I had breakfast here with my husband, our 4 year old and 6 month old. Plenty of vegetarian options. I subbed vegan sausage in a mo crêpe with spiced apples, husband had a veggie scramble, one kiddo made his own pancake and devoured it other kiddo had some banana slices to play with and taste, everyone was happy. I love the rooster paintings on the walls too! Super yummy, great ingredients!

DEFINITELY A MUSTTRY! I’m a vegetarian and don’t get to order Biscuits & Gravy very often but they offer mushroom gravy at Rooster so that’s what I get every single time because it is amazing. Their casual atmosphere, great crepes and great bloody marys make this the ultimate brunch restaurant to try!

In St. Louis for the weekend and was intrigued by Rooster’s menu and location downtown. The food — great! I would up my review a star or two based on the food alone, but the hostess’ service left us wanting. There was a 15 – 20 min wait but the hosts got our phone number wrong so we were never notified our table was ready. A mumbled ‘sorry’ and we were quickly seated. Food: I got the German Sausage savory crêpe with spiced apples and loved it. Mix it with the sauce that comes on the side and it’s a perfect balance of flavors! My friend got the Farmer’s Platter and was stuffed. I tried little bits of his plate and enjoyed the comfort food. Overall, good place. I’d give the Rooster a try and just be aware that service can be hit or miss.

Awesome place for brunch. Our server was really friendly and prompt. I had the ham and jam biscuit and it was delicious. The coffee is great as well. The wait was only 15 minutes on a Saturday morning and definitely worth the time.

A cool café/restaurant. They have a solid range of beers, with a focus on local STL breweries. Fair prices. Friendly service. Great coffee. The food menu looked good but we didn’t eat on our visit.

Yesterday I brought my family to Rooster. I’ve been on many occasions for breakfast and it was always a pleasant experience and the food was good. I have never been to Rooster for dinner and I will never go again. I won’t even talk about what my family had, I’ll just focus on my experience and dinner. However there’s was equally disappointing, so it’s not just me. So the manager can ascertain who our server was, I’ll say her first name started with a R and ended in a E. We were there on 5⁄29 at around 5:30pm. She wasn’t very attentive let alone friendly. Granted, I understand that weed effects everyone different. Yes, I am stating she wasn’t right… seemed high. Then the woman that was cleaning up, I’m not sure if she was trying to be «thug» or what, but her pants were down by her ass crack. Really? In a restaurant? ‘cmon, where is the management that is preventing this from occurring? I probably also need to state the place was dead. From my experience as a customer and a short stint in the industry, I know when a restaurant is dead is usually when the food and service sucks. It’s just how it is. And this experience proved my point. Did you know that Rooster does not have onion? They apparently do not have jalapenos or raw onion. Management: is this true? Or is it because it was 5:30 on a Sunday and the kitchen staff was too lazy to actually prep or cut an onion for a burger? My guess is you have onion and the staff refused to serve it. If you don’t have raw onion, then shame on you. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Rooster burger. Both sucked beyond belief. However the fries were mediocre so that was a positive. The Onion Soup was literally all croutons and cheese with maybe a half inch of liquid. WTF? I’ve had Onion Soup all over the world, and this was by far the worse I have ever tried. I hope this was a one off and not the way you usually serve it. The burger? Horrible. The meat was not good and they served it with hot lettuce and a hot tomato that fell apart when I tried to pick it up. When I asked«R_e» for jalapenos, lettuce, onion, and tomato that wasn’t piping hot, she seemed annoyed and came back with basically the same shitty lettuce and tomato that I just had, except it wasn’t piping hot, but it wasn’t crisp and cold either as it should be. I spent $ 55.34 and gave you $ 60. I wasn’t even going to give a tip, because I don’t believe a tip is guaranteed. But I wasn’t going to wait around for change. So that is why you got a below 10% tip. You’re lucky that you even got that. I just didn’t want to sit there another second. Oh and it is clear this restaurant does things half ass and pays little attention to detail. During the whole Ferguson debacle(ya know the problem that never was), their windows got knocked out and had to be boarded up. Well apparently when they were«fixed» the previous window wasn’t fully removed. They laid new window on top of it. It looks totally janky and ridiculous. Have some damn pride in your restaurant and its appearance.

