Went here for a quick watch battery change. They were fast, and professional. Not to mention he did it for FREE! Talk about good customer service! I wouldn’t have minded paying at all, but he insisted. They also have beautiful pieces in their showcases. I will definitely be back!

I came here to have my watch battery changed. The guy behind counter was so incredibly nice and helpful that I brought in a few items to be fixed and resized. Not only did he fix everything immediately but he did most of it for free. Wonderful customer service!!!

In my opinion, David Kodner is a jeweler who lacks integrity. I spent a great deal of money at his shop and feel cheated. If finding a jeweler you can trust is important to you, I advise you to move on and find another jeweler. I am currently pursuing litigation and will update this review on the outcome of the lawsuit. After reading the other reviews, I am reminded how easily a review can be purchased. Be very careful if you are considering a purchase from this jeweler. The fact that I even have to instigate a lawsuit to return a defective pair of earrings should tell you everything you need to know.

I have purchased several custom pieces in the last year (engagement and wedding rings.) Working with David and his staff has been a delight and could not recommend it enough.

Very cool and knowledgable people and not pushy. I went in and asked some questions and got straight answers and ended up joking/​talking with Chris and David and even a fellow customer (to get a ladies point of view). They did not have exactly what I needed in an engagement ring but, they are going to try and get the diamond then make the setting. How cool is that is this one size fits all world? I have looked at everything from other jewelers to pawn shops to Costco to on line jewelers and, while diamonds are just expensive, I think this place seems to offer the best value and balance between customer service and product and price that I have found so far.

I’ve always been worried about going to jewelry stores, because before I moved to St. Louis, my experiences were always tarnished by high-​pressure sales tactics and such. That was not my experience here at all! The place is small and well-​kept, the sales associate was very nice and did not pressure me at all, and I definitely plan on returning here for all of my jewelry needs! The prices are very reasonable, too – on par with online sellers.
This place preserves the best parts about small-​town, old-​fashioned retail establishments while also having a modern look and feel to it. I can’t recommend this store enough!

Stopped by to fix my husband’s Tiffany chain. Tiffany was estimating $ 150 and at least 2 weeks to complete. So, we decided to try a local Jeweler and we found the perfect one! David Kodner is an excellent local jeweler and so welcoming! Their customer service and friendly business will have us coming back! They fixed my husband’s necklace on the spot at a fraction of the price! Amazing. We’ll definitely come back again for anything and everything we need when it comes to jewlery, watches, etc.

Very nice staff work at the jewelry store. I was promptly greeted upon entering & was told they would be right with me as I could see the 2 stafff at the counter were busy with other customers. It was not 30 seconds later another employee came out to help me. All I needed was 2 watch bateries replaced. I was in & out in a total of less then 10 minutes & to come to find out there was NO charge for the 2 new batteries I had replaced.

We love David Kodners! They treat their customers very well whether you are spending alot or a little on jewelry. We purchased our wedding bands from them. Reasonable pricing. Had a great experience.

I want to start off by saying these reviews are what made me want to get my ring appraised from this place, and now I understand why so many people like it here. I too had an amazing experience I told Chris that I did not want my ring to be sitting at the store for a long time (2 – 3 days) because It made me uncomfortable and so he called me an hour later which was so much earlier than what I expected, all to keep me satisfied. Although, I did not pick up my ring, my fiancé did he also said he is an amazing down-​to-​earth guy and would definitely go there for other things.
Additionally he cleaned my ring, and told my fiancé if she ever wants her ring cleaned, we do it for free how sweet is that and my ring looks so shiny new :)
I’ll definitely be back, Beautiful store beautiful product and great people!!!

