Has gone way down hill since Michael passed away years ago. Used to be regulars. There’s no consistency any more. I got 1 good pizza and thought they were back. Next 2 weren’t even fully cooked. Complained and got a half burnt one. We’ve tried over and over. I’ll wait another year and try once more.

Bad service from the lady who answers the phone and a little rude when I picked it up. Pizza was ok but I payed the price later.

4-star pizza from a 2-star restaurant. Michael’s has been serving up thin, crispy pizza in the Robert Street neighborhood for more than a decade, which gives it some distinct advantages and disadvantages. The pizza is top notch. I rate the pizza 4 out of 5 stars. It’s reminiscent of the wildly-popular pizza served at the Red Savoy… It only lacks the zesty sauce featured by the Savoy. Since Michael’s delivers(and the Red Savoy does not), it’s worth storing Michaels number in your phone for delivery alone. The restaurant rates 3 stars overall because the in-restaurant experience rates 2 stars. Although the staff is friendly, the restaurant hasn’t been updated in more than a decade. It’s dark. It’s dreary. And, it’s cold in the winter. We ordered takeout and were freezing in our jackets as we waiting for our pie to cook. Michael’s doesn’t take checks or credit cards — which is also a disappointment. Although, I’ve been told that once you ‘become a regular’ paying by check isn’t necessarily a problem.

I happened to catch a pizza sign on Robert street coming back from SSP. I noticed the man just covering my pizza with sausage end to end. He treated me to a pepsi while I waited. What a contrast to the pizza I just had at Fireside. But both places, everything is fresh and homemade, and I’m curious to try other items as well. I like that this business has survived while so many others are in dire straits. If I lived around here it’s the only place I would go, and I’m not sure what else is around. Like Dee said, it really should be served in slices, it’s that tasty, especially the sauce. It’s next to a Burger King. Glad there’s a good Italian joint in a Mexican hood.

Close to DT. Would not recommend eating in like we did. More of a delivery place. OK pizza.

Picture this: coldest night of the year(yet). We’re driving by after returning a moving truck, starved from a day on the road, in a blizzard, with a 26-foot Penske truck and car carrier in tow… talk about white-knuckling it… we see this nondescript restaurant with a neon sign and bars across the windows and doors… we do another drive-by and think, what the hell, let’s give it a whirl. Glad we did. Our pie(extra large, mush and onions on half pour moi and ham, mush, and onions pour le hubby) was fantastic. Thin crust like we demand, good amount of sauce, good cheese, fresh toppings. The *only* thing I couldn’t quite get over was the square slice cut(why??? why??? I’m a wedge die-hard). 16 inches snarfed down in a second. The pizza place has been in business for 50 years; the current owner’s run it for 30, and his dad for 20 before him. They also serve a few pasta dishes. He thoroughly admitted that delivery service will likely be slow, but for takeout we had no problems. Welcome to Saint Paul.