All I can say is OMG. I won’t rest until I try the whole menu. I had the #3 bacon crêpe. My son had chocolate chip pancakes. You can tell that everything is as fresh as they advertise. We were fortunate that we didn’t have to wait long. If you are a larger party, I suggest calling ahead or being prepared to wait

Hipster friendly! Miniature mason jars for water, gluten free vegan crepes(what??), chalkboard menus. Just bring your typewriter and handlebar mustache! :) We stopped in for a late weekday breakfast and sampled quite a bit of the menu but just weren’t blown away. The eggs were tasteless for being from a local farm, the bacon underdone while the sausage was super dry and crumbly(maybe we accidentally got the vegan sausage??), the traditional Bloody Mary without a hint of spice — thank goodness for the Sriracha on the table! I was excited to try the tomato jam but it was literally like jam– incredibly sweet and cloying. The OJ was delicious– tasted fresh squeezed with the perfect amount of sweetness. Also, our server was great– really friendly and chatty, quick to check on us and bring extra items. Maybe we got the third tier chef that day as the reviews were really promising.

We got here at about 11 which is prime brunch time. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait and that they would text our phone when our table was ready. We walked around downtown and got a text that the table was ready in ~25 minutes and gave us 5 minutes to claim our table. Don’t go too far if you are waiting in line. Our server was very helpful and gave us suggestions. The coffee is here is pretty good. We got the sirloin crêpe #3 and a fried egg sandwich with guacamole. This came with a delicious side of homemade breakfast potatoes. The server kept the coffee flowing and kept us hydrated as well. I am coming back to try other things on their menu.

I’ve never had a wrap inside a crêpe before and I have to say it was pretty dang good. I walked in around 2pm and was the only diner. The service was super warm and attentive + prices were very reasonable. I was happy to see that they source from local farms. The simple dressed green salad that came with my wrap was crisp and delicious. If it wasn’t early afternoon I would have enjoyed one of their yummy looking cocktail offerings. They have several sister restaurants in the area that will be on my list to try the next time I am in town.

Stopped in here on the way out of St. Louis for breakfast after reading many glowing Unilocal reviews. They were spot on. This is a really nice breakfast/brunch spot downtown, run by the same people who own Bailey’s Chocolate Bar and Bridge, so you know it’s going to be high quality. I got the breakfast scramble with ham and mushroom. While it could have used a touch more flavor, it was still quite good and well priced. Rooster is known for its crepes, which I will have to have next time. They say they use all locally sourced meats and vegetables from area farms, which is great. Service was prompt and friendly, and the wifi worked well, which is always huge for me since I usually work through breakfast. Very good experience overall.

This was a wonderful exoerience!!! I met a girlfriend there to eat brunch. I ordered the g.l.b.t crêpe. I have a gluten sensitivity so I requested the gluten free crêpe. So completely satisfied. Presentation was beautiful!(See the photo.) The waiter was quite attentive with filling our mugs with liquid coffee gold. The layer of goat cheese was just enough to add flavor but not over shadow the bacon and tomato. Romaine lettuce atop the crêpe rather than inside. Perfection!!! I can’t wait to try something else there. The place was super busy but everything was neat as a pin. Congratulations management and staff! You’ve done well.

Went around 9:30 on a Sunday and my dad and I got seated right away. The hostess was friendly and our server was nice. Could have been slightly more attentive to our table throughout our meal but it was a Sunday morning and she had more than her fair share of tables to work. The food was excellent. I’ve never eaten crepes before, with the exception of trying to make some in FACS class in high school which doesn’t count, but mine was delicious. I got the mo. made German sausage #2 with apples. It was delicious. A nice savory flavor. My dad got the #5 bacon scrambler and said it was perfectly cooked with thick slices of bacon and tender potatoes. I would definitely go back again.

Saw many positive reviews from Unilocal that I wanted to check this place out. This place gets packed on the weekends and we waited 1hr 30 mins to be seated. If you plan on going here, download the NoWait app. They use the app and you can be put in line before even getting there. I wish I knew about that before. The place is fairly big and right when you come in, there’s a bar to order food/drinks. Then there’s multiple seatings to the left and right of the place. Our server was very nice, but we knew that she was feeling overwhelmed with all the tables. We had enough time to wait to be seated that we knew what we wanted to order. I ordered the Rooster Slinger over a biscuit and a bloody mary. The bloody mary was very tasty($ 7). I would love to come back to try their michelada though. The Rooster Slinger was delicious. One of the best meals on my St. Louis trip. It was sausage smothered with white gracy over a biscuit. Also over easy eggs on top. I finished the whole thing and I’m so happy I made this order.

