The Lash Loft Salon & Spa

Me and my wife just left the lash loft. First of they told us our appointment had been change and they called to notify us. This was not true at all. I got the facial first, it was pretty good no extraction though. Then… I get my massage. We paid for her to roughly rub large amounts of oil all over us. This was not a trained massage therapist. This was a lady paid to rub oil all over us roughly. I don’t have time to explain how bad this massage was. In fact that’s the last time I call it that. Then my wife didn’t get her full hour and we had to «remind» them to give us wine. Point blank, I can’t support a business that can care less if they provide a good service. I read an article about the owner and it sounded legit! She was ambitious and wanted to offer something great. I hope that she finds that same fire and re-​sparks this place.

This place is horrible. I paid for a manicure and all I got was oil massage on my nails and a brief nail trim. Keep in mind this cost $ 25. All joking aside, it took the lady five minutes before she told me I was done. My cuticles were not trimmed, my nails were not filed. I normally do not write reviews on Unilocal,but this place is an absolute nightmare. I’ve had countless manicures and this by far was the worst and shortest.

And I’ve left messages for the owner. She has yet to return my call. She clearly does not care that people are not satisfied with the level of service her staff provides or the reputation her salon has in the city.

This was the absolute worse experience in a «Spa» I have ever had. I could write a few paragraphs but the worst thing tops everything else.
I asked to have my eyebrows waxed. She brought me back to this room with a dirty looking white lay down chair. She did not put any kind of paper on it before she had me lay down. She did wipe it down with a towel though. After she was doing my second eye, I smelled a foul odor. It had a foul vagina smell but by this time she was almost done.
When I got outside, I told my friend what happened and she said they probably use that same wax and stick for bikini waxing.
Needless to say, I rushed home and did a deep clean mask on my face.
NEVER GO THERE!!! I think I am scarred for life!!!

Total nightmare from beginning to end. I called to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance for 4 services with 2 guests. The receptionist was a novice at best. I called the day before to confirm our appointments and they had never been made.
Reluctantly I made the appointments again. Upon our arrival we were still missing 1 appointment (they had trouble figuring out why I used 1 name for multiple appointments, since I was paying for all the services I made the reservation under my name only) so one of us did not have a pedicure appointment.
The salon needs a good scrubbing and perhaps a scented candle. It smelled like fried food and was a less than desirable environment to wait in. I overhead girls gossiping about all sorts of stuff through the extremely thin walls. I finally went and waited in my car for my friend to get her services done. I certainly hope her experience was better than mine. I’d not recommend my worst enemy to this dump. Tabitha’s Salon Takeover needs to get a hold of this epic fail of a «spa» before it gets ran into the ground!

I had never heard of this place til it showed up on Groupon, and the deal for 2 massages, facials and pedicures, plus champagne was a steal so I bought it to use with a friend. AFTER I bought it, I checked the reviews here, and I was a little worried about how my experience would go. First off, scheduling the appointment for these services was a nightmare. If we wanted to go in and get all three services in one appointment, it would be months before we could. So reluctantly, I split up the services. Apparently the pedicure was what was making it difficult so we went for that first and separately. I’d been used to an amazing nail place in Ladue, but I figured this place would be even better since it was a spa. Well, we could only go one at a time, and I literally propped my foot on the nail girl’s lap. There was no foot bath, other than a bowl of water on the floor. She did not seem to know what she was doing, didn’t trim my nails or get rid of dead skin, and got the top coat all over my toes. Seriously, the polish was chipping by the next day. Part 2: the massages, facials and champagne. Well, they were out of champagne, so we got gypped out of that entirely. The massages were the redeeming part of this experience, and the only reason I gave them 2 stars. My friend and I both got massaged by Danielle?, I think, and she was good. Excellent massage and she did some stretching as well, which I really appreciated. The facials were stated to be only cleansing and massaging, but even the massaging for this was less than I had gotten at a previous facial. No blackhead extraction or exfoliation. The facial was relaxing, but there were a couple times where a hot towel was put on my face and left for so long I thought the girl had fallen asleep. My previous facial experience was an hour long, but this one was maybe 40 minutes.
Long story short, I would not go back to place again, and honestly, I recommend against buying the Groupons as well. MAYBE schedule a massage there but otherwise, don’t risk it.