I recently visited David Kodner’s while looking to purchase an engagement ring. As I would expect most guys in my situation, I had no idea initially what I was doing/​looking for. When I was there I spoke to Chris, he first told me congratulations on getting to this point in my relationship. I then explained to him a bit about what I was looking for. He showed me a few great options but at that point I was still trying to get a feel for things. I visited other jewelers and then went back to David Kodner’s because Chris was incredibly helpful and not pushy in anyway. I was looking for yellow diamonds which can be more difficult to find. He was able to get some in for me and then went on to explain how the certifications work as well as other very useful information that was helpful, regardless if I bought from them. I emailed back and forth and he was always very responsive and again always demonstrated great knowledge and genuine interest in me finding the right diamond for me to be fiancée. I felt he was entirely honest with everything he told me and not just looking to make a sale.
I did end up going with another jeweler but it was not in anyway due to the lack of service I received, it just came down to price but they were close in that as well. I will most definitely consider them for any future jewelry needs. Walking in their store I never once felt pressured and very welcomed, I would recommend going there to anyone in search of an engagement ring. Even if you have no idea, Chris will be able to answer all of your questions and provide excellent service.

I concur with all of the other great reviews. I had several family rings that I needed to figure out what to do with (sell, scrap, keep), and one that I ended up removing some of the stones from and putting them into a different setting that I wear with my wedding band. Lynne helped me through the process in such a kind and patient way! Also, I bought my wedding ring from a different company, an online company, and Chris helped me to size my finger so that I could tell that company what size I wore. I was nervous to ask, since it wasn’t their business, but he was so gracious about it and helped me out! Such great service at DK. I have only given them about $ 500 of business so far, but they still treat me like a highly valued customer, which is thrilling to me because I am not a high-​end jewelry lover but I want to work with people I can trust. And because of that great treatment, they have a customer for life!

While they made a mistake in not communicating with us, they did go through significant lengths to make up for this.
Immediately after my review, Mr. Kodner wrote me a lengthy email apologizing. The store was even kept open past their closing hour so that my fiancé could pick up the ring after work. Additionally, Mr. Kodner apologized to him in person and refused any payment even though my fiancé insisted. He realized that he had made a mistake and was adamant that he make this a positive experience for us. He only asked that we give him another chance in the future.
We are reasonable people– we were not upset that the ring was late, but that we felt like there was no communication to let us know. That said, I do believe Mr. Kodner realized this and did everything he possibly could to make it right with us. He went above and beyond anything we could have expected. It shows that he takes his customers seriously. We were very impressed with this effort and certainly appreciated the gesture.
Despite the prior issues, I believe that David Kodner Jeweler made up for the disappointments and turned this into a positive experience.

I feel like top notch jeweler is an understatement for David Kodner’s and when other places suggest they are a «personal» jeweler they should really look to this location for the gold standard of personalization.
I recently purchased an engagement ring here and everything about my experience was relaxed, pressure free, judgment free, and 100% authentic care for the product they were selling.
I wasn’t really «prepared» when I walked through the door, but Lynne was so incredibly helpful in finding the right setting, stone, and price for me. She was a pleasure to work with and let me talk out all my crazy thoughts and ideas and provided a tremendous amount of insight about the stones, the settings, and everything else related to the purchase.
I made 3 trips to this jewelers because I couldn’t make up my mind, but each time they were willing to order exactly what I needed, and get there in some cases less than 24 hours. After the purchase they had the ring ready to go in less than 4 business days to help me meet a deadline for my proposal.
If you care about the jewelry you buy, and you looking for a location where the staff cares as much as you do David Kodner is only decision.

I purchased my girlfriend’s engagement ring from Lynne here at David Kodner and, although I don’t have the same experience level buying jewelry as a seasoned vet, I can easily say that this has been, by far, the best experience I have had. From the minute I walked in I felt very at ease. It was almost as if I was a visiting friend rather than a potential customer. They made it absolutely clear that their goal was to help me find the best ring possible, even if that meant not buying from them. Lynne and David spent several hours showing me the in’s and out’s of selecting a diamond. After shopping around at three or four other local jewelry stores (all of them had pushy used-​car-​salesman salespeople) I found that, to my extreme surprise, the prices weren’t really any different than what DK offered.
The free refreshments are nice, the downtown Clayton location is nice, the prices are nice; but with something as important as an engagement ring, my number one concern was finding the perfect ring and pairing it with the perfect ring-​buying experience and that’s exactly what I got at DK. We will be back for wedding rings and all future jewelry purchases.

