Laclede Cab

I felt not satisfied with the way you charged me. I took the cab from 777 South New Ballas to South Grand. The fare is about $ 34.40 and I asked for pay by card, but the driver didn’t let me to do it, he asked for cash, and told me it’s better. Fortunately, I had cash If I didn’t, I don’t know how to pay. Beside that, he told me the fare is $ 35 and I gave him $ 100, he just gave me $ 60 back. I know I should give him some dollars for tip but you know what, I called them to book a cab and they told me they will be with me soon but I took me an hour to wait. He gave me $ 60 back without any word. I wonder that’s is a law of your service, the driver can take a tip from customers without their permission? $ 5 not too much but it makes me feel like i was stolen, not a tip for a good service. I’ll recommend my friends don’t use your company services and the taxi with number 1995

The award for the most no-​shows goes to Laclede Cab. A repeated problem. Unbelievable.

On multiple occasions I have ordered a 6:30am cab the day before to find out that the cab isn’t assigned until after 6:30am! The whole point of ordering a cab is that it will be ready at the time I need it. That’s the whole point of ordering a cab. From now on, I’m using Über.

I called for a cab and waited over an hour and it never showed. I also called the service 2 times and no one helped. Terrible service.

I needed a ride from the Shrewsbury metrolink station to my hotel. I wasn’t able to schedule a pickup from a public place, which kinda sucked, but I didn’t have to wait long for my cab to show up after I made the call.
My driver was Michael, cab #1004. He was super friendly and his cab was clean. The fare was $ 10 cheaper than what County Cab quoted. If I’m ever in the STL area I’ll be using Michael for cab service.

True story: I’ve only taken Laclede Cab once. I scheduled an early morning pickup and they showed up late. No apologies, no accountability, of course. So, that was annoying, but not a big deal. But mostly I’m rating them one star because they recently fired a driver (also a friend of mine) for his involvement and prominence in the Black Lives Matter movement. Had nothing to do with his performance as a driver, only his political affiliations. And that’s just not okay.

The worst.
Called 24 hours in advance, needed a cab at 7pm. Cab arrived an hour and a half late.
Used the iPhone app to hail a cab from a music venue. Cab showed up, picked up someone else and left. No phone call, nothing.
If you’re going to go out and have some drinks, and are worried about drinking, just get a hotel nearby.

Only a special kind of petty and self-​centered receptionist would try to teach a customer about phone etiquette when booking a cab, when that customer asked to go to AN EMERGENCY ROOM. Congrats, Laclede Cab, on finding one of these few lowlifes and hiring her.

The Worst!
When it’s time to go out and enjoy myself, I find that it’s essential to do it the right way. In other words, if I’m going to drink a few, I don’t drive, and I really on public transit or a taxi service to get me around. One option that keeps disappointing me is Laclede Cab.
I’ve had it with their lousy service. More times than not I’m pretty frustrated with the wait and overall service. And last night might have sealed the deal with Laclede.
After a little late night snack at Eat-​Rite, I decided that it was in my best interest to take a cab home instead of walking back. I called Laclede and waited outside the diner for about twenty minutes, watching two different empty Laclede Cabs drive by while I stood alone on the corner. Ten minutes later, after I had called some friends to pick me up, my cab strolls into the parking lot and rings my cellphone. I don’t answer, since I had somebody already coming. He doesn’t even stop by the corner to ask me if I was his customer.
Laclede likes to push its taxi phone app. I’ve used it once, and things didn’t work out well. You can track your taxi, and the car assigned actually picked somebody up ten miles down the road. The app told us that we were picked up, and we had to call anyway.
If you live in the city, you’re almost better off hailing a cab or walking to an area where cabs are usually waiting, like Ballpark Village. Don’t wait on a Laclede Cab.

Ok look, yes, St. Louis is behind the times. We’re the largest market with no Über or Lyft. Just how it is. If you want to get somewhere, you’ll need a cab. Laclede is the way to go. Their app works well. The drivers are friendly, most of the time. The dispatch? Effective. Friendly? Eh. Not really. But, if you need a ride, you need a ride. Go with these guys. If you don’t, their competitor St. Louis County Cab/​Yellow Cab are what you want. St. Louis required prices be displayed on the door of a taxi. Laclede is the cheapest. Use them and smile. They’ll get you home safe just like they have for me. Harris, American and Meto are he highest priced. Good luck…

Absolutely horrible-​I wish I could give them a negative score! The dispatchers are ALWAYS incredibly rude and even hang up on you! They’re useless bc they’ll never give you even the slightest idea of when a cab can pick you up. If you ask them for a rough estimate of when you can expect a cab, they respond with a crazy attitude. Please avoid Laclede and try a company who shows some basic respect and can actually give you an idea of when they’ll pick you up.

I was in STL this week and needed a cab to the airport during rush hour. My flight was at 6pm, and I had someone from my office call them to pick me up at 4:20. At 4:15 I looked outside from the restaurant where we were in session and saw one of their cabs. I left the meeting quickly and went out in front. I am still not sure if the cab driver was looking for me, or just saw someone with a roller bag but when I told him we had called ahead he just nodded and asked what airline.
I liked the driver because he drove very well and aggressively when he needed to. I wasn’t able to check into my flight for whatever reason so was happy to get there in about 20 minutes right up to the front door.
Bottom line is I understand people criticizing cab companies. I have done so as well, but this company executed very well. We called, they answered, the cab was on time, and got me to the airport quickly. A very pleasant experience.

