Salon St. Louis

I like feeling special when I get my hair done, and Salon St Louis does that for me. I also have never had a bad haircut from their stylists. I most recently came in after a disaster. I had tried to save money by going to get my hair cut at one of the discount places; it was a gamble, and I lost. Luckily for me, the stylist at Salon STL was able to fix it for me. I was honestly scared that I would never have normal hair again, and the lovely stylist FIXED IT!!! Huge sigh of relief. I have never had my hair colored there, so I cannot attest to the quality of those services, but I would highly recommend their hair cuts at all stylist levels. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars is because it’s often hard for me to get an appointment quickly.
Stuff you should know:
— As long as you have an appointment scheduled for the future, you can come in for a complimentary «crisping» between visits. «Crisping» is basically a touch up for your haircut, a very good idea if you’re trying to grow out your hair and want to avoid split ends.
— A paraffin wax hand treatment is complimentary during your haircut
— Salon STL is closed on Sundays
One last note:
As in all service-​related industries, the attitude of the customer is important. I think that if you are gracious and thankful, and defer to the knowledge of the stylist, you will end up with a good experience every time. Remember, just because you are paying for a service doesn’t mean you shouldn’t say thank you.

Worst haircut i’ve ever gotten and i’m not very picky. Usually end up with OK or great haircuts wherever I go. Didn’t even finish blow-​drying my hair. Supposed to have layers but the back fans out in one thick layer thats so thick it sits 2 inches off my neck. I wish i’d realized just how bad it was before i left. Cory did my hair. The salon looks very nice online but it was very sloppily thrown together and crowded. They only had old coffee or lipton tea and water in plastic cups for when you waited. Not like Aveda salons i’ve been too. Never again.

I was very happy with my experience here. Matthew did a great job! I would go as far as to say it’s probably my favorite hair cut I’ve ever gotten. It took me a minute to get used to it because I cut a lot off and I usually like to restyle my own hair, but I love the cut!
They give you a scalp massage before washing your hair and it’s amazing and also have a complementary paraffin dip for your hands. I’m a student and was given a student discount as well. Needless to say, I was very happy, will definitely go back, and will be sure to request Matthew in the future!

I had a great experience getting my hair cut at this salon. The environment was fun and cool. They offered me a beverage while I waited which was nice. I loved my hair stylist Lyndy who I felt was very real and professional with me. She understood what I wanted and gave me a great haircut. The only disappointment of the experience was that they ran out of the wax for the complimentary hand treatment so I was not able to take advantage of it. I will be returning soon though!

I am one, like many others on here, that has had a hard time finding a long term stylist/​salon. Either the prices were crazy high, I was underwhelmed with the stylist or the salon itself was sub par. At Salon St. Louis, however, all three of these things impressed me immediately. The salon itself is warm and welcoming, the prices are extremely reasonable and my stylist (Lyndy) was wonderful. I was only getting a hair cut, but I received a scalp massage, hair wash and conditioning (while this was setting she put a warm towel under my neck), as well as a paraffin wax while my hair was being cut. Lyndy took over an hour to make sure that my hair was perfect (including an awesome styling) and gave me exactly what I was asking for. She was warm, friendly and patient. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will most certainly going back for all of my salon needs.

I had been bouncing from stylist to stylist, afraid of getting a haircut after a series of not-​great experiences, but I found a home with Matthew at Salon St. Louis.

If you are looking for a local neighborhood salon for haircuts and brows in the south city /​tower grove area this is your place!
Meredith cut my hair and was amazing; while this was probably the longest (time wise) haircut I’ve ever had, it was because of the attention to detail that was conducted to ensure my hair was cut to perfection!
I have already recommended this place and Meredith to everyone that has complimented my new bangs!

I’ve been going Salon St. Louis for over 5 years and I am satisfied with their service every visit. Friendly, professional, courteous… My stylist, Jo, always takes time to make it perfect. She does such a great job that my hair looks good even after 6 weeks later!

