Have only dropped off items here, so this is not a review about the shopping experience but rather a commentary about the rude reception always received at the back door drop off. Seriously?! I’m making a donation and get verbally accosted by the jerk sorting things because I set my bag«in the wrong area.» I thought the first time was an exception but I was wrong. I’ll go out of my way to take my things elsewhere thank you.

The store itself was fine, but I felt the need to write about the terrible behavior of the man working at the checkout counter during my trip there today. Shortly after my wife and I walked in, a teenaged female employee came out of the bathroom or breakroom crying, and left the store where apparently she was picked up by someone. The man working at the checkout counter spent the next 15 minutes talking at full volume so the entire store could hear about how it’s that time of the month for her and that explains her problems she has been having today, blah blah blah. Seriously this went on for 10 – 15 minutes. It was inappropriate discussion for any venue but especially at work for everyone to hear about. We should have asked to speak to a manager but didn’t. Have kept thinking about his behavior though and what a terrible place it must be to work for the young woman in question. Otherwise I have nothing bad to say about the store, it had a large selection of items and was well-maintained.

I just like goodwill. The online site(check it out if you haven’t they have great things on it!!!) as well as the stores. There is always a nice variety of things. They had a really cute collection of bells so if you collect them. I would run down there… someone who collected bells had obviously made a recent donation. The store was well lit and as organized as I think it could be. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is based on something I observed. A man walked in the front door with donations instead of taking them to the back donation entrance. The staff was a little snippy with him and he even asked how he was supposed to know to go to the back(very nicely). When I left I noticed there was a large vehicle partially obscuring the large sign and arrow indicating where donations should go. I just felt bad for the man as he was just trying to do something nice by donating!

I really like this Goodwill… they have fairly decent furniture items, but my favorite section is the kitchenware area. I love to cook, but I’m not a huge fan of modern cookware… I like to use the cookware my Mother and Grandmother used… the good Pyrex, crockpots, rolling pins, drinkware, heavy pots & pans, etc… The place is well organized, turns things over fairly quickly and the items are priced very well… they even have special deals occasionally. I was there recently and they announced that all of the houseware items were ½ off… I was all over it! Bought five brand new mason jars, two great cocktail glasses and several pieces of pyrex bakeware for less then $ 5.00…now that’s a deal! The staff is super helpful and friendly!

Apparently size DOESN’T matter. For some reason I always have the best luck in this Goodwill. I’ve never actually found something I was looking for at a thrift store, except at this Goodwill. I always see things I HAVE to have. This store is what a thrift store should be!!! Bonus is that the employees are super with it and on top of things. Über nice. The best part is actually their book section! It’s not that big– about the same size as other Goodwills– but seriously, for some reason I always find at least ten books in there that I’m dying to read. I shit you not, I was all pissed off this weekend at St. Louis’ lack of good used book stores, or used book stores period that are open on Sunday. I stormed in here and I swear to God they had three of the EXACT titles I was looking for. They also had a mint condition copy of «50 Shades of Grey»(can’t make this stuff up) for 70 cents. I found it hidden on a bottom shelf, and as a courtesy stuck it in full view on the top shelf. As I walked away from the book section, I heard a delighted shriek from a woman who closely resembled what I will be in about 15 years. If you are going to an ugly sweater party, I think it goes without saying that this Goodwill is your new best friend. Thank you, teeny tiny Goodwill, for making my weekend superb.

This Goodwill was fairly decent. It was clean(and I even had to use the bathroom while I was there. it had been cleaned at some point fairly recently at least). Nice selection, once you weed through the sweaters you’re fairly sure you owned at one point in the 80’s. I went on a nice saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded, no wait at the checkout.
