Polished Nails & Spa

I went in for a standard manicure, and it was not a good experience. The color selection was what you’d normally expect, and the décor and vibe of the salon was great, but the manicurist was rough with nails and cuticles– I still hurt the next day. My cuticles are the worst they’ve ever looked, and there are several millimeters of unpainted nail between my cuticle and where the paint starts. It looks like they’ve been painted for a week, and I just got them done. I could have done a better job myself. I was with a group of others and we didn’t get to socialize at all due to the setup of the salon. I’ll never go back, but I’m giving them 3 stars only for cleanliness and friendliness.

Absolutely LOVE this new nail shop! I live in the central west end and have been on the hunt for a good spot for 2 years now! I have been here 3 times now and been very impressed! I went somewhere else out of town due to work travel last week and they did not hold up so polished had their work cut out for them with what I walked in with today.
I have had overlay with gel for a few months and was ready to get it taken off today. They took their time and soaked it off (did not just drill it off making my nails even thinner) they took their time.
I just got a regular gel today and look how amazing they look. Jenny honestly gave me the best gel manicure I have ever had and 5+ years.
I also had a great pedicure with Addilyn last time I was in-​amazing massage and pedicure held up great!
Let’s just I will be back and I know who I’m asking for.

Best gel manicure ever! Will be returning almost a MONTH later. I still am amazed that I have had amazing nails for 3 weeks. I have not had a gel manicure last more than 2 weeks. Kelly was great! Thanks.

Beautiful salon with the latest in equipment. very trendy modern feel. All staff were so very accommodating and friendly. Prices seem very reasonable for the area. My only suggestion might be to have some seating for those waiting for an appointment. Thanks for a great experience! Recommend!

I LOVE this place! A true pampering experience-​great for a date with yourself if you’re craving some ‘me’ time, or with a group of girls!
The interiors are impeccably clean, as it just opened a few months ago. The location is great– just a couple blocks down from the south of WashU campus, in Clayton, and parking is usually available right at the intersection.
The service is wonderful– they even serve you wine! The pedi stations all have a window view so you can really detach and have a nice view instead of staring at a blank wall and being stuck looking through magazines or your phone (but, of course, you have the option of doing that, too!)
For my first check-​in, I got a free paraffin hand wax which was oh-​so-​delightful. Smelled delicious and my cracked, winter hands were incredibly soft and deeply moisturized afterwards. The lady who did my pedicure, Be (pronounced ‘Bee’), did a great job and didn’t skimp out on anything.
OH! The prices are very reasonable as well. I got a pedicure and polish change (hands) for $ 33. Well worth it.
I just felt so utterly relaxed walking out… I will certainly be coming back again and recommend it to everyone!

Third time here. The staff is personable and I’ve not had to wait to be seen more than 5−10min. I even make appointments now to see Addilyn just to ensure I won’t need to wait.
The atmosphere is upscale and prices comparable to typical nail shops ($ 26 for a classic pedicure).

I went for a basic manicure and it was the worst manicure that I have ever had! I usually go to a nail salon in Kirkwood because I know the owner and several other friends go as well but I decided to try this salon because it was quite a bit closer to my home. Adeline was very nice but she kept messing up my nails while doing my manicure, it was awful. You could tell she knew she did an awful job and even gave me a 10% coupon on my NEXT service. I was not in the mood to be angry this day because I was already having a bad day so I did not say anything to management but I can guarantee that I will not go back to this place because they can’t even get a simple manicure right.

Addilyn is awesome. She really takes her time and does a great job. Place is clean and hygienic!

Came for the first time tonight for a gel mani. Had a great experience! Ana was really nice and friendly. The owner is a cool guy. He took time to chat with customers. The spa is very chic and modern. I will be back!

When I walked into this salon it was breath taking. Come here when you have the chance!

I am so glad we finally have a nail salon that does not feel like a nail salon here in town. I love this place!!!
The atmosphere and interior alone will make me keep coming here. It doesn’t have a standard nail salon feel with weird artwork and 10 year old magazines laying around. They have candles lit and dim lighting and plants (nice plants) and citrus infused water and tv’s on a channel that actually is worth paying attention too. The pedicure chairs face the windows so you alway have a nice view while getting a pedicure. The manicure stations are nice and organized.
Everything they use is sterile and came from a one time use pouch not from a sketchy bucket or sprayed with cleaner and then used on me
The people were very friendly and caring. Everyone was very pleasant and the wait was quick considering there were a ton of girls when I arrived. The prices are comparable to other salons which is surprising considering they could easily charge more based on what they have to offer you BUT they don’t.
All of my standards were met with this salon and was very happy with my nails. I might make this my go to from now on!

Just left here. Was trying to support a small business today. Felt completed ignored. A couple came in after me as did a woman and a little girl… they were all waited on. BEFORE me. Go figure. Maybe it’s the skin I’m in. But Whatever. My first experience was great and I thought I found a new place. Oh well… I’ll keep searching.

I finally check out Polished Nails & Spa. Nice beautiful nail salon. Has an American touch. Hooray! I enjoyed my mani/​pedi done by Anna. All the employees was very friendly and awesome team work. I’m glad that they all spoke in English. Which made me feel very comfortable. Polished Nail & Spa… ROCKS!!!

