Daniel is the best in the biz. My fiancé’s exact words after having his wedding day suit tailored… «I’ve never had pants fit me SO well in my life.» Additionally, I found Daniel and his wife to be very friendly and accommodating. This place has our business for the long run!

This guy is by far the best tailor in St. Louis. I’ve lost a ton of weight in the past couple of years and brought in some fancy shirts that I didn’t want to get rid of. He took them in and it’s like I have some brand new clothes. I am also getting married soon and he helped me make sure my tuxedo looks absolutely perfect. I asked for it one way, but he shared his knowledge about how a tux should fit, made his professional recommendations… and of course he was right. Top notch service and a super friendly guy. Happy to give him my business when I need alterations.

Daniel and his staff were courteous, prompt, and clear. I dropped off two suits and two pairs of trousers and they have agreed to have them back to me in 3 days (on a holiday week!). Daniel was quite astute with his observations regarding fit and offered up a number of alternatives. A sharp individual doing a sound business.

I had an off the rack suit tailored a little over a year and half ago at Daniel Morgan Tailor and could not be happier. Daniel took everything into account and made the suit feel like it was custom made like the ones I bought in Thailand. I won’t bring my clothes anywhere else!

Excellent work. Took in a trench coat that was probably around 4 sizes too large (hooray for clearance items) to get it trimmed down to size, including the inner removable liner.
Perfect fit, time spent doing the fitting was surprisingly fast, and the cost for the work was more than reasonable.
My previous tailoring experiences were with big chain suit stores, and his turnaround was no slower than I was used to, and his prices substantially more affordable. I was honestly expecting a much higher charge.
Would recommend, and will use again.

Daniel is absolutely superb. I have never been disappointed in his work, and I’ve been going to him for 7+ years now. The reason for the 4 stars (and not 5) is that he isn’t able to do «same day» or rush service (even if you’re willing to pay extra). Most garments are back in about a week. If you are not in a rush to get your garment back quickly, there is no tailor better than Danial Morgan.

Great tailor and shop! I wouldn’t trust anyone else in StL for quality alterations. Daniel is very personable and the alterations are completed just like measured during the fitting — which I have found to be a problem with previous tailors. I really like that his shop is in a diverse neighborhood and that it serves to anchor more businesses to the community.

As a guy on the slimmer side, sometimes it’s hard to get things to fit like you want them to by just buying them at the store. I got into the habit of getting dress shirts taken in to fit better living in downtown Los Angeles, very near the garment district.
I initially thought a move to Saint Louis would mean hauling shirts to LA to get them tailored, but found this spot with a great reco from my fiancée.
This shop is hands down the best tailor I have ever used. Adjustments are precise, done quickly, and at a reasonable price. Daniel talks you through what you’re trying to do to your clothes, and gives you options for what works– ultimately you can make the choice. The quality of the alterations is very high and the service is friendly.

I have an unusual frame and thus spend a substantial sum on alterations. I have visited many tailors and seamstresses in the Saint Louis area (and, for that matter, in a number of US major markets where I formerly resided).
Daniel Morgan is rivaled only by Lorianne Gaddy at the French Laundry in Columbia, MO. He is insightful, precise and knowledgable. His prices are reasonable and his turnaround time is unparalleled. Most Saint Louis area alterations businesses require 10 – 14 days for even simple work. Mr. Morgan completes work in less than a week.
He is easily the best in Saint Louis.

When you are endorsed by Esquire it really means something.
You wouldn’t think to find a tailor like him on the dirty road that is Jefferson Avenue. Walk into his shop and you’ll see that it is cozy and to the point. The walls are lined with clothes because his customers surely keep coming back.
I got a trench-​coat tailored here. He only takes a couple days, maximum a week I believe, and the prices are just as good as some at-​home seamstress.

I have never had to use a tailor before. I’m 5’10 and my pants are always too short, never too long. But oddly enough, I bought a pair of khakis from Gap and they were WAY too long. I couldn’t even pull them off in heels (but I don’t wear heels a lot due to aforementioned 5’10-ness). SO I needed to find a tailor to hem the pants.
A friend recommended Daniel Morgan and the Unilocal reviews were good, and he was close to where I live, so I thought I’d give him a shot. I definitely made the right decision.
I dropped them off on a Wednesday afternoon. Was met at front desk by really nice woman. I told her I needed them hemmed, she asked me if I would like to try them on, I said yes. Stepped into nice dressing room. Came out and stood in front of mirror. A man (presumably Daniel Morgan since I saw no other people there) took the measurement in 10 seconds and said «Ok, got it.» Then I changed, went back to front desk, they told me they would be ready in one week and it would cost $ 20. They gave me a ticket (like they do at dry-​cleaners) and I was out of there. I wasn’t in there more than 5 minutes! They were friendly, polite, calm (I hate going places where the employees are wacky and wound-​up) and quick. They knew what they were doing.
I went back to pick up the pants the following week, again on a Wednesday afternoon. This time I was in there maybe 30 seconds. Same woman greeted me at front desk. I gave her my ticket, she got my pants, I gave her a $ 20 bill and the hanger (i didn’t need a hanger for khakis) and I was out of there. I didn’t even pay my meter because I figured it would be so quick.
And the pants? They fit great! The hem looks awesome and I’m really happy with Daniel’s work. I will absolutely, 100% be going back there for any tailoring needs and recommending others go there as well!

Yes, I am a fan but not a fan of the price. I believe he is on the pricey side of alterations– I think $ 20 for pants without lining to be hemmed is just too much. I’ve already paid for the pants and then to add another $ 20 just makes the pants not worth it. I would definitely call ahead and ask what he estimates the cost will be.
However, if you can afford it go for it! He’s very nice, quality work and has a reasonable turnaround period.

