I was involved in a rental car incident during vacation in October 2009 along the lonely stretch of I-​70 in between Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri. I bought rental car insurance and all of that, but as it turned out, that didn’t matter when the bill from the car rental company came due in January 2010, asking for the total value of the car. That same week, I received a post card from Mr. Luby, soliciting his services, and I gave him a call within 2 days of receiving his call. While it was the first legal incident of my life at this point, I felt like he was the only person I could turn to for legal advice. While I did not have the means of flying to St. Louis to appear in court, Mr. Luby conducted consultations by phone, fax, and sometimes email. It was great that I didn’t have to fly to St. Louis and appear in court.
Mr. Luby’s offices are located in downtown St. Louis, MO, but I personally did not have the opportunity to visit, as everything was conducted long distance. Mr. Luby’s professionalism throughout the entire process was great and awesome. While the legal process can be nerve racking at times, it was good knowing that I was in good hands. The first consultation was free, but when we decided to take up his offer for legal representation of my case, the charge for legal representation was substantial, but well worth the expense. Mr. Luby’s rates were competitive and affordable, if you can call it that. Like many professional services around town, it’s there until you need them. The case wound up getting delayed, but eventually settled and I was happy that it came to an end in May 2010 and I could get back on with my life and the traveling. I had learned a very valuable lesson and promised myself not to drive in Missouri until this blemish gets wiped away off my record. Mr. Luby was very accessible via phone, but we just needed to be aware of the time differences between Hawaii and Missouri when we call.
The overall experience was good as it could go. As it was a legal experience that would take time to heal, it was a learning experience that would keep with me to this day, especially when it comes to driving and be mindful out there on the roads. The decision that was awarded in my case was very fair and I didn’t have to pay a single penny to the rental car company. Very professional and accessible in what he does and he does it well.
