History

Established in 1845.

While historians are not certain about some details, there is no doubt that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was established in St. Louis, Missouri at the Basilica of St. Louis, King of France, popularly called «The Old Cathedral,» in 1845.

The revenue from our five thrift stores is a major part of the funding for the good works performed by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

We sell over 1,000,000 units of value priced merchandise to our customers each year!

In partnership with our parish SVDP conferences we gave away over $ 160,000 worth of free merchandise to those in need.

We initiated a recycling program to add to our revenue and be more responsible with all of our donated products. We recycled more than 350,000 pounds of unsalable goods in 2011, and the numbers have been increasing ever since!
