate the price point (is something that’s already been worn worth this much?) and leave without it, later regretting my decision. Fortunately, My Sister’s Closet has cured me of this ailment.
I went in search of a lovely light pink vintage Ferragamo skirt and top I had the pleasure of wearing – and not only did I find it, but it also happened to be during a «Full Closet Sale” – meaning that everything in the store was half-​price! I left with 3 scarves, a purse and a long leather jacket that Penny Lane ala «Almost Famous» might have worn. If you decide you like their selection, get on that email list so you don’t miss those sales!

A great women’s thrift store crammed into an old house on Grand Ave. Made my first visit at around 1 pm on a weekday and was surprised to see about 7 other women shopping– I took that as a good sign! I’m no thrift-​store connoisseur, but the merchandise was reasonably priced, of good quality, and catered to women of all ages. Though crowded, the clothing, shoes, and accessories were well-​organized over two floors. Major bonus– very friendly staff who didn’t badger me as I browsed, made sincere chit-​chat as I checked out, and handed me two dark-​chocolate hershey kisses with my change! I will definitely be back to check out their great selection of dresses.

My Sister’s Closet is a cute unassuming store in Uptown. They have a fairly wide selection of clothes, shoes, handbags, hats, scarves, and jewelry. I was totally shocked at the selection of shoes! They had super cute boots for only 35 bucks, but sadly, they were too big for me.
The pricing was decent. I have been to cheaper stores in the burbs, but they definitely didn’t have as high quality options as this place.
I found a sweet clutch and some costume jewelry, but I wasn’t able to find any clothes that sparked my interest. The staff was incredibly sweet and even showed me how to take some jewelry and craft it into a hair accessory. She said that I should try back because their stock is always changing.
I think I will keep going back because it was totally adorable and I can always yoink a few jems from thrift stores like these.