Literally the worst cab company I’ve ever experienced. DO NOT TAKE FOR ANY REASON. I called a cab, 20 mins later they texted me that my cab was there. We were waiting on the street corner but apparently took someone without asking there name. I called them after that and they told me I had already spoken to an operator and hung up on me

I have been stood up twice on my last two trips to the airport. Never again. Deleting their app because they are terrible. If they can’t fulfill an order, they should tell you.

Third time in two weeks I’ve booked a cab and they’ve picked up someone else. Use County/​Yellow Cab.

Important information — this is how Laclede Cab works, as explained to me by the driver: You place an order for a cab. The order goes out to drivers in the area. They individually choose whether or not to pick up you up. Laclede Cab, as a company, does NOT guarantee that someone will pick you up. Realistically, someone will *eventually*… but there is certainly no guarantee that you will be picked up at the time you requested.
It also doesn’t matter how far in advance you book. One would think that, if you book the night before, your cab would be virtually guaranteed to arrive on time — or at least within a 10 minute window… not so.
My experience:
I booked a cab for 7:30am, using the website, the night before my 8am doctor’s appointment. (The doctor’s office is only an 10 minute drive away, but it’s not very metro-​accessible and I’m a college student without a car.) I figured 7:30am was too early for 10 minutes, and that I’d regret not requesting 7:45 once I had 20 minutes to kill in the waiting room… oh, how wrong I was.
When they haven’t arrived by 7:35am, I call just to make sure that someone is on the way. The woman on the phone says that my «order hadn’t been picked up yet» and hangs up immediately after I say «okay» without clarifying what that meant. I decide to wait a little longer, but by 7:45, I’m starting to worry and call again. She says that the order still hasn’t been «picked up». At this point I call another cab company to book (they give a 10 minute estimate), then call Laclede back to cancel. They say, «are you sure, they’re almost there», and I grudgingly accept, thinking they can’t be TOO far off, and call the other cab company back to cancel that order. It’s now 7:50am.
Laclede Cab (automated message) calls me at 8am to say that my cab has arrived. They’re nowhere in sight — I’m standing outside the building. I’ve been standing just inside the doorway for the past half hour and have not seen a cab. I call them to ask where they are, why I got the call, and then the cab (finally) shows up at 8:05. So apparently «arrived» means «almost there» and «almost there» means «15 minutes away». Great.
The driver was awesome though, and totally brightened my morning — so 2 stars overall.
This is only the third time I’ve taken Laclede Cab, and they were super timely the first two times — one of which was also booked online the night before. I do like that they have a short phone wait and online booking. But as someone who basically only takes cabs to get to and from medical appointments, ²⁄₃ on time (and 35 minutes late when *not* on time) isn’t good enough.
tl, dr; If you want your 10 minute trip to take 45 minutes, take metro/​bus, it’s cheaper and more reliable.

I find myself repeatedly disappointed with cab services in St. Louis, and Laclede Cab is no different. They advertise your ability to book online, using their app, or Curb (Taxi Magic), but they really seem to be using those apps to create the illusion of service, and to give them a convenient excuse for why your cab hasn’t arrived after 45 minutes. In fact, my last cab was a no-​show for nearly 2 hours!
You can call, which seems to work better when it comes to actually getting a cab, but their tone on the phone is so gruff that they act like you’re bothering them.
So, try to book online and get screwed. Call, and get barked at. Maybe they just don’t want my business…

I had an emergency and needed to get to the airport. I called and requested a cab and moved my bags and myself to the curb in the freezing cold. 30 minutes later, nothing, so I call again. I’m assured a cab will now come. 30 minutes later, nothing.
Third call results in a cab 20 minutes later. Driver could have been a carnie but she missed her perfect career. Car stunk. She was friendly though… if you know what I mean.
I don’t need cabs often. Next time I do, I’m going to try Über instead.

Preface: I am an Über and Lyft proponent. The fact that the Lou hasn’t gotten on board with ridesharing and crowdsourced transportation is both irritating and inconvenient. Thank you, St. Louis Taxi Commission.
In light of this, we called a cab for evening transportation over the weekend. That cab was not from Laclede Cab. That cab also never showed, despite our waiting outside for half an hour. We called Laclede Cab as a Plan B, and I’m glad we did, because they had a driver waiting within ten minutes of our call. The driver was friendly, the car was relatively clean, and he got us where we needed to be: all the things one expects from a cab.
This company will be my first choice for taxis when in the CWE in the future, at least until Über and Lyft are finally allowed.

It’s rare that I’ll use a cab service and it’s almost always a rushed, morning situation.
Given those circumstances, I’m fairly certain that I’m not the most pleasant passenger. From end-​to-​end though, Laclede came through recently.
I needed a pickup in the City and the cab dispatch was quick (within about 5 minutes). Although she didn’t hop out of the car to load my bag into the trunk, my driver was great about handling the one thing that I truly needed: a quick, smooth ride to the airport. The car (a Crown Victoria I believe) was a little worn, but definitely clean with a neutral smell.
At the airport, the credit card machine worked properly and the driver was pleasantly quick about getting me on my way. With rates comparable to other taxi services, on those occasions where one might be needed, I’d give Laclede a call again (or use their STLtaxi app).