I got the groupon for the brazilian wax. I have had many brazilians done and never had any issues. When I got to the spa I was given a clip board to fill out, which was understandable, but one page should have been a warning saying initial here acknowledging you will not be refunded for any purposes basically. That should have told me that many issues had occurred in the past. So moving on to my experience. The lady was nice and a talkative. At first things seemed to be going as usual, but once she got lower it seemed to be more painful than usual. I dismissed the pain thinking it was nothing. She started repeating the same areas over and over assuring me she was just getting the last couple of hairs. Then she starts pulling on my hairs with her hands and I was confused. I ask her what is happening and she says the wax isn coming off. So she grabs this bottle and puts it on it and all I feel is burning. So I ask her to stop. It only seems to get worse as she moves along. Finally she tells me she got it all except for a couple hairs here and there that I could shave. All I could think is if I wanted to shave I wouldn’t have come here. Still in pain I sit up to see that she had missed most of the area of concern and not just a couple hairs, but large patches. I was so angry but in so much pain I had to get out. I get home in tears to find the entire thing swollen, my legs stuck together because so much wax had been left on and in so much pain it hurt to move. For two days It hurt to move, and I realized she had removed a lot of skin. I have never ever had that happen to me. It was so bad that the majority of it ended up scabbing over. I called to inform them of the issue that basically not only was the job not done, but I was harmed. They told me I could come back in and they would finish the job. All I could think was why in the world would I want to come back after what had just happened to me when I know that no trained professional should be capable of doing that. It appears that they cannot afford to lose a single cent even if they are in the wrong. I am very disappointed and hope that I can warn others before they make the same mistake that I did.

I went today with my boyfriend and had an amazing experience. The massage therapist and esthetician were amazing and professional. I will definitely be going back.

I wanted to like the Lash Loft, but I won’t be back. The owner waxed me, and she was talkative and professional, but she didn’t budget enough time to finish properly and got rushed at the end. She missed big patches.

This place is disgusting. I would not take a dog here to get it groomed. It looked dirty, the stairs leading in were broken. Fortunately the person opening the store was running late so after peeking in, I bolted. I think it’s pushing it to have ‘spa’ in the name. Yuck. I’m all for rustic, I’ve been to spas in developing countries that were better and more affordable. GROSS.

I had two good experiences prior to my latest one. The first couple times, I over looked alot of bull because I really needed services. Things such as, the bad or lack there of, of décor. I was expecting to be wowed, considering their fees and services. The wide open space was merely filled with furniture and it just isn’t inviting. Plain walls, crappy retail shelves, fake window treatments!?! The office is way more decorated than the rest of the place! But clients dont go in there! I could go on…
So this last time, I walked in and had to put on my «do you see me» pose. This was my third visit and my first time being greeted by a receptionist. She asked my name and if I had been there before. I told her yes and then she proceeded to check if I had a record on file. This impressed me cause it builds great client/​professional relationships. I was asked to sit before my appointment, no problem, but as soon as I did, I was called back for service.
I love love love love the manicurist, Shontay! If I could afford for her to come to my house, I would. We get so indulged, I forget I’m in a salon. She a keeper! She gets 10 stars from me!
Here are the reasons I probably won’t return.
1. I am a stickler for restrooms. If your establishment has an appealing restroom, I am a client for life. This one lacks everything. Two thumbs down.
2. The manicuring room is painful to look at. Visuals can place you in a calm mind frame and it can be rejuvenating. Update the furniture and add some pazazz to match the mood of the professional, cause she is worth it!
3. Keep change. I waited 15 minutes while the receptionist scurried around asking everyone for it.
4. The wifi code was crazy long like almost twenty characters!
If they could/​would put money back into their business, this place would be real nice.

I received a groupon to The Lash Loft for Valentine’s Day for a 60 minute massage and chocolate facial. I looked up pictures online and figured it looked nice, but when I arrived it was nothing like the pictures led me to believe. Fast forward to my services (which they started 15 minutes late, even though I was 15 minutes eary) — the lady giving my massage was talking so much she actually stopped massaging to talk to me. No bueno. Every other massage I’ve ever gotten primarily focused on your back and shoulders, but no, not this massage– my back got no love until I told her I did a back workout so I could be sore for my massage. The entire time I could hear countless male friends of employees entering the salon to socialize– not relaxing or comfortable knowing I’m half naked and right outside my door there are multiple men just hanging out. Halfway through my massage, the lady doing my facial came in and applied countless oils to my face while I was still being massaged. Overall, I was very disappointed and felt mislead by the services they promised on groupon. I will never be back.

