Davanni’s Pizza & Hot Hoagies

Been going here for years, and there’s something to be said for consistency. Hoagies are good, and Davanni’s still has probably the best deep dish pizza around.

Anybody that has a had a Davanni’s deep dish or hoagie knows that when you get to jonesing for it, nothing else will do. But that’s true for everything there including cheese bread and calzones. The Coke Freestyle is a big plus too. Overall, the food would rate a four-​star review.
This visit once again confirmed my only issue with Davanni’s; the staff attitude. This seems to be a systemic problem since I have run into at several locations. When you walk in, placing your order seems to be an interruption to whatever else they are doing. Fast food places take a more genuine and sincere job of greeting you and making you feel welcomed. While their restaurants are not traditional sit-​down dining, I’m sure they consider their brand above fast food. I’ve dined-​in dozens of times at several locations and never once have I ever seen a manager come around and check on you to see if the food was good or if you needed anything.
Bottom line is if you want the food, order ahead and do carryout!

Loved the turkey and bacon hoagie. Little spicy but really enjoyed it. Nice place to eat!

My husband andI each had pizzas. Mine was okay; but my husband really enjoyed his deep-​dish pizza. We also had the garlic cheese bread; which was adequate. The sauce tasted a little off. The staff were friendly and efficient. The bathroom needed attention; the rubish bin was over-​flowing.

The pizza and Hoagies are always amazing. We ordered a deep dish pizza and 5 hot hoagies to go last night and it was all ready on time when we arrived. Everything was hot & delicious! We go back often and will continue to.

The hoagies are awesome. The pizza and cheesy bread is super good too. Service is fast, usually get your food about 5 minutes after ordered.

First off, we arrive and are greeted by the most rude, unprofessional and miserable employee. But after awhile we realized it wasn’t just him. Someone appearing to be an owner and some other employees have the same unhappy look constantly. Horrible customer service and it made me wish we had gotten our food to go… or not at all.
Then my oriental salad came and although I was told the chicken would be heated up, it was ice cold. Ugh. Complained and of course they didn’t care that they said it wrong and didn’t try to fix the problem.
Then my husband’s deep dish pizza with sausage and mushrooms was over done. After their non-​attempt to redeem themselves with my salad, perhaps the pizza would get a different reaction… Nope. Couldn’t have cared less.
NEVER going back there unless management changes many things. I recall fond memories of stopping here with my swim team and eating delicious food, served to us with smiles and a warm atmosphere. This place has gone down hill. REALLY bummed. Wasted our money and time.

Cheap corporate feel, their sauce is good, but pizza is always under or overdone. I had a salad this time, since I was out-​voted (though none of the people who wanted to go were pleased with their food). It was fresh, but made from single serving boxed ingredients — bizarre. Basically fast food served slowly.

I’m a huge fan of their white garlic pizza since I’m not a friend of red sauce. I haven’t been in a spell. I hope they still have it.
The white garlic pizza is a nice option. The cheese consistency is nice and melted through out. The crust is just right since I’m also not a friend of the big dough fest deep dish.
Have ordered their subs a few time and they’re actually quite tasty. Big fan of the club. The lightly toasted bun with the warm lettuce and mayo is a hit with me and I’m picky when it comes to sandwiches.

Their deep dish is the bomb!

Superb pizza and subs. The pizza is definately my favorite in the Twin Cities. And, it’s a local company.