I had a great manicure with Christina! She let me bring and use my own lotion because I have allergies to some chemicals. The owner also gave me a glass of wine. Thanks and I will be back!

I really wanted to like this place. It had a cute name, and looked nice from the outside, but there is work that needs to be done:
First of all the place is really nice inside, modern décor the whole shebang. Also everyone is very, very nice and appears to be hardworking. Plus the prices are really great. Buuutttt… the skill level just isn’t there yet. My cuticles were severely over trimmed. Many of my fingers kept bleeding for days afterwards. My nails weren’t filed evenly at all. Even the polish work wasn’t very good, and began to chip the next day (does anyone else get the irony in that?). Side note on cleanliness: I saw barbicide containers everywhere but no one ever using them. Also I noticed that the implements used on me were from the autoclave but the bag was already opened (and looked like it had been reused many times), then after my manicure they were put back in the bag and put into the autoclave again. That just looked a little too suspect for me. Perhaps with a bit more training this place could be great. Unfortunately, I won’t be back to see it.

I’m not one to write a bad review but I did not have a good experience here. I do not have my own Unilocal account and I recently told someone about what happened to me there so they told me about Unilocal.I came in to give this place a try since it was close and looked nice inside. After walking in and not knowing where to go I was sat at a low table with a male nail tech. He could not get my previous gel off my nails he did everything I know is right. Soaked my nails with the cotton ball. But then he put my hands in these big white massage type gloves. I was sweating and I could tell they were drying the acetone out on the cotton ball. He still couldn’t get my gel off and physically started going at my nails with his own nails! Broke my nail and my nails looked horrible after the 30 minute process that should have took 5. Something else went wrong with my gel and he couldn’t figure it out my red polish was not staying on. I then left annoyed that I paid that. By the time I had arrived home my nails were chipping. I waited a few days went to my normal salon and they told me my nails were damaged from that mani and had to cut them all down super short. They were so long. Only gave this place 2 stars because the owner he’s an awesome guy who makes you feel welcomed. Not saying don’t try this place out I’m just saying don’t get your gel nails done by the person I did. I’ve now had problems with my nails being thin and flimsy.

I got the deluxe pedicure plus paraffin wax ($ 48), and the spa gel manicure ($ 30). So, we’re not talking about a cheap, hole-​in-​the-​wall space, but the quality of the whole experience was well worth the premium!
I think as of the date of this review, they have been open for exactly one week, so like another reviewer mentioned, they are still working on staffing the place. I hope they find more great people soon, because as word gets out about this place, they’re going to need them!
This is now my go-​to place for mani/​pedis, and look forward to returning again to be pampered!

Team Keep It Cute — get in here quick! There is real synergism between style and supreme hygiene here at Polished Nails & Spa («Polished»). This ultra modern and eco friendly space is now open and has all of the gorgeous high-​end fall colors you’ll desire, excellent customer service and to boot is health conscious. To some people, trendy colors and techniques is all they care about but cleanliness is paramount and Polished truly cares. Everything here is new and beautiful. The space has picturesque panoramic views and is filled with light beaming in; as you sit you can enjoy nature or watch a cooking show.
Unlike other places that go cheap and don’t follow states regulations by using over the counter cleaners like 409; Polished uses a heavy-​duty one-​step disinfectant that kills bacteria and viruses like: Staphylococcus, HIV-​1, Hepatitis B and C, MRSA, Influenza, E-​Coli and Salmonella. It is called «Splish Splash» and they use this stuff in hospitals — I’m down. After looking around I spotted several autoclave sterilizers. Autoclave is a powerful bacteria-​killing machine that kills bacteria, fungi, viruses, and spores unlike basic sterilizers. Another amazing feature is the salon doesn’t smell like chemicals. That is due to a multi-​layer air purifier system. These will be required at all shops in a few years but Polished has them now. Can you say ahead of the game?
Polished uses LED lights to cure gel polish. LED is much better than UV for several reasons: (1) the curing time is shorter than UV making UV virtually obsolete technology at this point; and (2) most importantly are the health benefits — UV light damages DNA and can lead cells to transform into cancer cells, such as a melanoma. Being a brown girl, my melanin helps protect me from certain levels of UV A/​B damage. Yet for everyone especially for fair or white ladies, UV protection is more important and no one wants those age and sunspots as a tell tale on their hands — those UV lights (the same used in tanning beds) will do it to you.
My only real criticism is that they don’t have normal polishes that match the gel polishes. Typically I prefer to have my toes match my nails and on one visit, I tried to match a normal polish with another brand of gel polish I’d chosen and it wasn’t close. I won’t be paying the extra for gel on my toes and unless you climb trees you don’t need gel polish on your toenails either. Polished is still ultra new and I am sure they will get that matching color issue together. They are still staffing so be mindful of that when you go.
I consider Polished a true neighborhood find but anticipate ladies across the Metro Area will making this a detestation nail location — besides no one else is doing nails right on this level. I’ve been Polished and you should too!
