Get my nails done here — Katie is amazing. The price is fair for shellac mani & pedi and the quality of the shellac nail polish is fantastic. My nails *won’t chip* for at least 2 weeks! I play flag football and wash my hands multiple times a day. My nails still look fantastic. Highly recommend.

This place is great! I was the last appointment for Jon last night. I was nervous because I have a ton of long thick hair, and I figured he would be checked out by his last appointment. SO WRONG! Jon did an amazing job on my hair. Took my wild lion’s mane of hair and turned it into a sophisticated sleek collarbone length cut. If you have long, thick hair, Jon is your guy! Perfect layers and took the time to texturize and get the bulkiness out. Thanks Jon!

I had my hair cut last week by Patrick. I extremely satisfied! It was my first time getting my hair cut in SLT, after I moved here from Massachusetts. Good service and very detailed. Can’t wait to get my hair cut again.

I love, love love this place. I admit this review is a bit overdue, but better late than never right? First of all everyone is super nice. I went there for a pretty simple blowout and manicure, and both were excellent. Taylor did a great job on my hair — I mean it was the softest it has ever been — EVER. Magically, it also lasted quite a while. Then there was adorable Katie, who did my manicure. The quality was great and she does incredible art. All in all I was surprised not just by the quality of work and friendliness of everyone, but also the prices. Since its hard to find pricing anywhere, I assumed it was because it had to be so expensive. I was completely wrong. In fact both of services were beyond reasonable.
Also note: The atmosphere is modern in a warm and welcoming way. It’s full of stylish people and fun music, but you don’t feel out of place. Also they have an old-​school barber shop on the other side — which is just AWESOME. Seriously guys, I’m shooting myself in the foot here by making it harder to get an appointment — but these are businesses we need to support to keep around. Now that I’ve recovered from holiday spending, I’ll be hoping back in soon for more great work.

I decided to check out V Vegaz back in college because it’s only a 10 – 15 minute walk from campus AND students get a 10% discount. Even after I graduated from college, I still occasionally come to V Vegaz for haircuts.
The salon itself is pretty cool and contains quirky/​alternative decorations. The interior is different from what most people think of when they picture a «salon.» The stylists who work here are always super chill/​friendly and I’ve actually received haircuts from various V Vegaz stylists over the last few years. These days, Mike is my go-​to guy for haircuts. From simple trims to chopping off inches of hair, I can trust Mike to do a great job. I also appreciate the fact that he’s not overly chatty but not awkwardly quiet either. Keep up the fantastic work!

My husband gut a great hair cut here from Peaches. Most hairdressers have no idea how to cut his curly hair but Peaches did a good job.

I had a really nice first visit there. I wish I remembered the name of my stylist, but I don’t. I called that day and they were able to squeeze me in, they knew they could color my hair, but weren’t sure how much they would be able to complete in the time frame they had open. They were able to color my entire hair, shampoo, everything. The place was so interesting, It reminded me of somewhere Kat Von D would work. I am a friendly person but after a long day of work, I was just in the mood to read my books and the stylist was very sweet and personable, but respected that and it wasn’t awkward or anything. They are a full service salon, and I live down the street, so I will be back to try and get my nails done.

Still a huge fan of this place. To update my last review, Peery has since moved on but I’m in good hands with Laura. Laura has this amazing calm energy where she can chat you up but make you feel relaxed. My hair looks great after the cut she gave me (which was long overdue). Laura was training a new employee on my latest day there but I still got exceptional service and another amazing head massage. I just love this place!

Billy is one of the most down to earth barbers I’ve ever met. He has a collection of interesting stories to share about his travels around the States. I wouldn’t say I received the best haircut yet, but Billy seems like someone who is easy to work with, so I think the haircuts will only get better from here on out.
Pro tip: Billy likes it when you’re prepared. Bring a photo of what you’d like and be really clear about how you treat your hair, what products you use, etc.

I’ve been going here for a few years now and I love it! I was seeing Ellen but she left several months ago and I didn’t want to find someplace new since the location is so convenient and I like the vibe of the salon, so I tried a couple new people at V Vegas. I can’t remember the name of the stylist I had for my first post-​Ellen cut, but it was only so-​so. Then yesterday I tried Laura and she did a FANTASTIC job. She gave me one of the best consultations I’ve ever had. It was obvious she wanted to make sure she was giving me exactly what I wanted and it totally paid off. I showed her photos of the length, style, and bangs that I wanted, and she executed all the elements perfectly. I’ve already booked with her again in a couple months. I’m hoping she sticks around for a while, because I’d love to keep seeing her!

