St. Michaels Inn

Bottom end of the acceptable category. Beds not the greatest, and the pillows were awful. Way too soft, no support. Woke up with headaches. Having said that, it was clean, breakfast okay, staff were okay. Not sure it was worth the price, but migjt be best you can afford. If that’s the case, then it will do, but definitely bring your pillow if you can. UPDATE: As we checked out, I told them about the mattress and pillows, and she told me they were in the process of replacing all of them. If you’re going, call them to find out if that’s been done. If not, take your own pillow, and bone up on your yoga. You’ll need it.

Outside cute, inside crappy. Old Motel 6 — not worth the price and too far from any of the downtown area. As one of our traveling group mentioned «I felt dirtier AFTER taking a shower».

This is a bare bones motel a mile outside of town. The rooms are dated, the beds are serviceable, and you can park your car right in front of your room. I found the room to be clean, the pool to be pleasant, and the staff to be helpful. Location was not conducive to a relaxing getaway: the hotel is right off the main drag and the only way to get in town is to drive or walk along the shoulder of a highway.
Given that we were in town for a wedding over the Memorial Day weekend, prices for most lodging in town was exorbitant. And it was helpful for the bride and groom to find such an affordable option. The lack of choices in St. Michaels are disappointing in that you can either stay at a budget motel (which is the St. Michaels Inn) or spend $ 500+ night.

This place is a ripoff. We found it to be overpriced. We needed two rooms and had to pay for two nights for each room because of their ridiculous two night minimum. They wouldn’t budge on their rule even though like I said we were already paying for two rooms, plus we were part of a wedding block. I asked them to please store something in their freezer as the rooms only have mini fridges. I double checked that it was going into the freezer and not the refrigerator, only when I went to retrieve it, it had indeed been in the refrigerator and not the freezer. It had defrosted and was totally ruined which was a problem for our stay. I wish they had just said no, and I would have made alternate arrangements. The rooms are old and run down. The bathrooms are the creepiest part, and I just tried to shower as quickly as possible without touching anything. The surfaces are mostly clean, but everything is old and musty. The free breakfast is gross, but it is free, so there’s that. Parking is good. That’s about it.

Great value! Clean, quiet, updated recently. The bathroom and plumbing were excellent. The clean pool was a wonderful break from hot travel, The front desk folks were friendly and helpful. We had spent the previous night at a smelly, musty establishment in Cambridge MD, and this was the antidote with fresh and clean surroundings. It is a budget Motel, and you get more than you would expect at this price.

I needed a cheap place to sleep over night. Room was clean, ac was cold and the tv was working. So I am going to keep this review brief, the place was quit, clean and the bathroom was perfectly fine. It’s a budget motel a few minutes from the village of St. Michaels the owner bought a run down Best Western and are slowing improving the place. The pool in the photo is gone and grassed over. Would I stay again — yes if I was just traveling thru.

Don’t stay here. Room was terrible. Hair in shower that didn’t belong to us. Drunk kids outside our door all night partying and management did nothing. Promised a refund and got nothing. I wouldn’t let my dog stay here. Go in town and find a nice place.

Room was adequate but run down. Breakfast was quite poor — overlooked hard-​boiled eggs and frozen sausage, cereal, odd-​tasting yogurt, and not very good bread. Overall the hotel is just a place to stay and nothing special or even comfortable.

ZERO STARS should be an option for this dump. Room was dirty and stunk like mold. The people who own this place have no care for your comfort and only care about the obscene rate they charge to stay here.