I have finally found my forever salon. I go to jessica for hair and love her. She is easy to talk to and knows what she is doing. It is also easy to get an appointment within a few days of calling and I make appointments last minute for everything.

I give it a meh.
The place is cool. Lots of hipsters and tattoos, hard wood floors, and close to just about everything.
I had my hair cut there a number of times, and it was just ok. They don’t really style your hair, so I usually ended up walking out of there with a frizzy mess. That being said, they do cut your hair pretty well, and I LOVE the paraffin wax you get on your hands while getting your hair cut (just make sure your nose doesn’t itch because you won’t be able to scratch it once the wax is on your hands).
Overall, good vibes, ok haircuts.

I love this place. I started going when I had a Groupon for a cut and some fancy vanilla bean shampoo treatment. I have been going back regularly. I’m now going back every couple of months for a haircut, and getting my free crisping in between, which keeps my hair looking good pretty much always. Cory always cuts my hair how I want it, even when I’m not sure quite what I want. She asks questions and makes helpful suggestions. I’m very pleased, and will keep going back even though I moved to a spot with a couple of salons within walking distance. The 20 minute drive is worth it to know I’m guaranteed a good haircut in a relaxed atmosphere. (Also, the paraffin hand treatment is a nice bonus.)

Love this place. Called last week and they were able to get me in within a few days.
Reception was polite and efficient. My stylist was Jessica and she has a warm personality and listened to my needs. She made suggestions and was excited to get to work.
Jessica did a great job! My color looks amazing and the cut is darling! I’ve been transitioning to my «natural» color… see gray… and she gave me beautiful highlights and low-​lights to give it dimension and character.
Simple, easy décor. Great location on Grand with ample parking behind the building.

I called on a whim after a really stressful week, and they were able to get me in with Jessica that evening for a 60 min facial and lash tint, in the new aesthetics room. Jessica was just delightful. She has a nice light touch, calming demeanor, listened to my needs and explained what she was doing. Her transitions were smooth and the whole treatment was soothing and relaxing. Instead of the typical spa music, classical piano was played, which was a nice change of pace and better suited to the older building’s character. The products, all Dermatologica, smelled fantastic and left my skin looking and feeling great. Definitely the best facial I’ve had, and even better since it was close to home and not as intimidating as some of the more high-​end salons. I can’t wait to go back.

I’ve been here to get my hair cut several times, mostly due to it’s close proximity to my house. Their prices, at least for cuts/​trims, seem reasonable (I pay $ 36 but it depends on the stylist and their level apparently). Not sure what pricing is like for color or other services.
I don’t know if I just don’t have the proper vocabulary or what, but I can never seem to get across what it is that I’m looking for to a stylist. I try to go in with a pretty clear idea of what I want, and a picture if possible, but I always get flustered and feel like an idiot. I’ve never had a bad cut here, but at the same time I feel like she holds back for fear of doing something I’m not going to like. That being said, after my last visit and a very «meh» cut, I decided I wouldn’t be back. Maybe I should have just tried a different stylist, but I always kind of feel weird about switching within the same salon and find it easier to just move on.

I’ve been going to salon St. Louis now for over a year for all my waxing, hair care, and facial needs and I can honestly say I would never go anywhere else. The stylists are professional but fun and easy to talk to and do the best work I’ve had seen on my hair and face.
I get monthly facials and waxing from Dana. As someone who has struggled with acne (I’ve gone on accutane and tried hundred of products) my entire life, I was hesitant to spend money on facials I didn’t know would work. I’m so glad I was convinced to get the facial treatments. My skin is in the best condition of my life and Dana recommended some amazing products to help keep it that way. It’s expensive but much cheaper than a trip to the dermatologist and pharmacy and I have much better results. I also get waxing done from Dana and my eyebrows and facial hair have been kept at bay and look perfect for a month. I’m always happy with the amount of hair she takes off and I always look clean but natural.
I get my hair done by Shauna and she always does a spectacular job. She’s one of those hair stylists that truly wants you to be happy with your results when you leave. I have very thick, color treated, damaged hair. I’m trying to grow my hair out so when I first went to shauna she asked me about how I wanted my hair to look and she’s worked towards that every time. I most recently got my hair ombred with incredible results. She dyed the bottom of my hair blonde with this innovative technique and I’m so happy with the results. I get complimented almost every day on my hair and it’s all thanks to shauna. She recommended an awesome average product for my hair that lasts forever and keeps my formerly damaged hair looking strong and healthy.

