Sole Survivor is an American leather goods company that designs and makes its own product. Steve Rye, owner and lead designer, works with a team of dedicated craftspeople creating one of a kind belts, bags, wallets, sandals and more.

Besides Steve’s handmade goods, you will find pewter Celtic Jewelry and belt buckles from Cornwall England, UK.

Sole Survivor is also an authorized Birkenstock dealer.

History

Established in 1985.

Sole Survivor began in 1985 in St. Louis’s Central West End. From there the business moved to the Delmar Loop next to the Pageant. In the year 2004, another move brought the shop to Belleville, IL. In March of 2015, the shop relocated to it’s current location in Maplewood

Steve R.

Business Owner

Steve is a Maplewood resident who owns and operates Sole Survivor Leather in Downtown Maplewood. Steve started making leather in the ’60’s and has been making and selling Leather goods in the St. Louis area ever since.

Steve’s particular skills in leatherwork include the design and making of mocassins, sandals, leather bags for both men and women and much more.

He is currently developing a selection of HANDSEWN Leather Gloves. These gloves will begin to be introduced for the 2015 – 16 Fall/​Winter season.
