The Studio

Pro’s: Great location, friendly and professional staff. My hair and makeup was just what I asked for (I was worried it was too much but it looked perfect in the pics). The photographer made me feel comfortable and beautiful and had great pose ideas (although I wish they’d have used the blue wall a little more in my shoot, it was so pretty). And the order was a week early to the quoted time so that was all great.
Con’s: My biggest beef was the misleading language of the ‘deal’. I can’t be the only person who believes «CD of 20 images» implies high resolution. Does anyone else see the irony in having a CD that is ‘best viewed by phone’ (as she described when I was picking out my pics). They weren’t kidding either, 36−40kb. Really people? Ok well at least allow me to buy untouched high resolution images, you already have them and won’t have to do any work, the lighting was so great I didn’t need touchups. Nope they won’t sell untouched full res images. Well you are losing easy business then. Might wanna rethink that.
Overall great experience but buyer beware that the ‘deal’ isn’t really what you might think.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience. I bought the groupon and was not going to go through with the session because I thought it would be awkward and cheap feeling. Instead, Stacey made my hair and makeup gorgeous and Krissy helped me pick out my outfits for the pictures. She spent so much time making me feel comfortable and helping me with the poses. Debbie helped me pick out my pictures, and showed me how they would look if I purchased the book. I walked in feeling like a cow and walked out feeling like a princess. I actually left with only buying one picture and on my way home, I called and told Debbie I was coming back to order the book. She told me that my husband was going to love it. I told her that the pictures were as much for me as him because I have never felt that good about myself. I have already sent three of my friends there, and will continue to do so. I loved it!

Wow! I took advantage of a Groupon deal and decided to have some boudoir photos taken. I wasn’t sure what this experience would be like going in. I couldn’t have felt more at ease. This business and the women who run it could not be any more professional, courteous, down-​to-​earth, and just plain fun to work with. Their attention to detail is outstanding and Chrissy’s photographic abilities are amazing. The pics turned out stunning; couldn’t believe they were me! Plus, the experience was so much fun. Would recommend every woman takes advantage of doing this at some point in her life. This is the BEST place in St. Louis to go! Believe me, you’ll be thrilled with the results.

Bought a Groupon and had a patient (I am a physician) with an emergency whom I had to take back to the operating room immediately and so could not get to my scheduled session on time and of course could not give 48 hrs notice. But «The Studio» refused to reschedule me for the session that I bought on Groupon. Even airlines are not so uncompassionate. BAD BAD BAD business!

Oh My Goodness!!! I just picked up my «little black book» yesterday. My anniversary is not until Sunday, but I couldn’t wait and I gave it to him last night. He was absolutely blown away! It is far beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I am in love. Thank you, thank you, thank you St. Louis Boudoir by The Studio!
Here is breakdown of my experience:
Once I purchased my Groupon, I was waiting schedule my session same day as my friend. All the waiting made me totally forget about scheduling. My due date for scheduling per the Groupon was June 1^st. I finally got around to calling on July 10^th. They reminded me of my deadline but offered to put me on a waiting list. I figured I was totally going to lose out. (They also let me know that no matter what I could always use the purchase price of my Groupon) To my surprise I received a call on July 11^th asking me if I could come in the next day for a session. I said YES, then started to get nervous… I am not a small girl, not huge, but by no means tiny (5’8″, 160-​ish). I talked myself down and began picking my outfits.
I showed up a bit early and looked at some of the examples of the «little black books». Stacey was up front and we chatted for a bit. This really helped with the nerves. I didn’t feel judged or uncomfortable. It turned out she was the hair and make-​up artist. I was really pleased with how my hair/​make-​up turned out. I am pretty easy going. She asked what I wanted and I told her. She did exactly that. I felt great!
After hair and make-​up, Chrissy came out and introduced herself. She is so darn cute with her bubbly personality. She asked to see my wardrobe choices. I had NO clue. I seriously packed so much stuff. I had no idea what would look good in photos with my body type. With her help I narrowed it down to 2 outfits and headed into the studio. For some reason after meeting her and talking to Stacey while in hair/​make-​up I wasn’t very nervous anymore. Chrissy was so helpful. I normally don’t take very good photos. For every pose she got down and showed it to me first. (Thankfully!) I had fun. I couldn’t believe I had fun being almost naked in front of someone I didn’t know, but I did. The other great thing about the studio is for the most part you are alone. There aren’t a lot of people in the suite.
After my session, I changed and headed out to meet Debbie. She shows you all of your photos and you choose which ones you would like. I had already decided before I arrived that I was going to purchase the «little black book». Picking out 10 photos doesn’t sound hard… before my session I seriously didn’t think I would even find 5 I would like. To my surprise, I had to cut back; I had chosen 20 that I felt comfortable with-​making it much harder to choose just 10 for the book. (I got the CD of 20 that came as an option with my Groupon) I explained to Debbie some of my concerns and reasons for some of the photos I didn’t like-​she had to remind me that they could «hide» some of my imperfections (I was skeptical) so I continued with them. I am so glad that I did. They look amazing in the book.
The last thing about the session that I would like to add is the fact they did not push you to purchase anything. I was really worried about that. I have used other Groupons for services and they always tried to sell me more, almost making it uncomfortable. I was worried about spending a little extra for the book (I am cheap) but Debbie assured me it would be worth it. SHE WAS SO RIGHT. He is so happy with them. So am I. I am happy that they do not look overly airbrushed. Let’s be honest he knows what I «really» look like-​if it was over airbrushed he would know. The ladies make you feel so comfortable; I wish I could do this yearly. I will definitely be back.

