Still trying to figure out how I got suckered into possibly living at this establishment. Well, Superman couldn’t see through this building so how could I?(Lead-Paint reference; for those unaware of superman has an inability to see through lead) I pull up after a 10 hour drive from Texas to find this place has misled me in terms of looks and apartment layout. The place has not been renovated since the Truman Era. Unsafe surrounding, I don’t care if the place claims to be «gated.» Although I eventually found an apartment complex that is reasonable, I also found a lot of apartments that are stuck in the 50’s. After being in St. Louis about a week I’ve come to realize that the apartments here are all or nothing. Either you pay out the nose for luxury and stay in a good part of town or you you pay little to moderate in rent and still pay out the nose in utilities. Seriously? Gas stoves and heat? I’ve lived in several states and I have never seen so many old apartments relying on gas. Seemingly every apartment complex is being renovated.(I digress, back to Lucas Hunt.) The crack in the wall story. So I’m looking at the apartment and already know I’m not going to take it and spend money to be miserable, but still look around it to humor the landlord. I notice a long crack in the wall. Keep in mind that the landlord told me there was a walk through and everything was perfect. She looked just as surprised as I did when I told her about it. The lies keep coming. So she immediately says, «we will get that fixed today, I’ll have someone paint over it.» HUH? Paint over a crack? Fail. You’re gonna need a caulking gun or at least duct tape. At this point all bets are off and I start laughing out loud as I walk to the door to leave. Long story short(ish), I leave and go to the next place and get a call for the landlord saying there is availability on the second floor. I think to myself what will a change from the third to the second floor of the same building, made in the same year, surrounded by the same people. My review is not to demean the people that work at the building but the building itself. If you’re thinking of staying at this place to save a few bucks and you’re from out of state, think again.