I am completely blown away that Best Western would want their brand associated with this establishment. I have stayed at Best Westerns before, and have generally had very pleasurable experiences. However, this was definitely not the case this time around.
A wedding brought me to this specific location, and while I certainly wasn’t expecting a five star experience, I left me with such a negative association of Best Western’s that I don’t think i’d ever be able to return to one.
For starters… the place is absolutely disgusting. Lingering odors coupled with a dirty bathroom and crusty bed sheets make you feel you are staying at a roach motel used by prostitutes and junkies.
Secondly, since we were there for a wedding we were not even in the room for a majority of the weekend. We returned to the room about 10pm Saturday night with a few other friends who were also staying at this location. After being in our room for about 10 minutes, another guest who was not associated with our party decided to come into our room uninvited. This woman appeared on some sort of amphetamine as she began to rabble incoherently to myself and a few friends. It started pretty harmless, but turned disturbing once she started bleeding outside of our room. We then shut the door to only have her continue to bang on the door trying to regain access. While I don’t necessarily blame this on the Hotel itself (I guess it could happen anywhere), the front desk refused to assess the situation when we called for their assistance. Can’t make this stuff up.
The icing on the cake though came on Sunday when we got our bill. The front desk casually charged us for an extra night due to «noise» and «room damage». This is something that they did NOT inform us of and will not provide any additional information as to what was actually damaged (we were in the room for probably a total of 10 hours all weekend and left it EXACTLY as we found it). It is laughable that they could even charge us for damages considering how run down and beat up this location is to begin with.
Needless to say, we will not be back and will NEVER recommend this place to anyone that would happen to be in St. Michaels. I will also be following up with Best Western corporate to let them know the owners of this location are trashing their brand.

Disgusting. Zero stars if I could. What a filth hole this hotel is. Your better off sleeping on the street.

Not quite a roach motel, in that we didn’t see any bugs (thankfully). Everything else was under par, though. The front desk staff was friendly, but the decent experience ended there. The rooms smelled musty and was incredibly dated, which can definitely be overlooked considering the price — it’s one of the cheaper spots around saint michaels. I had a harder time overlooking the hairs left all throughout the shower from pervious guests, the lack of sundries (shampoo, soap), the sparse and sub-​par breakfast, and the general crustiness.
Do-​able if you’re looking for a value.

This place is a craphole. But, you know it’s a craphole going in. So it’s really not a surprising disappointment… It’s more like you thought you were making a mistake going in, and then you turned out to be right. So, for this, I give 2 stars. You probably should have just stuck with your hunch!
BTW — There’s actually really cute places for $ 250 — B&Bs and stuff — on the water (!!) — just up the road. Definitely check them out. It is worth the extra scratch to avoid this place.

All the staff was very friendly and willing to
assist me with anything I needed. It was the perfect place to stay for a trip. The room was kept very nice, and the location was great for seeing what St. Michaels had to offer. Would definitely stay again!

«Worst Western» would be more appropriate.
Where to start. The obviously unhappy lady at the front desk would be good, since that’s where our experience began. She seemed rather put out that we were early. Sorry, we were assured by the people who had arranged our rooms, that early check in wasn’t a problem and we would at least be able to drop off our bags till the room was ready. Nope, no can do. So we visited St Michaels and Easton for a few hours. Came back at 3pm. Nope can’t check in, the room isn’t ready.
We finally are told our room will be ready in a couple minutes so go ahead and go back. We drive around to the rear of the building and park. We watched our Zombie Housekeeper strolling back and forth past our room. We are now wondering if it’s ready or not. Housekeeping Supervisor comes by so we ask. «Oh, yeah it’s ready». Apparently no communication between front and back of the house.
The room: Old. It’s all I got.
It was relatively clean, and didn’t smell funny, and the AC worked. Certainly not the worst place I’ve stayed. Beds kind of suck. My back hurts. Didn’t see any rusty water or anything. Showers were hot, hot HOT! Which was nice.
Breakfast: Standard fare, precooked frozen stuff. However, it appears the Managment is trying to save every last nickel by not putting food out if it appears there MIGHT not be any more guests coming. He offered to cook more but that’s not the point.
Staff: My experience wasn’t so great. The only nice people I dealt with were 2 ladies from housekeeping, and the lady making breakfast. The front desk lady being Queen of the Cranky Crew.
In short, if you’re desperate, it’s a bed, and I didn’t notice any bugs. However, there are NUMEROUS other (nicer) options for the same cost or slightly more. The rates in this area are grossly inflated. Apparently this place thinks they can cash in on that. Certainly isn’t worth the cost. I recommend finding someplace else if at all possible. So I guess a 1.5 stars as it’s not the absolute worst place I’ve ever stayed.

