Gourmet To Go

«Would you like lettuce and tomato on it?» This was the question posed to me after…
1) Ordering the Turkey Reuben that two girls behind the counter both said to one another they did not know how to make
2) Watching one of said girls hold my bread up in the air before applying cheese and running it through the toaster twice
3) Fumble over the sauerkraut and proceed to mash it into the bread
4) Let more than 15 minutes elapse between the order and completed sandwich
So «no,» I do not want lettuce and tomato on my reuben. (or… for future reference… ketchup on my chicken salad, mustard in my fruit salad or barbeque sauce on my pizza… oh wait, that’s good sometimes!) So, if that experience wasn’t enough of a treat…
I arrived home to unwrap the sandwich only to find they made it on wheat, not rye. And the kraut was applied full of juice on to the bread, making the sandwich pretty much inedible.

I use GTG for all of my catering needs and I use them a LOT. I have never been disappointed and people love the food. The box lunches are always a hit, and the hot lunches are always well received — particularly the MIXED GRILL. Sandy, the person who generally takes my orders and sees they are delivered on time is amazing too. I won’t use another caterer — I don’t need to!

I am lucky enough to get Gourmet To Go delivered to my workplace once every other month or so. It makes the perfect special lunch treat. I love the steak, shrimp, and chicken with rice combo-​especially with the amazing pink sauce for dipping. Their salads are always fresh and the cheesecake platter is divine. The delivery is always on time.

I went to the ladue store for a half chicken sandwich and side pasta dish and while the lady was making my sandwich, I asked for a better looking piece of lettuce than that wilted, old iceberg piece. She told me that was the best piece of lettuce available, I told her to take it off and the chicken was sliced in half with very little meat placed on my extra ordinary sandwich that had zero taste.
The pesto pasta is good but this place is expensive and I won’t be going back. Ever since they where bought by new owners a few years ago, the place really hasn’t impressed me.

My order was delivered exactly on time and was exactly what I ordered. Packaging was very nice — each box lunch was clearly marked and wrapped with Christmas ribbon (nice festive touch!). My group really enjoyed the food and we had lots of compliments specifically on the side dishes.
Overall, pricing was reasonable for lunch catering. My only wish would be an online ordering option.

A simple catered three sandwich lunch for busy travel group of three was apparently much too complex for this vendor. Flying out on a charter, Tuesday lunch time, we ordered healthy normal turkey breast sandwiches, dry, with no secret sauce or mayo or anything else on the actual sandwich. We also requested fresh fruit. As this was for a private flight, one has to hope the cater folks grasp that extra napkins, hand wipes and a bit more fruit than two tablespoons is ok. The sandwiches were slathered in mayo butter and it was so drenched, the one nappy wasn’t enough to blot it. Of course there was no mustard or anything we requested. They should provide a garbage bag in the future.
Simple solution, from now on, stop at subway on the way to airport. I am sure the folks that prepare this crap have no idea that In flight, picnic or on a boat, or remote worksite, means we can’t run down to the convenience store. If we could, why would we pay for this junk. Duh.

Recieved the carrot cake, chocolate chip cookie, and oatmeal raisin cookie as a treat. All delicious and all natural. Yum!

I can’t believe that the evening employees lock the door as I was walking up to the door last night. It seems like they really didn’t want my business.

I love the concept of walking into this place, ordering, and walking out with fabulous food. The sandwiches, sides, and dips are to die for. I have yet to try their salads; they look so fresh and crispy and I know that someday very soon, I will remember to add one to my order.
Food: two words… Champagne Turkey. This is a sandwich of turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, provel cheese (anything with provel is automatically amazing) and this fabulous champagne mustard all served on a buttery croissant. They also have Thai noodles that are amazing, and their shrimp are HUGE and delicious. Their Taco Pie and Santa Fe dips are not only delish, but they make a great grab-​n-​go appetizer for a dinner party.
The only reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is because it is rather pricey and sometimes the man that works behind the counter doesn’t make the sandwiches fresh. Recently, I ordered a Champagne Turkey sandwich and the guy handed me a pre-​made sandwich in Saran Wrap. Weird. Overall, this place is great.

A ridiculously popular carry-​out food establishment. My mom has scraped many a dinner out of the cold case at Gourmet to Go, and it is often times mediocre at best.
Let’s do a little visualization:
I want you to go back to the last wedding you attended…
Remember the beautiful bride and the dashing groom…
Picture the dazzling lights and thunderous boom of the dance floor…
Imagine the food they served, and how it had been sitting under a pan of heat lamps for several hours… how the flavors were oily and the vegetables overcooked…
That’s pretty much how Gourmet to Go tastes on a regular basis.
Actually, scratch that. We bought a dip and raw veggies tonight and they didn’t even get that right. The vegetables were half-​molded in their little claustrophobic bag.
On top of all that– you walk out with two appetizers and it’s fifteen dollars just dripped out of your pocket onto the floor.
