History

Established in 2003.

Neal and Jodi Goone were thrilled with how well their second child’s bar mitzvah party went. The dancing, the music, the atmosphere were all just what they wanted. There was only one problem, they had to go to a Chicago company to get it because there was, at the time, not a high-​quality, high-​energy interactive dancing DJ company in St. Louis. Most of the Bar and Bat Mitzvah entertainment in St. Louis usually had one DJ playing older music, maybe one emcee, and that’s it.

They wanted something more, something they felt was really professional. So, that was the impetus for the creation of Utopia Entertainment. The company was founded in 2002 after Jodi left her job as an educator at Solomon Schechter Day School to take on the new enterprise full-​time. Since then, Utopia has worked hard to set up top-​notch galas for everything from weddings to school events to corporate get-​togethers.