Roosters(Breakfast) provides many crêpe options and a few non crêpe items along with coffee, tea, soda, beers, and mixed drinks. Service at the Grand location is much better than the downtown restaurant but weekends can be backed up for 30 — 60 minutes… be prepared. The 3-stars is because of inconsistency. I typically get the same thing these days but from visit to visit you never know what to expect. One visit will find my crêpe stuffed with whatever I ordered and the next time it will be as flat as a pancake with a few morsels of food thrown in. This is the norm, not the exception, so it’s hard to say during your visit if you’re going to have a great breakfast or a below average experience. Also, 3-slices of bacon is $ 3.50 and I wish I had kept the picture of my order on Sunday, they were the saddest and tiniest pieces of bacon imaginable. I wasn’t offended because we were both laughing when they brought it out thinking it was a prank or that they had taken one piece and broken it into 3. Unfortunately it wasn’t and I didn’t say anything as surely the server had to know when the put the plate on my table. I suggest trying Roosters but don’t expect to be wow’ed. Some of my experiences have been good and certainly the staff, while overwhelmed, put on a friendly face and provide quick service.

Agreed with another reviewer that this place is overrated. I appreciate the effort to display local products, but execution didn’t stand up. First, the pros: –Lattes are good –Bacon is tasty and crispy Cons: –Unhygienic– I saw servers drinking out of the water jugs they put at each table, eating, and picking their ears and not washing their hands before interacting with food again. They like to bring all the plates out at once, which is normally fine, but I saw a server’s thumb in someone’s bacon. Gross! I also didn’t see an «employees must wash hands» in the bathroom I went to – I thought that was federally mandated? –Took us most of our meal to get a bottle of ketchup, and turns out it’s homemade. Except it wasn’t ketchup, just sweetened, chunky, puréed tomatoes that were pretty much inedible. Trust me, I know it’s not going to taste like Heinz, but I have had delicious homemade ketchup before! –Crepes appear to be heated up with each order instead of made fresh: ours was very soft and spongey with no flavor to it. Crêpe was also under filled(very little egg and cheese), leaving a lot of bites without any filling at all. –I had the Finnish pancake and there was a flavor of anise in both the pancake and jam that was overpowering. With a flavor like anise in your food that some people love and others hate, I think Rooster should label that in the menu so others aren’t surprised like I was.

I’ve been to Rooster a few times, and I’ve never been blown away by the food. I’m a big fan of the Bailey’s restaurants in general though– Bridge, Small Batch, and Bailey’s Range are my preferred ones of the group. They have the ambiance and numerous successful dishes. The South Grand location is adorable and has ample parking. The downtown location feels like it could use some revamping of the interior. The portions are generous, but the food is average. I’m sure you can’t go wrong if you just pick ingredients that make you happy in your respective scramble or crêpe. I’d probably opt for Russell’s or Pastaria for brunch otherwise.

Overrated hipster joint. The runny egg B.E.L.T. is a gross mess that doesn’t hold together. Don’t get it. House Potatoes are meh. Coffee is decent. Don’t walk to/from here — it is an unsafe area(downtown STL) and you will be crisscrossing to avoid confrontation with sketchy folks trying to involve you in their situations.

First time here and it was excellent! Judah was our server and he was very friendly, gave awesome menu suggestions, refilled drinks quickly and checked up on us just enough! I had the B.E.L.T. which was so good – on wheat bread with an over medium egg! Gotta have some yolk! The BF had one of the scrambles with black beans, salsa, cheese and he added sausage! Again, delicious! I am a huge biscuits and gravy fan so we ordered a half order, I wasn’t too thrilled with them. Though they were good, there was an overwhelming amount of sage, possibly and not a lot of sausage. Not my favorite, but still good! The champagne supernova cocktail is a must and I love their champagne flutes. We will definitely be back!

