The Food:
To be honest Culpepper’s is know for their traditional/​original wings and that’s all I get here and that’s generally what I am rating on. I do from time to time order other things off the menu and love them but I love wings and this is the best in St. Louis that I have had thus far. I get either Skins and Bones (wings and to skins) or wings and steak fries.
They have really, really good ranch and blue cheese (I have not like blue cheese until I came here. From what I was told the blue cheese dressing is just ranch and then they add the chunks to it when you order. I happen to like that because I hate strong tasting blue cheese dressing) Either way it is great!
The Service/​My Experience:
This location to be honest can be iffy in the day. It seems as if you are treated as if you wont be leaving a tip so service can lack at times but management surely will correct that if you come across it. I did have a really nice experience last night although initially I was upset (but not fuming just didn’t want to wait even though I told them I was okay and left it at that). I ordered online and it said there would be a 20 minute wait. I waited 40 minutes before leaving as I figured it would take a bit more time (even though during this time they are generally not crowded I always allow for extra time). I arrived and was informed my food was not yet prepared. I was polite and said it was fine I wasn’t going to make an issue of it as I was really in no rush. The manager comes up to me and apologizes saying it was a miscommunication with him and the staff so it would be awhile before my order was finished I said it was really no issue, I was upset but didn’t really mind. The manager then stated it would be free and didn’t want this to impact my experience. The meal was only about $ 8 but that did mean a lot to me that they felt they had to fix the situation which leads me to believe they value their customers as sooooo many places seem to not care about customers these days.
Over all I would say I love the food here and the management. This is one of the first places that I came to after coming back to the States from Korea. (I wish they had a military discount that would be AWESOME!!)

I went to Culpepper’s for the first time with my boyfriend, aunt, and uncle. Didn’t have a lot of expectations going in which was probably for the best.
We started with their combo app. Pretty sad little platter — only 4 toasted ravs! Come on. My uncle and I both had the bison burger. It was very average and tasted as though no seasonings whatsoever were used. My boyfriend had the cobb salad, and my aunt had a spinach strawberry wrap. Her wrap actually had craisins in it, not strawberries. Weird. Both agreed their dishes were just ehhh as well.
Service was fine. Our server was very attentive with drink refills which is always appreciated.
Pretty underwhelmed. Probably won’t be back.

Culpeppers is what it is. Its not fancy and its not the best place in the world but the prices are good and you can get a decent meal. The all you can eat fried chicken dinner on sunday is well worth the price but you do have to time it right. We went tonight and while my bf got a moist piece of chicken I got one that had obviously been heated over from lunch and was a little dried out. We did order more and my second piece was much better. Still for all you can eat it was worth the price. They did however stop serving rolls with dinner and you really need a piece of bread of some sort with all the grease. The dinner comes with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy but you can choose other sides. The steak dinner for $ 8.99 on wednesdays is also worth it. It comes with mashed potatoes and a salad but I often get a baked potato instead. I do wish that Culpeppers still had the huge wonderful salads they used to have but maybe someday they will get them back. The staff is friendly and while the place is not fancy its comfortable. We are lucky that our location is not one of the ones they closed recently. We had a wonderful and attentive waiter tonight named Casey and our other favorite waiter is Jeff. If you want a reasonable hot meal its a good place to go. Also try the Culpepper Burger with the herb cream cheese so bad for you its good.

After my wife and I had a not so impressive first visit to the location in St. peters, I was given a gift card from a manager to come back and try them out again, I decided that I wasn’t going to subject myself to a smoking environment again and just complain about it so we went to a location that doesn’t allow smoking.
The service was great, quickly seated and drinks were brought out promptly but the booth and everything about the place felt like it could use a good degreasing. I know I am picky but it felt moist and just gross.
We ordered an appetizer of potato skins and honestly they were not great, greasy and tasted pretty much like oil. I have had excellent none greasy potato skins elsewhere and these didn’t match up.
I got the endless fish and chips and again I understand that the fish was fried but it was soaked with oil. I would rather wait a few minutes longer for them to maybe let it sit on something to drain first.
Needless to say I was again under impressed with our meal and I don’t think I will be coming back unless something drastic changes and they start making great food.
Sorry Culpeppers but I was not impressed.
BTW Our server was good, I felt bad that she had to work there.

In order to post this review I had to give it one star, which it does not even deserve– this is a casual restaurant that I have frequented for years, mostly for nostalgic reasons. Now that I no longer live in St. Louis I had a hankering for it! Unfortunately it is no longer the Culpeppers I knew and loved. The food was abysmal in every sense of the word– and I am not expecting much– this is not a four star restaurant– I get it, but it was hideous! The food, the service– if you are looking in this hood you would do far better at Lions Choice or T.G.I.F. — which ain’t saying much!

Simply Disappointed

This is bad. I stopped in the one on Euclid for lunch last week and ordered a black and blue burger well I guess their idea of blackened is just dumping on lots of garlic salt and a blue cheese spread. It was almost inedible, but I was hungry and always in a hurry. Try Duffs if you want a real black and blue burger. Then I stopped in this week and ordered a Philly cheese steak at the waitress’ recommendation. Instead of chopped up thinly slice ribeye like the menu reads they brought out a diced up hamburger patty w/​yellow cheese. Sorry folks this one is a no brainer. This is where bad food and bad taste go to die.

Fairly average fare at an average price. Nothing special.

