Rock N Roll Craft Show

This was really good craft show, and I loved the concept. It was separated by departments, so there was an art section, a clothing section, FOOD and tea in one room. In the next room, jewelry, pottery, knitted items, bath and body items. I was excited to see tea from the Retrailer, they were on my to-​try list. Scarlet Garnet jewelry, which is always awesome. In the back they had a crepes food truck and
free fitz’. It was a great place and I’d never been to the glass factory, and I really loved the way everything was laid out in a department style.

This year’s Rock N Roll Craft Show was a great time, as always. Though I didn’t buy quite as much stuff as I did last year, I still walked away with some great gifts created by local artisans.
The «rock» part of the craft show was a bit louder, a bit jumpier, a bit more concert-​like than last year. That’s definitely a plus in my book! The sound from the bands and DJs completely filled that first room and drifted nicely into the second. And the lineup of musicians read like a STL music fest of awesome. I was blown away by all the great acts and had to plot my shopping times around bands. Kudos!
I was pleased to see a lot more posters and wall art this year. St. Louis artists are so creative when it comes to displaying their passions, be it font geek stuff, dinosaurs or local bands. The plastic animal heads on wooden trophy plaques? Priceless! The furry dragon-​scale wall art? Beautiful! I would have bought posters had it not been pouring rain when I went.
As always, I loved the centralized check-​out. It makes it so much easier for shoppers when you can accumulate goods from department to department and pay for them all at once. It’s SO much better than forcing the customer to have enough cash for multiple vendors. And yay for still taking credit cards!
I thought the hair accessory section — my go-​to — was much smaller this year. There were a lot of «big» hair things — giant flowers and bows on clips and headbands — but not as many «small» items, like mini-​bows. I still bought a few items.
I felt like there were fewer tchotchkes for sale this year. You know — those weirdo knick-​knacks that make great stocking stuffers and have no purpose other than to elicit a smile? I really wanted to find some tiny, silly gifts that weren’t useful coin purses or coasters.
I couldn’t find the pet section. Last year, there were a lot of pet accessories, and my cat had a field day with the catnip holders and mice that I had bought. I didn’t see any of that stuff this time.
I still had a great time at the event. It was well worth my $ 3 entry fee, and events at Third Degree always turn out so beautiful. Even though I didn’t find as much as I wouldn’t have liked, I still loved supporting my creative friends around town.