My friends did not approve of me having butter cake for breakfast one morning and told me to come here, «best breakfast in the city.» So clearly I couldn’t miss out. I did not think this through, and came on a Sunday… however, being by myself meant I got seated immediately. YAAAAAAS. The reason I waited till Sunday was so I could have breakfast with alcohol, a thing I cannot do at home. A French 75 and a mimosa before 11am? Yes yes yes. Both cocktails were really good, and I highly recommend the mimosa with raspberry added. As for food, I was kinda overwhelmed by the menu because everything sounds so good. My server(who I had as a bartender elsewhere on my trip, that was so funny) recommended the MO made German style sausage #2 crêpe, so that’s what I ordered, along with a side of potatoes. The crêpe was ridiculously stuffed with delicious smoked sausage, Vermont cheddar, and spiced apples to add just the right amount of sweetness. There was a mustard type sauce on the side as well as what tasted like apple juice… was not sure what to do with that. The potatoes are sliced thinly and are good enough to eat with nothing else. It was a lot of food, but every single bit of it was so good. I’m incredibly jealous that this quality of food comes at this price here. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to the city since there’s about 4 more crepes on their menu that sound amazing.

Rooster is alright, it’s not my favorite. The food isn’t comfort food by any means. It just happens to be around the same place I work. Out of the 365 days of the year, I avoid it most of those days unless starving. I’ve tried their crepes, they are alright. I’ve tried the sausage gravy, it’s gross, too much sage or something. I had the chicken sandwich one time for lunch, it was not trimmed, full of gristle and veins. Everything is WAY overpriced, like they think they are in New York or something. Probably the best thing they have is the toast, jelly and ketchup. The service, however, is fantastic, which deserves the extra star from getting just one. This place would never survive outside of downtown St Louis, which has pretty much no other options for Breakfast. Pretty much all of Dave Bailey’s places I’ve tried have been overpriced and average at best. We avoid them for the most part.

I’m absolutely Natalie Imbruglia* about this place. On the one hand: The crêpe we ordered was… well, bad. And for ostensibly being a crêpe place, this isn’t a good sign. It was dry and flavorless, and the goat cheese it was filled with was unappetizing, if not inedible. On the other hand: The Slinger is absolutely fantastic, and I understand it’s a St. Louis original. This absurd mountain of sausage gravy, andouille sausage, fried eggs and potatoes(over a biscuit, because I make excellent choices**) was easily enough food for two people to feel disgusting/happy for the rest of the day. Which was a pleasant coincidence because neither of us wanted to eat that crêpe. The Bloody Mary menu is stellar as well. I opted for the Samurai(soy, wasabi peas, etc.), and that was a decision that was good for lots of reasons, not just because drinking in the morning is always smart. So I guess what I’m saying is that you should get a Bloody and the Slinger, and you’ll be just fine. Also, I’d get here early if I were you. It filled up by 9 am on a Sunday, despite being huge. ____________ *Torn. Obviously. **When it comes to food, only.

This place is too delicious. I had the slinger and subbed out the toast for the biscuit(which you should definitely do) and let me tell you that might have been the tastiest breakfast I have ever had. Like wow. It was a huge plate so I could only get through half(I’ve never been so disappointed with myself in my life). Oh and I gotta say their service here is awesome. I had been drinking coffee throughout the meal, and at the end he offered if I wanted a fresh cup for the road! Aw yeah that’s what I’m talking about. Bottom line, if you’re looking for breakfast/brunch/delicious things just pop in here. Trust me.

Thank you Unilocal for this great brunch suggestion! I was looking for a brunch restaurant that was within walking distance from our Downtown hotel and it was about a 10 minute walk from the Hilton Downtown by the Arch. We had previously tried to go for brunch on a Sunday but we saw from a distance that the line was out the door and down the street, so we decided to go back Monday morning. I was excited to see how busy it was because that meant it had to be good! Back on Monday around 11am and we were seated immediately. We shared a community table with another couple. The atmosphere was energetic and I was so excited to see that the water glasses were mason jars… super cute! I mulled over the menu and decided to try their breakfast crepes since we don’t have too many crêpe places in Los Angeles. I ordered the mo. made german style sausage #1 which had Vermont cheddar in it(yum and it had a kick to it!) and my boyfriend ordered the fresh fruit crêpe, which was also delicious. On the side, we ordered the half biscuits and gravy and OHMYGOSH they were amazing. Half order was more than enough for the two of us with two biscuits sliced in half. The pricing was great considering this place is in the heart of Downtown St. Louis. The next time I’m back in the Midwest, I’ll make sure to be back at Rooster!

