Specialties

We specialize in providing the best and the coolest custom photo booths out there! We’ve got a knack for making people look good while having a great time doing so. We believe a photobooth can be more than instant gratification, with our booths you can create images you’ll cherish for years to come. We love high quality and attention to detail because we’re artists and photographers not just photo booth operators. Photomaton, born from an art show installation, blends the art and interesting portraiture. This approach yields unique and timeless photos that you will enjoy revisiting time and time again. You’re kids and grandchildren will love them too!

History

Established in 2009.

Ann was planning an art show with two friends and needed a new project to display. Having recently moved back to St. Louis from Los Angeles, she wanted to do something that spoke to both cities for the show. She decided to take pictures of her friend H. Lindsy Doe dressed as the one and only, STL born, Josephine Baker. The idea was to show «Josephine» in a «set designed» dressing room that Ann made with the St. Louis cityscape as the stage. This set was displayed next to the photos at the gallery show and it was available for people to take their own photos within. It was so much fun that it lead to the birth of Photomaton as an impeccable and fun photo booth service!

Meet the Business Owner

Ann H.

Business Owner

Ann got her start in her father’s darkroom that was in the basement of her childhood home. She took many photos for her high school yearbook and went on to study Media Communications at Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. There she was able to develop her photography and art skills even further. She fell in love with photography as a visual art form. In 2007 she moved to California to attempt a dream of hers to be a set dresser in Hollywood. While she never experienced this career there she did end up in one of the countries few remaining black and white darkrooms. Here she was exposed to some classic Hollywood images and a great Art community. In 2008 she moved back to her hometown to be closer to her family. After working in some bars and restaurants and creating art work on the side she put together a show with some friends. This show turned out to be the birth place of Photomaton and it’s been slowly building into something really beautiful.