I received a Groupon as a gift from a friend at my bridal shower. The entire staff was professional and very prepared. Each staff member was very professional and they worked as a well oil machine. Stacie completed my makeup and was open to suggestions; she really aimed to give me exactly what I was looking for. Chrissy, the photographer, was excellent! She made me feel comfortable immediately and walked me through what the entire shoot would look like — she even helped me select the right shoes and accessories. Debbie finished the shoot by showing me the photos – she demonstrated all the possibilities for prints. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend! It was fun, flirty and a great boost to any girl’s esteem!
They also do family style photography and had beautiful samples of those throughout the building — so if boudoir isn’t for you, there are more traditional options.

I just picked up my finished «little black book» of boudoir photos for my husband’s birthday and overall I’m very satisfied with how it turned out. I was pretty anxious going in because I’d invested A LOT in this whole process (money + lots of time picking outfits, hair style, etc) so I wanted the pics to turn out fabulous. Here’s the breakdown…
The Studio is a pretty small space so you’re the only client there for most of the time. Hair & makeup might start on the next client while you’re finishing up your photos, but otherwise you’re there by yourself. I came prepared with my two outfits and magazine photos of the hair and makeup I wanted. Nothing difficult, all pretty standard. I HATED my makeup. Looked nothing like the images I’d shown her (smoky eyes, that’s all I wanted!). I asked her to make a few changes and it looked better, but still I was very disappointed. Same with the hair. I didn’t want a different style, just fuller and slightly messy. She did tease at the roots, but didn’t spray it or anything so it all fell flat minutes later. Causing the photographer to have to tease it up with her hands before every shot. Consequently, all of the poses I ended up picking were side shots or from behind, any kind that made my makeup less noticeable.
That process over with, I changed into my first outfit and met with Chrissy (I think that’s her name?), the photographer. She was awesome! Spent a few minutes asking me if I wanted to play down any parts of my body or accentuate anything, what my husband liked, and how the overall process was going to go. Every shot was 100% posed. She told me exactly what to do and even modeled the poses for me first (some of them were a workout). This is exactly what I needed because left to my own devices to look sexy, everything would have been a disaster. She was really friendly, bubbly, and encouraging thru the whole thing and made me feel totally comfortable.
All the pictures took about 45 minutes. After about 15 minutes all of the images were ready and I went through each one with Debbie. She was very patient and I didn’t feel rushed to pick out my choices (you pick everything out right then). I was told they’d be ready in 4 – 6 weeks. I left feeling really good about everything (minus the makeup…)
The only other negative came when I still hadn’t received a call 5.5 weeks later. My husband’s birthday wasn’t for another week, but he’s away in the military and I only had the weekend before his birthday to see him. This fell after the 6 week range, so I figured the book would still be in. I was told that the book had been scheduled to get in the day before his birthday, but they were able to move it up. Not a huge deal, but very annoying that they cut it that close. And that they told me it would be 4 – 6 weeks, not literally the day before.
Also FYI — they phototouch the crap out of these photos. And I have to say mine looked decent without any touch-​ups, but once I got them back my skin was flawless. Almost to the point of too much, though. I noticed a couple photos where my hand was blending into my leg because they’d just overdone it.

I bought a Groupon for a boudoir photo shoot with hair and makeup included. The photographer, Chris, was very professional and really put me at ease. She is so detailed-​oriented and will direct you every step of the way. She spent a lot of time making every shot perfect, and I will tell you my pictures turned out better than I could hoped for. I was going for artistic and elegant and she did just that. You also get to see your pictures immediately after your shoot. If they ever have another Groupon, I would tell you to jump on it… you will not be disappointed! It is really a great deal so do it for yourself or for your significant other.
