Delicious food, very friendly service, nice design. I will definitely go back there again.

Really good food and atmosphere. Only reason they didn’t get the 5 stars was because the table we were sitting at was right in front of the door and it was the middle of winter. Froze everytime someone walked in.

The atmosphere at Sheesh is really special. The tables and tableware are all copper plated and engraved, the seats are apholstered in colorful fabric and the waiters wear colorful vests and were very attentive. The one drawback was the cold draft that came in every time someone came in the door. Here’s Trevis’ evaluation of the food. We had the Turkish Kibeh and humus as an appetizers and the lamb biryani as a main course. I didn’t love the humus, but the Kibeh was great(a fried dough, like a samosa, stuffed with beef and walnuts.) and the lamb biryani was about the best I’ve ever had. We had something for desert that I’d never tried before called Knafeh. It was a fried shredded cheese soaked in honey with pistachios. That was pretty tasty. We do now have to go back to try their baklava.

I have been here twice, and both were excellent. I do find the prices to be a bit high. I really enjoy the décor and copper tables/utensils, as this adds a wonderful authentic ambiance. I was expecting Turkish tea when I ordered it, but it was just Lipton. I did enjoy the sugar cubes and beautiful tea set upon its arrival, though. Sheesh is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and we are happy to have them! I will certainly come back again.

Ambiance is wonderful! Brass all over, unique seats and(I think) traditionally dressed staff. Food is about average, though. Went for dinner and got a good assortment of food. Each dish was a bit lacking in flavor profiles. I had the lamb iskender and it was more gyro meat that just didn’t wow me. Portions were nicely sized, though a lot of «filler» items were on the plates — fries, fried breads on the meat dishes — that made me think twice about the price to quantity. Overall, I may go back after a couple more months in operation. They are a new place, so perhaps they will grow to be better. I have another Turkish place in St. Louis that still has my heart… plus it’s right across the street from a great frozen custard place…

We went last night and had a lovely dinner. The felafel sandwich was very good. The felafel was crispy and delicious. We also had the humus and the babaganous. Both were very good. The biryani rice with lamb or chicken was also fine. The décor is amazing and the owner is very nice and accommodating.

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Good food. The pricing is a bit high, and I don’t know if it’s sustainable. Ate here for lunch, and although the website at the time had a lunch menu, the server told us «we stopped the lunch menu, sorry.» He told the table next to us that«we’re working on a lunch menu, perhaps it will be unveiled soon.» What’s the real answer there? Tried the: hummus– served with warm flatbread, good for sharing Chicken and Beef doner– chicken was definitely more flavorful than the beef Baklava– delicious, but who doesn’t love baklava? Would return if they adjust the pricing.

We stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening. When we stepped in I really enjoyed the décor. The service was warm and friendly, the food was very good and dessert was heavenly. The owner(I am assuming he was) seemed to be genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our evening.

Interior is nice. Well decorated. Most of the items taste good. Waiters definitely need serious training. I got my check with my Entrée for dinner. Are you kidding me? I had to tell the waiter I’m not ready to pay yet. I want coffee and dessert. Lastly. The menu is way overpriced. Entrees start at $ 20. Even for lunch. That’s ridiculous. I can order a highly quality meal at an Italian restaurant for that price. Your restaurant is nice but including appetizers and dessert definitely not worth almost $ 40 per person. There are other options in the city for middle eastern food that are way better.

Let me preface this review by saying that while I enjoyed sheesh, the evening was ruined by the man seated at the table next to me who clearly hadn’t showered this year(it’s Jan 8th people!) & thus ruined what could’ve been a delightful evening. The ambience of sheesh is gorgeous middle eastern, copper everywhere, large single comfy lounge seating, did I mention copper including the salt & pepper shakers? Started the meal off w/pita & hummus & order of kebih. The hummus was VERY bland along w/the pita bread. They needed to kick the spice/herb level from a 0 to 8! The kebih on the other hand was delicious & served w/some equally yummy green chutney. It’s like a meat+grain concoction rolled up in some batter & fried. We added some of the chutney into the hummus to taste more tolerable. Also split an order of iskender kabab, their specialty lamb & tomato type stew served over a bed of chopped pita. The pita soaked in the stew nicely almost like your eating dumplings although the lamb was a little tough to chew. No alcohol served in this establishment so save your after dinner cocktails for another spot on grand. Unfortunately I spent most of my time covering my nose w/my scarf to ward off b.o. man sitting next to me(not scared to request another table, but the place was already filling up & no other two tops available) and quickly trying to down my meal to get away from said b.o. man. Cmon peeps, shower before you go anywhere in public! It’s the most humane thing you can do!

Good Turkish food with a middle eastern touch. There was some spices which we’re not used to, however it’s quite acceptable 10000 kilometers away from Turkey. Tables and seats are creative. Great experience. Friendly staff and warm, family friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

THISISTHEBESTTURKISHRESTAURANTINST. Louis. We had the chi kefte, tabouli, eggplant salad, falafel and mixed grill. The owners have us free dessert when they found out we were Turkish. The dessert was amazing!!!

We stopped in for lunch and ordered quite a variety of the dishes offered. We enjoyed every single one though the lamb dish was a personal favorite. I enjoyed the copper dinnerware as well as the copper tables. The soup was particularly good as well. We struggled to save room for dessert and the three of us were successful. This is definitely a restaurant worth frequenting.

Had dinner here tonight. The food was excellent. The wait staff was great. Had hummus and falafel as apps. Both were amazing. I had the chicken biryani and so amazing. The rice was to die for. It is definitely pricer than what Grand is used too. But well worth it. There was a good stream of customers and I could hear everyone talking about how good it was.

Overall great experience and traditional atmosphere. The food was good as was the bread! It’s a bit odd that they didn’t have Turkish tea. we asked for hot tea and were offered Lipton. Would be great if this was added to the menu! The service was somewhat lack lustre… the waiter just didn’t seem as attentive as you’d expect. I would give them another chance.

Hearing the reviews, I was excited to try it out a new restaurant and some new dishes. The prices on the online menu were reasonable; however, when I should up, the in-person menu was nearly double on some of the dishes. I brought this up to the staff and noticed they since took down the prices from their website. The food was good(not great) and the restaurant itself was physically cold and smelt slightly like a basement(the wait staff walked around spraying air fresheners when we first walked it). I’ll probably be back, but had high expectations based on other reviews.

We visited twice this week — once for lunch and once for dinner — and I think we sampled most of the menu and enjoyed it all. Bottom line: if you like The Vine and you like copper, you’ll love Sheesh. Highlights: Iskender kabob(top pick for entrees), falafel(best I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten my share of falafel), chicken doner. Service was excellent, the space is beautifully decorated and the chairs are comfy.

We called in a take out order tonight. The food was very good, but the price of the dishes was much higher than listed on the website menu. Until they update the site, expect at least $ 5 more per entrée compared to the online prices.