Annie Bathani did my lash extensions at the Lash Loft and she does an amazing job. I will never go anywhere else.

If I could give it negative stars, I would. There was DRIED BLOOD on the table that they wax people on, the double boiler thing that the wax was in was absolutely disgusting (it was caked with what looked like a years worth of old dried wax), the girl missed a ton of hair and seemed not to be very adept at her line of work as she had to pull multiple times on the muslin in several spots. I will NEVER be back here and I will tell everyone I know how nasty this place was for a wax.
Oh and some things I forgot: I left there with chunks of wax all up in my business and a bruise on my arm from biting it to keep from screaming in pain. (To be fair, she did offer me a towel to stuff in my mouth instead, but I declined). I would have left the place earlier but they have a policy to charge your card if you cancel an appointment and I’m really not very confrontational.

I decided on the Lash Loft because I was having a hard time finding somewhere in St. Louis that does lash extensions. At first I was scared off because of some of the Unilocal reviews, then a friend told me she had a good experience there while using her groupon, so I decided to give them a shot.
Their hours are great (open until 9 during the week!) and I was able to get in the same evening I called. Prices are right in line with what I’ve seen at other salons in other cities, the bonus was at the Lash Loft a fill is included in the price.
Natalie did my lashes. She was very nice and did a great job explaining how the lashes worked, what she was doing, and the after-​care instructions. I’m extremely happy with the results & am thrilled I no longer need to worry about mascara.
The only reason I’m not giving the Lash Loft a 5 star rating is because I think the atmosphere of the salon is lacking a bit. With some minor improvements in décor, this could be a great salon/​spa!

Scheduled an appt for lashes two days prior to actual visit. Provided credit card info to receptionist who insisted that this was needed to «hold» appointment. When I showed up 30 minutes early, I was told that because they were not able to secure the charges on the card I provided, my appointment slot had been filled with another client. (That part was my bad — needed to transfer funds. But still…) Apparently the receptionist was new and didn’t know the protocol. So. although my better judgment told me to RUN, I went ahead and let them run my card, and rescheduled. I get regular massages, manis/​pedis, etc. and I’ve NEVER had to pay up front — who DOES that? Is that a minority business thing? I try to support my peeps, but there always seems to be something «not quite right».
I’m holding my breath. Don’t think I’ll go back after this, though. The place is very dark (like Nicole S stated) and the décor is less than spa-​like. While I’m sure there was business being taken care of, it appeared that all of the people who work there were taking a break b/​c they were all huddled up near the back. The only good thing I can say about Lash Loft thus far? They are next door to Mom’s Diner, my new favorite soul food joint! lol (see that review)

I initially went in for a Grouopn for a bikin wax and it was terrific! While I was there I decided to check out the lashes they were offering. They look really natural and they had a promotion so I thought I’d give it a try.
I’ve been in multiple times now and really like the lashes however upon my last visit I was told that if I didn’t come in every 2 weeks for a refill that I would be charged a higher fee. Initially I was told that depending on how your own lashes naturally shed would determine how often you’d need to come in for a refill but that they suggested every 2 weeks would be good but it was up to me. I also travel a lot and am out of the country for weeks at a time so this is not going to work for me.
I don’t like being told 2 different stories, and feel like I was sold a false bill of goods so to speak. Not sure if I will return or look for another salon in the area who has a more liberal and customer-​centric policy… will keep you all posted

My experience differed completely from Allison B’s. I also had the Groupon for the Herbology Body Retexturizer. I booked my apointment early in the day. When I arrived, the receptionist seated me in the lounge area to fill out the forms. There were no lights on, not even candles or lamps, and no music playing. The receptionist then brought me a silky robe, but gave no instructions on where I could put it on, so I just held it confused.
When it was time for my treatment, 10 minutes after the scheduled time, I was led into a room to get ready. I understand they want to allow time for you to fill out forms, which is why they ask you to arrive 15 minutes early (which I did). The woman took a really long time to return after I got undressed. She used the brush to put oil on my legs and feet and briefly massaged it in. No herbs were sprinkled on my body at all. She completely skipped my arms, back, and neck! Didn’t even touch them! I was then covered in the ‘wrap’ (tarp) and the woman left the room for ~20 minutes. No neck/​scalp massage for me. She came in, cleaned off my legs with hot towels, and that was it.
I was so disappointed. I’m glad I payed the Groupon price rather than the full price (I believe it’s quoted as a $ 110 value or something?), but even THAT amount was too much for the service I received.