Do you know the plight of the 5’3″ woman? No? Well you need to.
Someone invented womens’ pants to have 3 lengths, petite, regular, and long. Dudes do not have to deal with this bullshit. Dudes get to choose the lengths of their pants. We just have to make do with whatever comes closest to the length we want. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA? WHY ARE MEN IMPOSING ON MY RIGHT TO CHOOSE PANTS LENGTH???
Seriously, annoying doesn’t begin to describe the pain. It basically means that as a 5’3″ woman, I’m too tall for petites, and too short for regular, so when I buy a pair of pants, especially dress pants, I have to get them altered. Every. Single. Pair. Feel free to submit this complaint to any websites featuring first world problems, I don’t even care.
Enter lord and savior, Daniel Morgan. His unassuming shop is located near the intersection of Gravois & Jefferson, and there is always parking out front. You walk in, and you feel like you’re taken to some glorious period before UGG Boots & feather hair extensions. Classy joint, likely too classy for me because I like profanity and using the caps lock. Thankfully, Mr. Morgan doesn’t discriminate, and you are transformed into a person of high importance in his shop. He’s incredibly friendly and very detail oriented, but I guess that’s kind of a given in the clothes alteration biz.
After you drop your items off, you walk back outside and your nostrils are filled with the distinct stench of Lee’s Chicken and sewage, and you are now forced to remember that you’re in south city.
It’s 20 $ to get a pair of pants hemmed, and it takes about a week for turnaround. I’d guess this is likely of any minor alteration. You can call him for a quote, and when you do, he’ll tell you how long he thinks it will take for the alteration.
The quality of his work is VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD. You will likely wear out the item of clothing before you wear out his work.
The ONLY reason I won’t give this 5 stars is because I’ve become kind of a jerk about retailers not using the internet. Just pay some freelancing, sustainable coffee drinking, fixed gear riding hipster a few bucks and they’ll have a simple website for you in no time. I shouldn’t have to look at a third party site to get basic information about you, your services, hours, etc.

I was so thrilled to see this shop open. My son has had two jackets altered, and I have taken three pair of slacks. The shop is spotless, the tailor and his assistant are so very nice and professional, and the work was outstanding. Price reasonable, and turn around time just as promised, which is pretty quick. I’ll definitely continue to take our business to this establishment.

No complaints here. My dress was altered perfectly, the work was completed on time, and cost was about right for the amount of work required ($ 20 for some moderate alterations). The staff is knowledgeable and friendly — I also appreciate that, if you ask for it, they don’t mind giving honest advice on the length or style of the alteration. Location is fairly convenient to downtown offices, so it is easy to stop in over lunch or after work. Lots of street parking makes for a quick easy in, easy out. If I had one complaint, it would be the limited hours of operaion — it isn’t open very late in the evening. This will definitely be my go-​to tailor in the future.

I’ve taken everything imaginable to Daniel since his first week in business. He took a burned-​out shell of a building and created an elegant and respectable little tailor shop with a tiny twist of European style.
Over the years, Daniel has worked on everything from bespoke suits to old jeans to vintage garments for us and everything has been tailored impeccably.
For year’s we’ve told people there’s not a better tailor shop in the Midwest than Daniel’s humble storefront just south of Jefferson and Gravois. And now we have Esquire Magazine’s stamp approval to back up our recommendation.
Best of all, Daniel remains affordable and treats everyone with gentlemanly courtesy.

So, I don’t typically get my clothes tailored, but I recently bought a new suit, and I’m kind of a funny-​shaped guy, long, lean and narrow, so off-​the-​rack suits often look a little goofy on me.
Based on the Unilocal reviews, and wanting to support a neighborhood-​owned joint, I brought my suit here.
Quite glad I did.
They were efficient and courteous: I was in and out with measurements taken in under ten minutes. They turned it around quick: dropped off Tuesday, picked up Saturday. The price was right. And, most importantly, the suit looks good, fits much better than it did straight out of Macy’s.
So if you live in south city (or work downtown, it’s just a few minutes down Gravois), check out Daniel Morgan Tailor. You’ll be glad you did, too.

So, I won’t Unilocal a place until I’ve been there twice. I soo want to use Unilocal to promote St. Louis businesses and I never want to be unfair. But a tailor is different – even though I have only used Daniel Morgan Tailor one time, I had to drop off and pick up, so I think that now I can review this place, without breaking my going-​twice streak, right?
I used this tailor on the recommendation of fellow Unilocaler Jim B., and also becuase I can walk to the tailor from my house (I have a Benton Park bias). I walked over without an appointment on a Saturday morning with two strapless dresses that needed to be altered.
The shop is clean and spacious and bright, and the work space is open so I could see the tailor sewing when I got there. He helped me right away and I was out of there in ten minutes after trying on the dresses for him. Within a week I got a call that they were ready – and they both fit perfectly (and had been pressed). I was happy with the service, price, and timing, and I will go to him without reservation next time I need something altered. Give him a chance, especially if you live nearby.

I promised an update!
Well, wouldn’t you know it, my suit came back fitting me just perfectly. Maybe too perfectly… I blamed my well-​fitting suit on the bride’s garter mysteriously floating right to me at the wedding. I swear I wasn’t even trying!
4 stars remain the rating for Daniel Morgan Tailor for doing such a professional job. I was so impressed, in fact, that I’ve since gone back to get some denim fitted as well as a shirt altered. No need to spend money on a new better-​fitting wardrobe when the clothes I have that just no longer fit me can be fixed. High marks!
