Kenrick’s Meat Market

Great cut of meat! We ordered a small bone-​in prime rib for new years. The cut was superb! They took care of me from order (over the phone) to pickup. This place operates like a well oiled machine. If you need a good piece of meat from a butcher, skip the grocery store and swing by Kenrick’s. Great meat, great prices, great service!

I went to pick up a Turducken Christmas eve morning. When we ordered it we were told it would be entirely boned and each slice would contain turkey, duck, chicken and dressing between each bird. When it was cooked and I tried to slice it, there was a leg and wing buried under the skin on both sides almost the entire length of the bird. When these were removed the entire structure collapsed. The «birds» were not tied or stitched closed on the bottom and all the dressing seemed to be in the opening area and not between each layer so most of it came out while cooking. The structure did have a twine netting around the entire bird but it was loose and did not keep the stuffing inside. Also, to reach the instructed internal temperature, the turkey white meat was a dried out mess and the entire structure fell apart when we tried to slice it. We didn’t get one single slice that contained all three birds with dressing. It was an ugly pile of small pieces of different meats and I guarantee there was nothing more than a small piece of duck and chicken (maybe a breast of each) as best I could tell. And to top it off, the meat tasted old. For $ 125, it was a HUGE waste of money and made our Christmas dinner look like we were serving left overs, never again. Maybe other places know how to butcher and put these together but not this place in my opinion ubless I was terribly misled with the description.

Staff is friendly and store is clean however use caution before buying the packaged meat and eating at the restaurant. I noticed quite a bit of expired meat and chicken on shelves. (Over 4 days expired) I asked the butcher, «hey do you guys throw away the meat that’s expired»? His response was «O no, we cook everything off here and waist nothing». So I wonder is the meatloaf dinner I just paid for expired meat. Come on guys throw your expired food away!

Mother always says, ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” So I will say this: the food wasn’t bad, it was flavorful, but WHAT I had wasn’t my cup of tea. I had pulled chicken BBQ sandwich, string beans, and corn. I appreciate they had gluten free food too! I will keep an open mind on other foods.

We dropped off our game ram meat at Kenrick’s to make pepper sticks and a variety of summer sausages. It was my first time ever doing this– so it was confusing at first, but the staff was very helpful and helped me order the appropriate selection of meats. However, my only complaint is the lack of communication. After 7 – 10 business days, they never called us (as communicated during the ordering process). I had to call and they had not even started the process and said they needed more time. In the end, we have our pepper sticks and sausages and they are delicious! Very happy with the outcome!

The selection is amazing, the guys behind the counter are knowledgeable and friendly, and everything I’ve had from here has been excellent! Wish they would expand — like over to Indy!

This place is awesome! The butcher counter has a huge selection, and they will custom cut your meats upon request/​by phone. The café has some of the best feel-​good food around — especially the COUNTRY FRIED STEAK and gravy!!!

All I can say is wow, this place is impressive. Great food, friendly staff, vary convenient premade meals and I don’t care what kind of TV dinners you like! Kendricks is better. The meat market serves fresh USDA steaks to order. Love this place. I Gave it 4 stars cuz its kinda small and the parking sucks.

Kenrick’s has been our go to spot for quality cuts of meat for years. We’ve purchased from here for a number of special occasions, family get-​togethers, and just to buy a couple things to throw on the grill.
So, when there was an unexpected death in the family, our first thought was to call Kenrick’s to handle the post-​funeral meal. Everyone at Kenrick’s was incredibly helpful with the last-​minute planning. The guys sent to do the tent and table set up were quick & efficient, and the servers during the meal were polite and worked hard outside in the STL heat!
There was a slight miscommunication on our order but management was lightning fast in responding & remedied the problem immediately… surpassing our expectations.
As always, the food was well-​prepared and enjoyed by all. I highly recommend utilizing this gem of a meat market/​catering company whenever the need arises. I know we will!

They catered our «after-​wedding BBQ» and it was fantastic. From the planning to the food itself, they made it easy. Love this place.

I was a first timer here, after hearing countless radio ads I finally broke down and went. Holy choices batman! Unbelievable selection and super friendly and helpful– definitely will be back!

