The Bacon Trolley is a food truck/trolley in Mpls(really St. Paul, I think). The Spanker. That’s really all that needs to be said. If you don’t try it, you don’t know what you’re missing — or — you’re a vegetarian. It’s a sandwich with BBQ pork and beer braised pork belly on a potato roll. Yum. I want one right now. The spinach salad is really good as well, with delicious bacon and house made dressing, all for the price you would pay for a crappy salad at a fast food restaurant. And the Trolley girls. The Trolley girls(they call themselves«The Bacon Bitches») couldn’t be more delightful. If you are in Mpls/St.Paul, find the Bacon Trolley and enjoy.

These guys are what they say they are. They are a bacon centric food truck with generous amounts of bacon within their dishes. I had the spinach salad which had a generous amount of crispy think cut bacon on a bed of spinach accompanied by a sliced hard boiled egg and cherry tomatoes. There was a salad dressing that had bacon in it as well. The salad was good, perhaps a hair pricey at six bucks but you did get a ton of bacon. I’ll be back to try the fries or the popcorn… perhaps with some of their seasoned salts, which looked very interesting(jalapeño lime, raspberry, plus at least 2 others. Their sides seem reasonably priced… depends on quantity in part I suppose at $ 2 for fries or $ 3 for the popcorn. Bottom line is that I love bacon and they cook it great. The food is tasty but perhaps a little pricey.(Unless they are using some special bacon… in which case they should say something about it… home made bacon?) Fair warning, some people do love non crispy… chew the fat sort of bacon(i prefer a bit of a mix), you may be disappointed here, I’m pretty sure all their bacon is crispy.

The Bacon Trolley is one of the newest food trucks to hit the streets of St. Paul, though technically speaking, I’m fairly certain it’s the only actual trolley to have hit the streets. Their focus, unsurprisingly, is all things pork related and mostly bacon-centric. The pork belly banh mi is fairly tasty; packed with the expected jalapenos, mayo, cilantro and pickled daikon, but could use some improvement in the bread department. It’s more akin to a hoagie roll, as it lacks the balance of a crusty exterior with a soft chewy center. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich is tasty, full of tender slow-cooked pork and lightly topped with a mild BBQ sauce. Their hand-cut fries are addictive and very, very good. And lastly, their Cuban sandwich leaves a fair amount to be desired and falls fairly flat. The trolley trailer scores many points in my book for design and overall character, and the people working here are very friendly. The smell of the bacon popcorn wafting through the streets will certainly lure me back at some point(insert your own Beggin’ Strips reference here), but the price point when compared to other trucks on the streets isn’t doing them any favors($ 8-$ 10 per main item, $ 3-$ 4 for sides).