Not being from St. Louis, It was hard to find a place to trust with my hair. I am a guy and bad haircuts go away after a few weeks, but with a slew of important events I needed someone I could trust.
Salon STL is that place.
I’ve seen two stylists and both have gone a fantastic job. The experience starts with a shampoo head massage and condition.
You can either specify what you want to be as vague as what you think you like. Your stylist will figure it out. No sheers just scissors. Ends with a straight razor neck shave and a great hair cut.
I have been going I Cory. She is awesome and if you have a chance I highly recommend. She is very attentive and will
Chat if you want or just cut hair. For ladies she also does pedicures and makeup.
The place is a bit more that super cuts and $ 3 more than my place in Chicago, but well worth the price!

I went with my fella to another salon (which will remain unnamed) to get his long, wild hair cut. They made him look like a cross between Justin Bieber and Dimitri Martin and it took two hours. I actually laughed when he came out. On the way to dinner, he put on a hat and I called Salon St. Louis. They fit us in that night and Shanna fixed him up in no time. He looks great! I had to upgrade to four stars for the excellent save.

Upon first moving to St. Louis six months ago, I had a horrifying experience where a girl who referred to her own hair cut as «the beibs» chopped four inches off of my hair when I only asked to have a trim, and cut noticable chunks out. Since that trauma, I have been hesitant to even get my hair cut in this city. I finally broke down and went to get my bangs trimmed at Salon St. Louis.
When I arrived at Salon St. Louis, I had to stand in the doorway because three children and their mother were taking up the only seats in the tiny waiting room. The one girl who checked me in for my appointment was not friendly, and extremely unorganized. After waiting for 25 minutes, the hairdresser, named Suzi said she was ready for me.
Having never been to her before, I assumed she would be warm and friendly, however I was mistaken. I think she was hungover… She was rude, she did not listen, and she looked like a wreck. After repeatedly explaining that I simply wanted my bangs trimmed and even after telling her about my horrific experience getting my hair cut a few months ago, she chopped them off. I mean, she completely cut all of my bangs off. They are noticeably uneven. I asked for swooping bangs, and she cut them straight across. They are so short, they stick up. Do you know how embarrassing it is to go into work looking this ridiculous?
I would not recommend this place. Do not go here.

I love this place! The neighborhood salon with the perfect prices and conveniently located to me. Prices are from $ 26 — $ 42 dollars for a cut, shampoo, and style. It depends on who you get to do it hence why the pricing is not the same. They honestly are very nice people with a great skill that they put to use. All of them are very knowledgeable on how to cut hair and very proficient in it.
I like the hand wax that they do to your hands to make them soft after you get your hair washed, it is like an added spa treatment you don’t have to pay for. Plus they give you a coffee, tea, or bottled water as complimentary with the visit.
I hope to try out their facials and stuff sometime soon, but right now — when I get my hair cut, styled for a formal event, and eye brows done — I refuse to go anywhere else.

It is extremely difficult to find someone who can cut curly hair well, but they do an awesome job here. I have been going to Jessica for a couple years now and she is great! The first time I went in she said she ‘gets’ curly hair and she was right. I have been overly pleased with every haircut I get here and you get free trims in between cuts. I always recommend Jessica to my friends when they’re looking for a new hairstylist.
I also started going to Salon StL for waxing and have nothing but good things to say about that service too. Dana is super fast, getting a somewhat painful experience over as soon as possible and the results are always great. I’ve been really happy with all the services they offer here. Highly recommend this place!
