Not the best YMCA in Saint Louis but it gets at least 3 stars for at least going thru a bit of a renovation and they have a large assortment of treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, and a weight room within all of the machines. On the plus side, the staff is always in a great and happy mood!

This is an older YMCA… it hasn’t had all the fancy updates of a lot of the other YMCAs in the greater St. Louis area, but somehow, it has remained in amazing shape over the years. The gym at this Y is well stocked with an array of machines, and since it is an older Y, it’s pretty easy to get a machine. Sure, you don’t have personal televisions on every machine like at a fancy gym, but if you are looking to get in shape on a budget, this is a high quality place to go. They have nearly everything you need, from treadmills to weights and bikes, just a standard decent gym. The indoor track is nice and runs along the top of the basketball courts. I myself have a rabid fear of running on this thing for fear of the thing going crashing to the floor below under my weight… this has never happened, but I also stopped risking it… God only knows. The pool is pristine. Never a problem with the pool… sure it reeks of chlorine, but find me an indoor pool that doesn’t have this problem. Finally, this place has some awesome classes. They have a cardio tap class, gymnastics(with a fully stocked gym) for kids, swim lessons for everyone from little kids up, yoga, and dozens of different summer camp opportunities for children. So it’s older and not quite as fancy as newer YMCA’s, but it still has all the same great opportunities, classes, and facilities.