I visited the Lash Loft three times. I wouldn’t return at this point, however I had good experiences there the male massage therapist was excellent, I had a killer mani and facial with cyrena, but The lady traci who did my lashes taped my lowwer lashes to my face and it was really painful to remove the tape. The owner and the receptionist seemed bi polar and I did not like thier attitudes. I love to support minority owned buisness but once I discovered the Four Seasons Spa I decided to skip the hassle.

I’ve only been to Lash Loft Day Spa once, but I guarantee I’ll return.
I discovered the spa because of my Groupon for an herbology body retexturizer. When I called to make the appointment (Evening hours AND downtown near home! Yay!), I admitted that I had no idea what was in store, so the lovely woman on the phone (I think it was Natalie, the owner) explained everything.
When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and led through the dim waiting room and hall to a lounge with sofas, soft jazz and some snacks (I didn’t take a close look, but it looked like crackers, two spreads and wine were on the table). Karen introduced herself as my specialist and gave me water as I completed my intake form.
In my massage room, Karen went over the procedure:
* Nude except for panties (Towels are provided for more modesty)
* Legs, arms, shoulders, neck and back are brushed with rich oil (Flip over from your front to your back)
* Scented herbs are sprinkled onto the oil
* Herbs are gently and then deeply massaged into the skin limb by limb
* Get wrapped in a heat-​holding blanket-​type thing
* Enjoy a neck and scalp massage while the heat does its thing to your body
* Get unwrapped
* Hot towels are draped over your herbed areas and then are used to clean you off
* Body is coated with a light finishing oil
Karen was great about explaining everything and was sensitive that some people may be more modest than others. I also had requested that we blow out the candle and minimize other scents — it wasn’t overwhelming yet, but my super-​sensitive nose might have taken too much in later (I think it would be fine for those of you with normal noses). She was perfectly fine with this.
I began facedown on the table, where I was on a sheet plus a towel under my head and under my breasts. Another towel was placed over my bottom, so even though I was not really wearing anything, I never felt exposed. Karen began brushing my legs and feet with oil and astutely realized that I’m extremely ticklish in certain spots, so we chuckled over that and she later avoided those spots. She continued to the other leg, to individual arms and to my back. I felt like a Thanksgiving turkey getting basted, but it was wonderful.
She sprinkled the herbs onto my body and slowly massaged them into my skin, gently at first and deeper later. This was really warm and felt fabulous, like lightly scented sand. She slowly worked her way around my body, back and front, digging nicely into my back, neck and shoulders (I had put on my intake form that I like deep massages) before wrapping me up in the heat cocoon.
I lost track of time with my eyes closed, so I have no idea how long I was cocooned; it was a decent amount of time. Karen massaged my scalp, temples and neck with some light oil as the heat took hold. She then unwrapped me and began the hot towel treatment. This was the best part, and I now want to permanently live in a pile of hot towels. Karen let the towels heat up my limbs first before gently massaging me through them and then using them to wipe off the oil/​herb mixture. After a spritz with what I assume was water, she patted me down again and then rubbed me with a very light oil. Afterwards, she left me to dress and I exited into the dim hallway with soft jazz again. The entire thing lasted for about an hour.
I absolutely loved this experience. The spa has plenty of other typcal services — hair removal, facials, make-​up application — and apparently specializes in eyelash extensions and care. I’ll return for another wrap and probably a massage, though. I felt completely relaxed and so very welcomed. There was no hint of being considered a lesser customer because of my Groupon use, either. So despite the regular price of the herbal body retexturizer ($ 100), I’ll return for periodic pampering even without a discount.
*** Note of clarification: If you get the herbology texturizer, be aware that you’re paying for the herb cocoon thing and NOT a massage. Massage is part of the experience incidentally, since your technician has to rub all that stuff onto your body (and it feels GOOD), but when you book your appointment for this, don’t expect a 60-​minute Swedish massage out of it or anything.
