Clayton Car Wash

I have used this car wash for 26 years, but no more. It’s happened before, but I should know better. On this last visit I again had change pilfered. The amount was not large — maybe $ 8,00 in quarters that I had stored in the locked glove compartment, but still… Worse was that the washing process collapsed the hood on my car, and left significant damage after I popped out the large dent. Looking at the dilapidated equipment and general condition of the building, this kind of damage is not surprising.
If you value your car and its contents, I suggest you avoid this car wash.

Just paid $ 18.00 for what I thought was a «full service» (interior/​exterior) car wash. It was by far the worst car wash for the money I have ever received. exterior was streaked, windows were still dirty and to my surprise the $ 18.00 didn’t include the cleaning of the brake dust from the rims (The manager behind the counter said they provide that service for a fee and I should have mentioned to the attendant when I pulled in). Silly me for assuming «Full Service» actually meant «Full Service.» Fool me once shame on me! Never again!!!

I paid $ 28.00 for a full service wash ($ 18.00 exterior, vacuum, wipe down the dash, inside of all windows, etc. $ 9.00 for rainx and $ 1.00 for two air fresheners).
The car was in pretty bad shape inside and out. Needed to be vacuumed and the outside was filthy. The car came out pretty clean on the outside, a little wet in a few places still, a couple smudges on the windows, and some water marks on the rear view mirror inside. The backseat still has a noticeable amount of crumbs/​dust left over, especially near the seat belt clasps, and some crumbs in the cup holder and the vacuum didn’t even touch the area between the seats and the console up front. Not too happy about that.
Overall, the car looks better than it did when I brought it in, if you don’t look too closely. But if you’re looking for your car to feel «good as new» you will be disappointed. On the upside, the service is friendly.

All the washes are guaranteed, so I brought my car back to be vacuumed again. Management was friendly, looked it over and said he would run it through again (meaning they would vacuum and re-​wash a second time). The second time, the backseat, space between drivers seat and console, and other areas looked much better. The cashier told me that when I was there earlier, they were experiencing a «huge rush» so the guys were rushing, which he said was unacceptable.
Props to them for following through on their guarantee, but it was definitely a hassle. I might give them a second chance just for their integrity.

This place is TERRIBLE. Do not waste your money. I am only giving it one star because zero stars is not an option.
I cannot emphasize enough how awful it is. I paid THIRTY dollars and extra for additional vacuuming. The interior surface was still dusty. The floors literally looked like they hadn’t been touched (let alone the extra I paid for). They didn’t even wipe down right where you open the door– still covered in mud. I have rubber floor mats that weren’t touched, and there was still a ton of dirt around the perimeter of the floors, as well as under and on the center. The backseat looked untouched. There is dirt and debris everywhere, just as it was before. Furthermore, they had me take a small stroller out of the hatchback but didn’t even vacuum the floor of the hatchback whatsoever.
On top of the terribly poor quality of this place, the man who I first interacted with when I entered the garage was extremely rude and did not fulfill the package I paid for.
This business is just trying to run as many cars through there as possible, not interested in the slightest of the quality of work they prepuce. It is a RIP OFF and I will never go back there, nor will I recommend it to anyone.
I will be going to Skyview on Olive Blvd from now on and recommending them to my friends and colleagues.

Getting in line was awkward. Building was old. Cashier not friendly. Workers were extremely nice. $ 16.00 for a full service wash was a little pricy. I thought it was worth it but Hubby didn’t. I would go back again.

The building itself is dirty and not well kept up. I can overlook that, but when I drove away in my car I could not believe what I had just paid for. They did not vacuum anywhere, did not get bugs off the windshield, and they did not throw away a small piece of trash that I had specifically put on the seat. Might as well have gone to a gas station for the service I got.

The guy that runs the place is extremely rude. Don’t inconvenience him by bringing your car here.

I’m torn on a rating (2 or 3 stars) for this place as they occasionally do a OK job but never a great job, and sometimes a bad one. The price is higher than their competition and the hours are narrower so that doesn’t help offset anything.
The lack of motivation and care by the guys cleaning and drying the cars is and has been for as many years as I can remember about as low as it gets. There seems to be no management intervention to get their employees to care about they do or show some hustle. Often there are large patches of your car that come out dirty or nobody bothers to walk over to start drying a car until its 80% air dried and water spotted.
I would go here if you have no other options. It pains me to say that they could learn a thing or 10 from Waterway and I’m much more the fan of a small local business. Given the clientele in downtown Clayton and nearby Ladue and Olivette I’m astounded that the effort isn’t put forth to get this crowd rolling in, en masse.

I actually love taking my Jeep here. There are coupons in the Entertainment book that my mom gives me, which makes it really cheap. They do a good job — clean the inside of the windows, dry things off, get it pretty shiny. The workers are always pleasant and fast.
My only complaint is the hours of operation are a bit sporadic. It’s almost like they are open when they feel like it. But when I do catch them open, I like the results.

I usually take my car here when I am desperate for a wash but I’ve got to say they do a TERRIBLE job. My interior always has dust and dirt left all over. Once I got into my freshly washed car and it smelled like fast food. I looked down and there was a piece of someones burger on the floor! Why would you eat a burger while cleaning the interior of someones car? Get on that management.