I just stopped in here with my boyfriend for lunch. We ordered a burger with bacon, the fiesta wrap, and sides of green beans for both of us.
The bacon was nice and crunchy, but everything else was very sub par (aka the green beans tasted like they had been rolled around grease).
The WORST PART??? A cockroach came out from under my plate. It was truly disgusting and horrifying.
To the credit of the manager, he both comped our meal and also offered us a $ 20 gift card. However, as first time diners, not only did the food not want to make us return, but the cockroach sealed the deal.
We declined the gift card and just left a tip for the waiter.

There’s a reason why Culpepper’s has won RFT’s «Best Wings in STL» so many times. They’re perfect. However, this claim only applies to their original wings with their original sauce. Unsuspecting patrons may try some of the new sauces that have been introducted recently (citrus, lemongrass, etc.) and be justifiably pissed off. If you’re not in the mood for wings, I highly recommend the bison burger with wild rice, or one of their many good pizzas.
I’d give this place 5 stars if they lowered the price on the wings just a bit and redesigned the entire restaurant. Something about the layout of this place has always bothered me.

Not too much to say here. My friends like to go on Tuesday nights for cheapo chicken wangs. The beer selection is adequate, not even within spitting distance of good, but I can always order a Schalfly Pale Ale or seasonal. I pretty much have two options here: grilled cheese, or a spinach salad with chicken on the side in a to go container for my dogs. Why is it that restaurants will happily charge extra to put some chicken or beef or shrimp on your salad or pasta, but won’t decrease the price if you don’t want meat when it’s specified on the menu? Since they don’t — yes, I asked — my dining out ends in a canine bonanza. There isn’t much to complain about here, nor much to ballyhoo either. It’s just a comfortable l’il ol’ bar that’s known in St. Louis for their wings — which I don’t eat.

Culpeppers is a great place to grab a beer and some of the best hot wings out there. I started going there about a year ago and have gotten to know almost the whole wait staff. They do a real good job on making you feel welcome.

Been here a few times. .. most recently dinner on a Friday night. Got clam chowder. Maybe I shouldn’t have, because I’m a soup snob, but I LOVE clam chowder. Didn’t like it. Server offered a sub, so I went with the beer cheese soup. Didn’t like it either. Stopped there on the soup.
Food is OK, just standard bar food, as another reviewer said. But, dang, I may have to try the Sunday all-​you-​can-​eat fried chicken.
Service is fine.

a pretty standard bar. not much seating inside. some seating outside on the corner thats good for people watching.
standard bar food. i dont remember anything about the beer selection. first time I ever had toasted raviolies, a stl thing. not bad.

The hot water is super hot in the bathroom, they are not even playing with the sign.
Food is nothing to write home about but its not slop either. Decent lunch place. Service has been a little slow both times I’ve been there.

Ok, food is average American stuff. It used to be a place called T. Billy Moffit’s Irish Pub and Oyster Bar and I liked it better then. It’s been Culpeppers a long time now. It’s ok for lunch but that’s about it.

Went on a Friday night to taste some of their «world famous wings». Everyone on Unilocal mentioned their amazing sauce so i was curious to see just how amazing it was. It wasnt very crowded. I went around midnight. Oddly enough the wings and sauce were separate from one another. That annoyed me for some reason. I prefer the sauce already on them. Nonetheless, I proceeded to eat them. The Sauce is really good. I probably won’t ever order anything else. The steak fries i got weren’t really good. I ate one and that was it. They also have little signs you can put out if you’re in a rush and need your check in a hurry. Thats a great idea and more restaurants should start doing that. 5 starts based solely on wings. Factor in everything else overall they get 4 stars.

Generally one thinks of Culpeppers for their chicken wings but last night I found out they have and all you eat fried chicken dinner on Sundays.
You get your choice of all white meat or a mix of light/​dark, mashed potatoes, rolls and corn on the cob or green beans. I choose all white meat and the corn on the cob. Apparently the chicken is cooked to order because it took a good 45 minutes to get our food and if it wasn’t for the fact that we were there with a large group of family I might have been upset but we had plenty of catching up to do that helped pass the time.
When the food finally arrived I (who ordered all white meat) got a breast and a wing while my nephew who ordered the same thing got 2 breasts and one wing and my wife who also ordered all white got one breast and that was it. Since It was all you eat I wasn’t too worried and I just asked the waiter to please get some more chicken going. The waiter was nice enough put in another order of chicken for everyone, not just myself.
The chicken itself was very good, nice and juicy and the batter was not too heavy. The breast pieces varied from large to medium but the quality was the same with each piece. Overall it was some very flavorful and juicy fried chicken. The corn on the cob was also good and while the mashed potatoes were good, they were a little to salty. I don’t know what kind of butter they use, some sort of honey butter I presume, but combined with the rolls I was in carb heaven.
I ended up eating three breasts along with my corn, the mashed potatoes and several rolls and it was all very good, it was just the initial wait that was the problem.

So after spending a whole night of not knowing what to do my friends and found ourselves out in west country. Being in unfamiliar territory we found ourselves growing hungry. Maybe it was due to the dangers we faced being lost in suburbia or that we all hadn’t eat dinner yet, either way we ended up at Culpepper’s right off of Olive Blvd.
Well we had pulled into there kind of late. The nice thing about it we were polite and actually apologized for being «those customers» who come in right before they close. Anyways, we pretty much knew what we wanted and ordered right away. Most of all what we ordered were sandwiches so it was easy to make and our food came to us quickly.
The wait staff was extremely nice too. They actually hung out with us as we ate and we talked with them, mostly joking around and making fun of random things, polite conversation type stuff.
The Culpepper’s off of Olive is a great alternative to the Friday’s just on the other side of the parking lot. Culpepper’s is a nice place to grab a bite to eat with an extremely nice wait staff.