I tried ranking zero stars but it wouldn’t let me.
I cannot put into words the agonizing filth and disappointment of this establishment. Hearing «Best Western» I was thinking I could expect at least two star quality — not so much.
I second the consensus of the «old» smelling rooms — more like rank, musky, humid and damp. Remnants of a «smoke all you want» mixed with old used washcloth — everything from the AstroTurf carpet to crusty tiles in the bathroom and? clean linens felt soaked. Turning on the air conditioning does not help. We resorted to opening the window (backing up to someone’s residence).
That’s not the half if it. Morning after we checked in — no water! And no apology! Left for 6 hours only to return without water! No working toilets once the water came back! Still no apology. Rude front desk staff, most likely frustrated by the sheer volume of complaints.
Continental breakfast was underwhelming.
Overall — fail. Poor service, filthy old rooms, no water (?? Wtf), and refusing to switch rooms to one with a working toilet? It’s a wonder the building still stands. Pay the extra money and stay at a quality B&B. It surely can’t be worse.

Awful all around. Where to begin?
The night before I called to try to cancel the reservation as my spouse ended up in the ER after a car/​bike accident. They said I could only cancel prior to 3 (the reservation actually said 6). It was 8 p.m. No exceptions were made, even though my spouse was on an IV drip at the time I called.
Second, after getting an ok from my spouse that he would be ok if I traveled alone, I tried to check in at 3 p.m. — the ridiculously late time they start letting you in. The rooms were not ready. They would not be ready until 4. This from the establishment that had just dinged me on my reservation because I had not met the deadline.
Third, the room cost me $ 200. It was a dump. The beds were below-​average Motel 6 quality. The bathroom had pubes and head hair on the walls and floor and there were dirt marks. A simple run of the mop would have taken care of it. The tub had yellow discoloring. The room also smelled faintly of cigarette smoke despite being zoned as a NON-​SMOKING room.
The AC unit did not work as advertised. It would shut off randomly and turn on randomly without fail.
The TV is set so that the highest level of volume is about a 2 on a normal TV. You simply cannot hear your show if you lay back on your bed (you have to lie on your stomach and face the TV).
Trashy neighbors barged into their room next door at 2:15 a.m. with their rugrats zipping up and down the hallways like spawns of hell. You could hear everything. The walls are paper thin.
Keep in mind that this is $ 200. TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Would not recommend. Would never go back. Would avoid at all costs. Would rather go to a dentist for back-​to-​back root canals after gouging my eyeballs out and dipping myself in a vat of boiling vinegar than stay here.
Did I mention that it has a 1950s feel to it? It’s so outdated, a pair of bell bottoms is more in mode.

I concur with Kendyl. This is an affordable motel with a nice person at the front desk and not much more. The room was very large and seemed clean, but austere and simple. Bare minimum linens, toiletries, amenities. The pool was tiny and crowded — we wanted to use it because it was hot but just too crowded. There was free wi-​fi, which was great, and a breakfast that consisted of dry/​hard scrambled eggs, cereal, white bread choices (bagel, english muffin, bread) — it was better than nothing. It is on the outskirts of St. Michaels and not walking distance to the shops and restaurants.
I can usually sleep through anything, but even I couldn’t sleep over the jet-​engine-​loud air conditioner that went on and off all night long. And the room was huge, but only a hard queen-​sized bed in the middle of it — why not a king? I hate that «chicken on a spit» where you have to rotate on an axis so you don’t roll into your husband and wake him up… unfortunately I left my long weekend more tired than i started it because the sleep quality was so poor.