Professional, edgy salon that treats hairstyling like an art. Tiffany has done my hair color twice now, first purple now orange. I absolutely loved it both times! They really take pride in their work as artists should: the purple took two attempts, and because the first try didn’t work, they didn’t charge me and made an appointment the very next day to fix it. The second time it came out perfect! (Unlike the Paul Mitchell school, who sent me home with pinkish hair after 4 struggling hours, not the purple I asked for.) Then several weeks later when I went in for orange, Tiffany remembered how my hair reacted to the purple and recommended the best way to do orange. I really appreciated her remembering! I won’t get my hair done anywhere else in St. Louis.

Laura is now my go to for haircuts! I woke up one day and finally mustered up the courage to chop off my long hair. I was a major nerd and researched all over STL for the best… Laura was amazing! She was patient and gave me her input while also listening to what I wanted. I was pretty nervous but she put me right at ease and made me confident that my hair would turn out great — which it did! She was thorough and obviously a perfectionist… AND I didnt even cry as they swept up my 6 inches of dead frizzy hair :)
The vibe of the salon is great as well… clean but hipster-​ish. I actually look forward to my next haircut here – good thing my hair grows fast!

I’ve had a lot of interesting haircut experiences, as I’m sure we all have. As a teenager, I went to Great Clips and the like; in college, I went to JC Penny’s, because apparently I felt 85. I finally started going to a decent salon that I trusted while in graduate school up in Milwaukee. I had the same stylist for two years.
Moving to a new city, I was not excited for the stylist hunt. It’s worse than finding a doctor or dentist, I swear.
For reference, a bit about my hair: it’s thick. Noticeably thick. Thick and wavy. Every single stylist I’ve ever had has mentioned it. If I don’t get the right cut, I end up looking like I was stranding on a desert island for five years, or like a confused 14 year-​old woman baby. Last summer, I shaved my head – a sort of starting over/​identity crisis moment – and I’ve been growing it out since. To be expected, growing out a shaved head is just as awful as it sounds. I tried to own it like a good feminist, but there were definitely bad days.
Now, a year later, I have a sort of pixie boy-​cut thing going on as my hair continues to grow out. My goal is to get it back to shoulder-​length at least. Because my hair is sooooo thick, it’s easy for stylists to miss things.
Not Megan. She got right down to business in the most friendly, welcoming way possible. She asked what I wanted and I said, «I’m growing it out, but it’d be great if I could do it without looking like a junior high school band director.» I’m glad she laughed because in retrospect it was probably a really weird comment.
But she knew exactly what to do, and we had a lot of fun chatting while she worked. She thinned my hair properly so I don’t have weird flyaways and trimmed around my ears to emphasize my piercings. She always explained what she was doing and why without me having to ask, so I knew she had listened to what I wanted.
The price was I thought fair – $ 45 plus tip including shampoo and style. My last stylist charged $ 55, and Megan did a much better job, I think.
My girlfriend (straight Asian hair) also got her haircut here. We were able to schedule at the same time, which was super convenient. Lauren was her stylist, and she did an AMAZING job. Not everyone can work with Asian hair, either.
Needless to say, we’ll be going back.

I have been going to V Vegaz for almost three years now. To everyone who has read great reviews regarding Ellen I have some bad news-​she recently left the salon (cue mourning). I was graciously offered 50% off my next two services there, so I decided to stick with this salon. I made an appointment with Laura, who is new to the salon. She did a great job and immediately got my vision. I walked in with a nasty pile of hair that had been in a rubber band all day. An hour later I walked out with perfect curls and more defined layers. The only negative was that my appointment began 15 minutes after the scheduled time, although I did have the last appointment of the day. Also, save your quarters and make sure that you do valet at Moonrise Hotel-​V Vegaz will validate!

