Norton’s Framing & Fine Art

Norton’s Framing & Fine Art has been in business for more years than I know, since sometime in the 40s after WWII ended, and is now located on Big Bend in Richmond Heights.
They have two friendly dogs named Cassie and Bella, and both are always happy to see me and desire attention and petting from me when I go there. Playing with them within reason is always fun, and I’m always as happy to see them as they are to see me.
I have been there often enough that I am on a first name basis with them. Well, technically not first name because I use my middle name and not my first name, which by the way, is not Derek; that’s my first name for all you Unilocalers who bother to read my reviews.
Norton’s is family owned and operated, and Doug, Mary and Ty are knowledgeable about framing, art restoration and conservation of different media of art. When needed, Mary will consult other professionals in the local art conservation and restoration profession, so I have consulted them and used their framing services for framing my own artwork and for reframing more than several paintings from my art collection when it’s needed. Doug is knowledgeable about local artists, past and present, and is familiar with local art history, too.
Consulting with Mary about framing is an artistic process in and of itself because she always makes suggestions and gets out several frame samples and mats of different colors for matching the pieces of art and make them look their best. You will never be rushed, made to feel like you should choose one over the other that you may not want and always considers how the piece will look in the final framing. Other framing places where I have gone are not like than. I have never been dissatisfied with any framing project or results of any of my own artwork that I have had framed or any of my collection which was reframed by them. They are professional in their work and consultations, and the results of the framing will look professional, too. After you decide on the frame and the matte for whatever the piece of art is, Mary will write up the work order and price it, and their policy is to pay about have the cost of it at the initial consultation, so brink your checkbook with you.
Every fall, around the holidays and just in time for holiday shopping, they organize an exhibit of invited artist every year. I have shown twice in those exhibits, and always have very wide variety of art and styles for people. They have a website and there is always art on display in the gallery section.
