Malt house is a real man’s cave. It is real and rich in history. The architecture is amazingly raw. Best basement bar I have ever found, and that includes my college days. Enough said, I’ll keep it on my top list of places to stop by when I’m free.

Descriptive phrase: basement pub event space. Our company hosted a dinner event in half of the Malt House Cellar’s basement space. It’s located below PW Pizza and Vin de Set in a neat old building. The space is classed-up now, but still has the old basement brick walls and arch-ways. A small bar was serving us wine and bottled beer all night. The space we rented had 2 beautiful pool tables, a foosball table, two dart boards, and two shuffle boards(one of which we leaning on the floor so was unusable). There were some high-top tables and a couple small booths. Appetizers were pita chips and a few different dips. The hummus was tasty. Dinner was a slider buffet. They had burgers, chicken, and veggie burgers, along with seasoned fries and pasta. I don’t know what else they offer, but this was the perfect sort of semi-formal, semi-not food our event called for. They also featured a TV with computer hookup for presentations. Overall a great event space for a younger crowd.

We attended their NYE ’13 party, and it was a fantastic time! There was definitely a ton of people there, but there was 3 levels which helped spread out the crowd. The floors seemed to be split by age. In the basement was like the college after party. It had pool tables, Foosball, darts, and shuffle board. We spent a lot of time down there, because it was a fun, but still chill atmosphere. The middle floor was a DJ who spun really good music. None of that dub-step horribleness… Finally upstairs felt like a wedding reception… It was a live band with a mostly clear dance floor(although the band was good). It had tables all around with older people sitting there just enjoying themselves. All in all it was fun, and most likely we will return next year for another great time!

We were at Malt House Cellar for a party the other night. It’s a nice, open space. I think they even provided a mic for some words from our host. Pool, fusbol, and darts provided fun ways to enjoy the evening. The bartender was great and willing to try a new concoction I ordered. The food they served was also paleo, in keeping with the eating habits of most of our party. There seemed to be a somewhat odd arrangement of renting the space for two hours. It seems like the drinks purchased would have more than covered the overhead for keeping the room open but perhaps staff costs had to be factored into that and it might not have made fiscal sense. FYI, it was a cash only bar the night we were there so best to come with cash.