Just purchased our wedding rings from Chris @ DK and I am thrilled with our decision to do so. My then-​fiancé and I designed my wedding ring from scratch and purchased one of the men’s ring in the store.
We decided to design my ring for multiple reasons, but primarily because I owned a number of old rings from my mother and wanted to incorporate the diamonds from those. Additionally, I wanted one wide band in place of an engagement ring and wedding band. I don’t know if I thought this process would be «easy», but I don’t think I was prepared for how much there was to think about. I had many small diamonds of varying sizes and so the standard designs often didn’t incorporate the diamonds I already owned. When I finally settled on a rough style it took several CAD renditions to finally love the design. I think this was primarily because I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for and didn’t speak the language of the business. Chris was amazing, though. After the first couple designs didn’t meet my expectations he made sure to talk me through next steps and adjustments. Once we got the design right it took about 2.5 weeks for casting and setting and the wait was worth it. The actual ring was a million times better than my expectations. I was so pleased.
My husband selected a tungsten band and it took about four weeks from the date of order to arrive. It came in perfect condition. Chris was really great about helping us understand our men’s ring options and why one would choose a style/​metal over another. I think we both felt fully informed and prepared to make a good-​fit decision.
When we picked up our rings we were overjoyed to learn that we came in exactly on budget. Chris had been great throughout the entire process and made it clear that his goal was to have us end this process happy. Even in the design phase, when I was unhappy with a particular design, I was happy about the process and about the choice of Chris @ DK as a jeweler.
I will absolutely return to DK for future jewelry needs and I would recommend them to anyone who was looking to design or purchase an item.

We just purchased our wedding rings from Chris at DK. We wanted to design her ring to include some diamonds my mother-​in-​law passed down to us. We went in with one idea, and several iterations later came out with some completely different that we still smile at each time we look at the ring. It is gorgeous. All the diamonds are hand-​set and the design is 100% what we asked for and drew ourselves.
Chris was very patient with our difficult desires and provided an excellent product that will last for ever. The entire process was great. I am pleased with both rings and we are even more pleased with the time frame we fit the whole process in to.

Best, most reputable jewelry store in St. Louis. I would never go anywhere else. They are not pushy and really know what they are talking about. Totally unique jewelry priced right.
Even if you’ve shopped other jewelry stores make sure to stop by David Kodners — you won’t regret it. A fantastic experience regardless of whether or not I’ve decided to make a purchase.

Dave couldn’t be better! He is very nice, helpful, and knowledgable. Even though I probably spend less money there than any of his customers he treats me with incredible kindness and respect. Upon my first return, both he and his assistant Abby began calling me by name when I arrived.
He’s inexpensive for jewelry repair. I went to at least 2 places where I was told repairs were inexpensive and Dave was ½ the price!
He also changes watch batteries at no cost to his customers — what a bonus! If that isn’t enough, he donates at least 5% of his profit to charity. His staff is also top notch!

Just received a VERY nice piece of jewelry from David Kodner (ahem!) and I’m very satisfied with his work… getting all sorts of compliments and attention on this piece.
What really bumped him up to a five star review was his easygoing attitude. Went in there to have my ring sized down and he asked the inevitable question, «Did you set a date yet?». Being a tad wedding phobic and way too busy these days to even THINK about picking a date, I immediately tensed up and got defensive. His advice was to stay engaged as long as possible, and to just «enjoy the ride».
So, rather than try to pressure us into getting married as quickly as possible so he could sell us some more stuff, this guy just offers some sound advice. How cool is that? Oh, and the jewelry in his shop is gorgeous, one-​of-​a-​kind pieces, so I assume that I will be coming back to shop anyway :)