Made the trip to go to Kenrick’s finally. So far I have to give the rating A-​OK. I hate to do that but I have to be honest. I wanted to LOVE it.
The selection of meat is great. So no worries there if you are looking for something to grill. Their deli is also nice. They had all kinds of brands. We went on a Sat., near close at 5:30pm.
Since this was the first time, I got a plain olé’ sirloin which is our steak of choice. It was OK and quality the same as something I would get at the grocery store. Darn it.
I got a lb of the Apple Smoked Bacon. That was good.
I also got some natural casing hotdogs. I have not eaten those yet, but I will edit this review once I try them. (Hot dog update at the bottom.)
Since it was late, we opted to get meals to go. That was a very nice feature for a meat market. My spouse and kid got cold sandwiches. Very good and delicious. My daughter who is as critical as I am with food reviewing gave her sandwich an A++. Mainly because they had sliced provel cheese as an option. I did sample it and the sandwich was «very fresh».
I opted for the «meatloaf». When I see that on the menu, I must get it. Meatloaf is tricky and for me it does point to the «style» of a place. It came with 2 very THIN slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy, and a roll with butter.
The meatloaf was «odd». It was very, very, dense almost like a bread consistency or a pâté. It had celery chunks in it and the pepper hint was a tad too much for me. It was not overly peppered however imo you should not be able to tell if there is pepper in it. Meatloaf should taste like meat. Of course I ate it all, I am a meatloaf connoisseur.
Mashed potatoes were OK, gravy was eh, nothing special. Again a tad too much pepper. I did not eat the roll but it did look yummy.
Next time I go, I will get signature stuff, like stuffed breasts, medallions, etc… I would love to try the coleslaw with the bbq pork burger.
*Natural casing hot dog update.
Editing my review to add update. I was not a fan of the natural casing hot dogs. They were «sour» with regard to taste. Maybe I got a bad batch? I would suggest trying them out first before you decide to serve to a crowd.
Delicious natural casing hot dogs are hard to find these days. There is a place in Trenton, IL called the «Trenton Processing Center» which has the best natural casing hot dogs I have found so far. They call them «funeral franks». I think I will review them. They are that good.

You walk through the doors at Kenrick’s and you realize that you have just entered meat heaven. I LOVE this place for stocking up for a summer BBQ. There are so many great cuts of meat and burger/​brats to choose from. My favorite is the BBQ Pork Burgers, woah baby!!! They are so good on the grill but you have to get the Bacon Bleu Cheese Coleslaw from the deli counter and put that on your BBQ Pork Burger. I swear, it is almost orgasmic. We have made these for multiple BBQs at our house — they are always a hit and everybody raves about them. We have also tried the Jalapeño Cheddar Burgers as well as the Garlic and Onion Brats. Both were good but don’t compare to the BBQ Pork Burgers. The meats are also very reasonably priced.
If you are having a BBQ, be sure to shop at Kenrick’s and send an invite my way!

This past weekend I was deep in South County at Jefferson Barracks Park. After a hard day of Frisbee golf at the park me and 6 other guys went to go BBQ. We needed to stop somewhere on the way home to grab some groceries. I realized we were near Kenrick’s (because of Unilocal!) and decided to go there and pick up some meat.
I expected a tiny little butcher shop but that’s not the case. It’s more like the size of a small Walgreens. When I walked in I was overwhelmed by the meat choices. They had everything from ribs to fish. Each meat had so many different kind of stuffing to choose from.
We ended up getting 14 burgers. We bough the bacon cheddar and jalapeño cheddar.
They also offered pre-​made food which looked amazing but we didn’t get anything – that is for another day.
Everyone was super happy with how they tasted including myself. The burgers were amazing. I will be looking for any excuse to come here and impress guests with some amazing meat.