This salon was recommended to me by a friend and, after reading online reviews, I was really excited to try it. I made an appointment for consult and cut. In my experience that’s 90 minutes. I expected to pay for both. I specified on the phone that I had waist length curly/​wavy hair and wanted shaggy layers and bangs cut in. They gave me an appointment with M***.
I went to my appointment and was greeted by my stylist. He took me to the chair and asked what I wanted. I had photos to show him. Simple layers and fringe-​y face framing. He looked at one and said he didn’t have time to do it. Never looked at the rest. Honestly, I should have walked out.
He took me to shampoo and spent 20 minutes washing my clean, product free hair. He apologized the whole time that he didn’t have time to give a scalp massage.
Back at the chair I told him the things I definitely wanted were some kind of bangs and shaggy layers/​fringe around my face «to take the weight off» and I didn’t want the back shorter than shoulder length. He parted my hair down the center of the back and started cutting. After he cut it he took me back to the sink for a re-​wet. He had almost finished when his next appointment arrived, and I was put in a chair under a dryer hood. After he finished with his next client he had someone else take me out of the hood and dry my hair with a diffuser. I ended up with a frizzy mass of half dry hair and blisters on my scalp from the dryer hood.
I should add that the entire time I was in the hood, I was staring at a coffee pot that other stylists were offering to clients. I was never offered anything and I’m too polite to just take it.
I ended up losing 3 or 4 inches off of my length which brought it to about my natural waist. Fine. Long, blunt layers (about 3 inches deep) that hang off my head like a shelf and a slightly slithered front edge. No bangs, no fringe, no layers to speak of. I could have walked into any crap shop in the city and said «long layers and slither the edge» and had the exact same cut for ¹⁄₃ of the cost.
I called the next day and asked for a fix and they offered one time the next day. I took the appointment and then cancelled. No one ever asked my name or the name of the stylist on either call. I couldn’t imagine that whatever happened next would be an improvement.
I made an appointment at another salon to get it fixed. She pointed out to me that I had chunks of hair around my crown that were a good 3 inches longer than surrounding hair and the hair on the entire right side of my head was more than an inch longer than the left. She was so appalled that she actually took pictures.
I want to think that, since I didn’t ask for a stylist, they put me in with one who wasn’t good with hair like mine. However, he has good reviews on this site for curly cuts. I really think that they saw a chubby, middle aged woman walk in and just wrote me off. Ive had my hair cut all over the US and Canada and Ive never felt so disgusted by any salon. Angry, sick, and completely disregarded as a person.

First off, the price of a haircut is half what I paid in New York. And then to find a shampoo, scalp massage, and blowdry are included in that price? It comes out to an amazing find.

After being here a few times and trying out a few different stylists, I’ve got to say that Laura is hands down the best one! I only need to show her a pic and she gets exactly what I want, even when I can’t put it in words. I’ve never gotten so many compliments on a cut before, but she’s just that talented with hair.

This is my first experience with getting my hair colored and I couldn’t be more pleased! Colette took my ideas and made them into something beautiful and feasible for my hair. I was pretty nervous at first but she is simply an artist and a doll to interact with. I’m pretty sure I’m addicted now! It looks so natural but has that pop I was looking for. She was also very informative on how to care for the new look.
Ellen did me cut and while it’s very similar to what I’m used to, it holds like it was meant to be. She gave me a crash course in how to style and care for my new do and was just a pleasure to chat with. She was a genius at seeing my ideas and telling me what is possible and what would look good. She was kind and made me feel at ease with my first experience at a pro salon. I’m excited to get my next cut and see what kind of fun we can have! Most importantly, she took my limp thin hair and made it into a functional and voluminous masterpiece!
The salon is super friendly and I had a great experience. A bit pricey but so far it was totally worth it. I’ll most likely be back for some more layers and some bolder color!
Update: as I adjust to the new color I’m super in love. I don’t know how I went so long without it!!!

This review is really for Jaime, who has been cutting my hair for about a year. She is basically the shit. She’s personable and easy to talk to AND she does amazing things to my hair. After half heartedly growing out my layers for a year, I came in with a picture and the completely impulsive idea to chop off all my hair. I expected Jaime to shoot me down, but she was just as excited and she did a great job on my new short hair.
Like so good, I get compliments on my cut at least once a week from total strangers. No one has ever stopped me to talk about my hair before and now this is an actual thing in my life. AND my thick annoying hair is so much easier to style now.
Point is, don’t be scared to make a change. Bring in your pictures and your ideas and chat with your stylist. People here know what they’re doing!
