This place is actually pretty bad ass, but I only go there for the food, which is once every 2 – 3 weeks. Their philly cheesesteak is good, as is their gyro samich, and for $ 5, it’s a great lunch option. I don’t shop there for groceries or water pipes, so I can’t speak to that, but I do appreciate the piece of candy I get every time I buy something there. If in the neighborhood and looking for a great lunch that isn’t at all expensive, give them a shot.

I want to take a moment to update this review. The shop has not changed owners, but they appear to have updated some things – notably the carryout menu. You can get a very delicious burger or gyro platter for 5 – 6 $. I brought the kids in one frigid noontime for sandwiches(they recommend calling ahead – do it), and they gave them suckers while we waited. Friendly and talkative staff made sure they remembered our names and treated us well. The food was actually really good! I got gyros on top of soggy fries – skip the fries, but the gyro salad was quite good, the kids loved their sandwiches, and we could have gotten by ordering HALF of what we did. Stop in for their carryout food. It’s actually quite good. As for groceries, they are just what you’d expect – stuff from Aldi being resold, which is about all a small grocer can afford to do, and I do not fault them for it. They are close and can be reached on foot when you’re in a pinch. If you need incense with creative bedtime names – they got that, lordy do they ever. If you need hand-blown smoking paraphernalia, they sure have that. My only request is extended hours, but you can’t have everything. Four big stars meaning, «Yay! I’m a fan.» And they gladly take your credit card!

This place is disgusting. I’ve lived near it for over two years now. I went in once when I first moved into the neighborhood and never went back. I’m surprised it’s even on Unilocal. It’s Dark, dingy, and sells nothing but crappy artificial food. Want gallons of orange flavored mystery beverage? This is your place! This neighborhood deserves a proper corner market that is open, airy, brightly lit and sells fresh, decent food. Is that too much to ask? Someone needs to shut this rat hole down and rebuild it from scratch.
