Used to be my favorite Chinese spot… Until I got food poisoning from eating their buffet tonight. I’ve never had a problem with their take out, but I strongly urge you to stay away from their buffet. I probably won’t be eating here ever again just to avoid the possible experience I’m having, currently. This is the first time I’ve had food poisoning… And let me tell you. It’s horrendous.

Definitely not impressed with this place. When I moved to Eagan I had several friends tell me that this was there favorite Chinese food in the area. I can now say they obviously have never had good Chinese food. We got the beef and broccoli, pepper chicken and Cambodian noodles. Everything tastes as if it were made with the same soy sauce type sauce and it was quite oily. Not interested in giving it another shot.

Just picked up dinner from Hong Wong tonight for the first time. We are not Asian food experts. We had no idea what to expect but we liked our food and we will go back again. Much better than Leann Chin, Panda Express etc.

This is the 1st time in 25 years eating at this restaurant that I was disappointed. My Daughter ordered the Orange Chicken and we took it to go. The sauce was on the chicken and when we got home to eat it, it was one big mush pile in the bottom of the box with way too much sauce on it. I called the manager and told him that they needed to put the sauce on the side like all other restaurants and he told me that I ordered it wrong, that I need to order the sauce on the side and nobody else has ever complained. What happened to the Customer being right? That was $ 9 in the garbage literally!

What a colossal disappointment. At high noon, there were four other tables occupied. Okay, the weather is crappy today. The food was utterly devoid of any flavor. The«green beans with garlic sauce» had no garlic I could see or taste. The chow mein was nothing but mushy celery(I actually don’t mind mushy celery) with ground pork(presumably) in it. No onion or other vegetable that I could discern. The sweet and sour sauce was neither noticeably sweet nor sour. The hot and sour soup lacked a bite and was not sour. The potstickers were flavorless. The salt and pepper fish was the only menu item that tasted like much of anything. What in Buddha’s name has happened to this place? It used to be a great lunch. I am so sorry and so sad.

This has been a family favorite for almost 3 decades. We have not lived near it for over 20 years now, but we still come by when we are nearby. The buffet is great, but call ahead to see if it is open or if you have to order from the menu. The food is good either way.

Went here for the first time but the buffet was closed. Overall impression is that it is your typical Chinese food restaurant. You walk in starving and you roll out bloated with googly eyes. Our main complaint is that my wife and I didn’t care for the amount of salt in the dishes we had. I mean I know you’re getting salt when eating Chinese food but this was kicked up a notch higher than I would expect. My ring still won’t come off my finger. I will say I gave this 3 vs 2 stars because the service was good and the lady running the place was very nice. If you want run of the mill Chinese go for it but there are better quality joints out there.

Did take-out there the other night… friendly staff and the food was ready to go when I got there based on the time. Good flavor and fair prices given portion sizes.

Average at best chinese strip mall buffet. I have eaten there once at lunch and once for dinner. The price for the dinner was about $ 10 with tax. Not very busy either time. The service was good and friendly. Unfortunately much of the food was very salty. The salt and pepper battered shrimp was mostly just salty and I had to peel off most of the breading to eat them. The egg foo young looked and tasted like it was sitting in the bath of watery brown gravy since lunch. I know you can’t expect a buffet to taste as fresh as food from the menu but I can’t recommend it much.

I’ve gone to Hong Wong’s with my parents, my family, and my work group. Every time, I have great service — they’ve gotten to know me and show up at the table with an iced tea before I ask. The food is very consistent, I love the salt and pepper shrimp and salt and pepper fish. My family loves the little sugar doughnuts!
