You can read my glowing review of The Gin Room after attending this event here: It really was a fantastic evening and got me to try a place I probably never would have gone to without being given the opportunity of this event. Too cool! Natasha and The Gin Room have certainly made a couple new fans, and the gin education was great. The Unilocal flasks are pretty sweet too! Already put them to good use!

Fantastic time at the Gin Workshop at Natasha’s Gin Room! We arrived an hour late(mis-read the start time) but everyone made room for us and we wound up receiving our own class from Gin Room owner Natasha! Natasha has an amazing collection of gin and is incredibly knowledgeable. She is a wonderful host and teacher and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening! 5 stars for Unilocal for creating this event and 5 stars for Natasha for being so terrific! We’ll be coming back to Café Natasha to enjoy some middle eastern food and we’ll certainly be coming back to the Gin Room to enjoy some gin, house-made tonics and Natasha’s delightful presence! Special thanks to Aaron B. for accommodating us so graciously even though we were late!

Walking into Natasha’s for this workshop, I was truly a vir-gin. I enjoy a gin and tonic every now and then, but I had no idea how much variety there is with regards to this special spirit. Natasha was a wonderful teacher. Her passion for gin was truly apparent. She she gave us a great background on the way that gin is distilled, the different types of gin, how to best sample gin, and the importance of creating cocktails based on the flavor profile of the gin that you are using. We sampled 3 varieties of gin(all made in the USA!) The first was a citrus-y variety of gin, the second was a more piney-flavored gin, and the third was barrel-aged. I was surprised to find that the piney-flavored gin, the St. George out of California was my favorite! After giving us our Brief History of Gin & providing us with the tasting, she taught us how to make 2 cocktails: The Aviator & the French 75. She even allowed 2 members of our small group to step behind the bar and help create the cocktails which I thought was a very nice personal touch! The small group setting with the 7 of us made for an intimate and truly unique experience. The Gin Girl, Natasha, enthusiastically answered our questions. Additionally, this was the first Unilocal event that I have attended where I felt like I really had a chance to get to know my fellow Unilocalers. Natasha also introduced us to their house-made tonics and provided us with great recommendations based on our taste preferences. I ended up trying the gin and tonic, flavored with the Harem tonic. This consisted of pink lady apples, ginger, and cumin. It was light and refreshing, something that I could definitely enjoy sipping during the summer months. All in all, a wonderful Unilocal experience! Thanks to Aaron for putting on a great event & for sticking around to hang out with the group after the workshop. I will definitely recommend the Gin Room to friends in St. Louis for their workshops or as a place to stop for a fun, thoughtfully crafted, and out-of-the-box cocktail!