Since this was my second visit, I was confident in what I wanted to get. I went with the Farmer’s Platter because I was in the mood to be healthy(in a Paleo way). It comes with three ways(cooked nay way you like), three pieces of bacon, two patties of sausage, potatoes and toast(I passed on the toast and I was kinda bummed they didn’t offer something in it’s place…). The eggs weren’t really seasoned, but they were scrambled and fluffy and tasted delicious with the thick-cut bacon and the sausage. I’m still not much of a fan of their potatoes. They’re not bad, but they’re absolutely not what most people expect out of «breakfast potatoes». First off, they aren’t hash browns or cubes. Instead, they’re thick slices. Second, they aren’t crispy. They’re wet and oily. They’re also under-seasoned. Two of my friends ordered slingers and loved them! They had feta cheese and tomato jam(which is really quite sweet). I really wish they offered a «create your own» slinger, because each one on the menu has at least one item that I’d like to get rid of. This service was fine. Decently prompt. But just as I’ve found with all the Bailey’s restaurants, the waiter wasn’t overly friendly or interested in getting an amazing tip.

I’ve been coming to this Rooster for years, probably since it opened. Everything I’ve had has always been phenomenal My favorite has been the #3 crêpe with eggs, bacon and emmenthaler. Not many restaurants carry emmenthaler cheese and I’m telling you, it’s a must try. AHHHHHHHHHHH, great now I’m craving this! I do like the German sausage with apples and cheddar crêpe(it’s good), fried egg sandwich(on the hangover days), the B.E.L. T.(bacon, egg, romaine lettuce, and tomato: I have forever changed my BLTs), DRANKS(Yes I just pulled out that southern talk): If you follow me you know I have 3 staples: coffee, wine, and bloody marys. I like those bloody marys that you see on Pinterest and see a whole meal in a glass. Yeah I’m kinda crazy like that. I also have runners up like beer, tea, and sushi. Wow that just made me sound like a lush. Well Rooster has really awesome bloody marys. Try the Samurai if you like spice, that wasabi will give you some spicy lips. Pow! They have a bloody bull and besides the jerky I couldn’t really write home about it. The Caesar had clam juice(I believe?) and was good, but I’m a spicy type of girl. Definitely check this place out. Make sure you pay your meter or look for a parking attendant at the lot across the street. He knew me well when I worked nights as I frequented this place for dates and get togethers. Who doesn’t want brunch for a date? ;)

I’m picky… I admit it! But hey, I certainly do not mind paying for what I ask for. Besides I’m always grateful when a restaurant can oblige my strict eating demands. I saw the egg crêpe and immediately I thought to self, «self, here’s your chance to live a little; ya know, maybe deviate from your usual goat #2.» I listened to self and ordered the egg crêpe but not without adding a touch of Christy to it; had to spice it up a bit. The crepes here are always so nice and soft I just loved how my concoction arrived today. Large enough to be filling but not too much where I felt stuffed afterwards. So…back to what I was saying about the egg crêpe; it also came custom with goat cheese and arugula(winning combination by the way) and I topped it off by altering the eggs to egg whites(because who in the world eats egg yolk anymore), roasted tomatoes, and sauteed red onion. Mouth-watering delicious. This will be my new regular item at Rooster. Try it, maybe they’ll rename the egg crêpe to the Christy Crêpe.

My husband and I went here with another couple for brunch last Sunday. We came all the way down from Wildwood because we’ve heard such great things about it. This is the first of Dave Bailey’s group of his restaurants that we’ve tried, and we can’t wait to try Range, Bridge, and Bailey’s Chocolate Bar. We absolutely loved Rooster, had such a great time with our friends, had a terrific server and great food. It is definitely a leisurely spot, so if you’re in a rush I wouldn’t recommend it. The joint is so busy that you might have to wait to be seated and to get your meal. We honestly could have cared less– but we are pretty easy going. Brie crêpe is A-MA-ZING, drinks were fab, can’t wait to go back.

Awesome breakfast food! I didn’t have a breakfast crêpe, but others did and they loved them. I had the rooster slinger — it was the perfect breakfast — a pile of biscuits, polish style sausage, slightly spicy country sausage gravy and home style potatoes all piled together! I also had their standard Bloody Mary — I highly recommend it as well!