In the Spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of … grilling! OK, so I’m not so young anymore. And with a few snow flurries melting on my windshield, it wasn’t so springy either. Still, on a chilly first day of «spring,» a glowing grill and smoking hickory chips made a pretty good fantasy. So I decided to make a trip out to K’s, which also gave me the pleasure of seeing the sights on my first trip along Morgan Ford from the Tower Grove Park area all the way out to Weber/​Bayless.
Inside K’s, I found a little eating area associated with the deli along the SW (away from the entrance) wall. Refrigerated cases dominated the shopping area, and I found a fine selection of a.) frozen fish, b.) frozen beef/​lamb, and c.) sausages, and even d.) cheese. From my perspective, the prices were fair but not particularly enticing, especially for the frozen fish. I think I could do as well with careful shopping for fresh. Poultry selections weren’t as plentiful, and most of it was stuffed or coated.
After checking things out, I suppressed my grilling fantasy for another day, and opted for a couple lamb chops for the freezer and German Rouladen (baked @ 350, 40 minutes) for dinner. Ever had Rouladen? It’s sort of like a steak-​umm rollup, in this case beef wrapped around pickle, onion, and bacon, and seasoned with onion, mustard, white wine, and «spices.» Yum.
On the drive away, I took note of the building across the street, where I counted about ten K’s catering vans and trucks, and a big tractor trailer beside the building. The entire operation appears to be larger than I might have imagined from a trip to the store, and I can believe K’s has quite a big catering business.

Kenrick’s is my go to place for meaty catered meals, pre made homestyle meals, and along with my other favorite butcher (LeGrands), the quality and customer service at the meat counter is top notch. I ordered Seafood jambalaya for a Fat Tuesday party and it was a huge hit. Their holiday meals are a big hit too. They could be a bit more efficient at check out, but other than that… Kenrick’s is a meat market and home style catering shop that will always be on my list.

Thank God I gave up the vegetarian thing years ago.

Package of 5 BBQ pork burgers
Packages of 4 brats in these flavors: smoked Bavarian sausage, Chipotle ranch, spinach artichoke, sweet Jamaican jerk, and tomato basil.
Total: $ 29.32. In essence, I fed 25 people for $ 29 with amazing barbecue. Everyone raved about their food.
They also have a million different kinds of pickles, dressings, and various other things like cheeses, side dishes, and desserts. All of the staff were very nice and knowledgeable and illustrated to me the passion and enthusiasm that comes with a local gem like this one.
Aaaand they cater. I need to find an excuse in my life to have Kenrick’s cater an event for me. I don’t care if someone asks me to host a Cat Fashion Show, if it means I get to pick the caterer, I’m all over it.
Definitely a wonderful one-​stop-​shop for all your barbecue needs. Check it out!

I’ve shopped at this market for years and can’t believe I haven’t reviewed it before now.
I love this market! An old fashioned meat market with some grocery items, and an area for prepared foods. Up until recently, I had only bought their fresh, fresh meats. The prices aren’t going to be the cheapest, but the meat is fresher and the cuts more generous than you get at grocery stores. They have a smörgåsbord of lunch meats, bakery breads and rolls are available.
Before holiday weekends, it might be better to visit them a day or two before to beat the crowds and yes, it does get that busy.
Last weekend, Mom and I finally tried their prepared foods. She got their fried chicken dinner and I got the fried cod dinner. Both were wonderfully good. I had a huge piece of cod, along with two sides. Mom’s dinner had two huge chicken breasts. I tried a piece of the chicken and it was fantastic.
If you’re in the area, give them a try. You’ll be back.

When you are buying a «birthday» rib eye, you don’t want it from a grocery store. You want a quality cut of meat from a true old fashioned butcher shop and Kenrick’s fills that need.
I have shopped KMM several times for summer grilling and have been very pleased with experience. So when it was time for the double nickle birthday celebration, I knew I wanted my steak to come from Kenrick’s.
The service here is what all meat counters should be; personalized, professional and friendly. As you stand there drooling over all the beautiful marbleized beef, you hear a cheerful voice offering assistance. Having been raised on a beef farm, I know a good steak when I see one and can quickly pick out the ones I want out of the display. What impressed me about the service is what was given to another customer who had no idea about selection. I listened as the young man explained why he pulled the steaks he did, so the customer would understand and know the next time.
Kenrick’s also has a impressive deli counter of cold cuts and cheeses. Plus, catering and carryout meals.
You’ve heard the classic question, «Where’s the beef». Will the answer is, «Kenrick’s».
