Master Auto Repair

John the store manager and the guys at Master Auto took great care of my car and me. My car was not passing the emissions test for unknown reasons.
I would try quick fixes and then bring my car back up there to see if the scan could be done. This happened 4 – 5 times until I finally had the car running right.
They took the time to run a 5 minute scan each time for free and never tried to push any sales gimmicks on me.
Great place to have your vehicle inspected.

The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s great to find a place that I feel comfortable taking my vehicle and not worrying about whether or not I’m being treated fairly. I will definitely make them my first choice for auto repair.

I have been dealing with John the owner for over 10 years. A great guy who always puts his customers first! Master auto repair only fixes or recommends what needs done. They do not make stuff up just to try and make money. I have trusted all my vehicles to John and his staff. They also have a loaner car you can use while you vehicle is in the shop. If you want an honest shop I highly recommend Master auto repair.

A good auto mechanic shop, especially for those of us who aren’t auto-​repair savvy, is worth its weight in gold – and at least five stars on Unilocal.This little corner shop is wonderful. We gave them a try based on both proximity and recommendations, and have been consistently thrilled with the service we’ve received.
I took my husband’s vehicle in once when it was making a strange noise occasionally. Of course it didn’t make the noise once the car was in the shop, but every mechanic drove it, it was gone over from end to end, and they even had me come in and drive it with them. «We don’t want to miss something, but we don’t hear anything!» Sure enough, the sound was gone. Other shops we used to trust our cars to would’ve «fixed» something and charged us an arm and a leg anyway. Not these guys, and they’ve earned our trust.
They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. I wish they were open on weekends, but you know, they’re such a great shop I can’t even count that against them! We will be trusting our cars to Master for years to come.

They keep my ’84 Chevy in excellent condition!

It was time for the new license sticker and this year I was reactive instead of proactive. Bad me. Realizing I have waited to the end of the month, I started to panic. I did not want to be in those long lines at the license office on my days off next week, so I quickly went into action.
I live less then two blocks from FAR, and I had seen their signs advertising they do state inspections. So I hopped in my CRV and drove up the street to see if they could get me done today (Wednesday). I was greeted by very professional gentleman who assured me they could. It got even better when he looked the card sent to me by the state and all I needed was the emissions test. They could do it pronto, it would be less then 15 minuets. That was GREAT news, but then I realized I left my wallet at home. They laughed with me, at least I hope it was with me and not at me and told me to just come back later and it’d be ready.
Walked home, got the wallet and decided to have lunch with Brad before picking it up. When we arrived, sure enough it was ready to go. As another young man checked me out, he recommended Deer Creek for picking up my actual stickers instead of S. Kingshighway location. He told me they were much more efficient and quicker. He was right, watch for that review.
Great friendly, and prompt service. I am proud to have them in my neighborhood.

I went in to this shop because had just moved to the area, I needed an inspection, and I lived nearby so I knew of the place from driving by it. When I arrived in the early afternoon, they said they couldnt take me right away, but that I could make an appointment for later that day. I asked if I could leave the car and just come back when it was done, but they insisted I leave and bring the car back later. OK, weird.
When I came back, they said it would take about 40 minutes to inspect. It took over an hour. They did the emissions inspection and I dont have a problem with that. As for the safety inspection, they said the car had 3 things that needed to be fixed. One was semi legit. I noticed a problem that this could cause as I drove the car, but this had been a problem on the car for a long time, and my previous state passed it, so why not here? The other he tried to show me there was a part that was loose or something. He tried to show me by showing how when he pressed on it, it moved. Yeah. So did the entire car, so I dont believe them on that.
Of course, they offered to fix both problems for me. They wanted a little under $ 1000 to fix both. I took their estimate and never went back. They charged $ 86/​hour for labor, which seems high to me. They also scraped off my old inspection sticker from my old state (which clearly was expired) and does not apply in MO. Why? I dont have a problem with that, but in removing this sticker, they pressed another sticker firmly against the glass so that I can no longer get it out myself, and I do have a problem with that.
All in all, I think they took one look at my out of state plates and decided to try and rip me off. A week later I took the car to a shop down the street, and although they failed it for the semi-​legit problem these guys pointed out, they said that was all, and they charge ¹⁄₃ less to bring the car up to code. In addition, Fyler Auto Repair charged $ 36 for the inspection, as opposed to under $ 20 for the other place. Bottom line, I wouldnt go back here.
