History
Established in 1978.
In the early 1970’s, a group of St. Louis Christian evangelical church leaders felt a calling to find a better way to take care of area seniors and created a not-for-profit corporation. This company searched for the right senior living partner and discovered the innovative LifeCare concept — providing continuing care retirement living all on one campus and in a caring and friendly environment.
On January 24, 1974, the Board of Directors built the Friendship Village community on Olive Street in Chesterfield, MO. The Friendship Village Sunset Hills groundbreaking ceremony took place on Sunday, July 24, 1977, with the first residents moving in on December 14, 1978.
Today, the community consists of 353 independent living apartments, 20 independent living villas, 61 assisted living apartments (Fountain View Assisted Living), and a 118-bed skilled nursing facility (The Village Care Center) all sitting on 52 acres in the heart of South County, Missouri.
Meet the Manager
Brian C.
Manager
Brian has been the Executive Director of the Village since December of 2014. The Ohio native began his career back in high school, working summers at a retirement community as a patient administrative liaison — helping nurses’ aides distribute ice water, make beds and assist with resident dinners. While acquiring a Bachelor of Science degree with an accounting major from Milligan College, Johnson City, TN, Brian worked part-time and summer holidays at Mt. Healthy Christian Village, Mason, OH, in security.
After graduation and acquisition of his license, Cooper joined Worthington Christian Village, Columbus, OH. as an administrator. Now with Life Care Services, Cooper relocated his wife and children to Sunset Hills to lead the expanding community, where the rural nature of the state and FVSH’s park like setting appeals to him. Brian enjoys hunting, church events, coaching football and working with the cub scouts.
