Chuck A Burger you are the stuff dreams are made of! If you’re looking for the el’cheapo burger that tastes like a slice of heaven this is the place! In-N-Out burger lovers craving a fix should check this out. Its a bit bigger burger than an In-N-Out but all the factors that make you love an In-N-Out are here. Fresh veggies, great tasting tomatoes, HOT buns and a great paddy of meat all on the cheap. Fries are actually really good here too! Chuck A Burger is on my list of my have food places. I might add this list is a pretty short list. I’ll be back for another Bacon Jalapeño Single with some of that amazing good bacon.

I live in the area directly around Chuck-a-Burger and have now for about 20 years. I remember going there with friends in middle school, walking up there for cruise nights, and being saved by their chocolate malts when I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Their food is great and I’ve never had any issues with it. That’s the reason why I’m so sad for this review. :(It seems that people have had a lot of luck going inside to eat but my family always does curbside pickup. In the past we have had no issues! Just pull up into a curbside marked spot(make sure your car goes over the cable) and one of their nice carhops will attend to you. Simple! Alas, twice now we have gone and literally just were not helped! Plenty of other cars around and we pulled up into the curbside spot and proceeded to wait for about 10 minutes. During this 10 minutes the carhop is helping all of the other cars around us and even looked me in the eye but never came to help us. I even watched them come right out and attend to a car that pulled up as we were leaving because no one would help us! I’m never one to cause a fuss at an establishment because it’s rude BUT I also feel like I shouldn’t have to raise my voice or get your attention to simply be served at a restaurant. Mind you this is the second time this has happened to me! The exact same situation both times. I wanna eat local, I wanna put money into my community, and I want my dang chocolate malts again but I guess that’s only for the other cars and people who go inside. :(

So we went here on a Saturday afternoon after reading about it in an RFT article. It is a drive up diner where you can either go inside or get curbside service. We decided to eat inside. It is a small liter diner with lots of old nostalgia on the walls, reminding you of the days when this type of establishment was more popular. Apparently St Louis had a lot of these Chuck a Burgers back in the day, and this is the last remaining one. We both got a super chuck burger with curly fries and regular fries. We also got some cheese cubes, which are fried little cubes of goodness. Those were so good. The burger patties kind of reminded me of steak and shake patties, but larger. I also got a rootbeer to drink which came in a big frosty float glass. All in all everything was really tasty and we left with full bellies. The service also was prompt and the girl who was our server was really nice and cheerful. We plan on coming back here because we like the atmosphere, the food was delicious, and it never hurts to support local businesses.

Cheap prices, flavorful food. Service is average to below average. Lots of parking, not many places to sit inside. Curbside and the to go parking is nice. The shakes are flavorless however. I enjoy the place for what it is. Always come back at least once a month.

Old school drive-in, greasy spoon diner, eat at the counter with the rest of the lunch crowd. Flat top burgers and killer root beer in a frosted glass, delicious

Ordered the Double Combo and Toasted Ravs. The service was great. Real friendly and quick. The burger was greasy and hot and had cheese melted all over it. I can’t stop dreaming about it. The fries are along the lines of McDonald’s fries. So thin cut, crisp and salty. The toasted Ravs were quite tasty as well. It can hold its ground with any other in the city. I can’t believe it took me so long to get here. I just wish it was a little closer to home.

I’ve had the melts and fries and they are good, not great. About the same quality as a Steak ‘n Shake but not as good as some diners I’ve been to. The one aspect that made me give 2 stars to this establishment was the rude demeanor of the owner. I parked in the handicap space on accident, and when the owner confronted me about it I apologized and began to get up and move my car. He proceeded to tell me «Well there’s 4 signs out there and if you don’t move it I’ll make sure you get the $ 250 fine». Do you want me to eat here sir? Initially I did not know this man to be the owner until I moved my car into the curbside service and asked the water who he was. Won’t be getting my business anymore. Service was great the two times I’ve been but the owner was very rude and condescending.

I love you Chuck-A-Burger. Steak’n’Shake got nothin’ on you! Fries are awesome, cooked right and not super greasy. They have that fine salt coating but not too much. The Double Chuck is just right, every time. The pickle slices are always big and cover the whole burger. Tired of chintzy chicken strips? Ditch the other places and come here; they’re of good size and not just a chunk of breading. Please don’t ever change Chuck-A-Burger.

This was a cute little quaint diner. Inside is a tad on the smaller side decorated in all vintage 50’s/60’s décor with music playing to match. The food is typical diner food, similar to Steak ‘n Shake, but felt it was better quality food. Hubs had a double burger with curly fries. I had single burger with cheese curds and ranch dressing. We both finished it all and we rarely do that. The cheese curds were so creamy and good! On our way out we ordered a cookies and cream shake to go and it was amazing! Real icecream and Oreos. We finished a large between us. The waitress was prompt and the shouting to the kitchen for food orders was pretty my neat to see. We would definitely return!

Came here on a Sunday after 3pm, fast and friendly service. Great place for good ol’ fashioned hamburgers, fries and shake! Sometimes simple hits the spot. ;-)

1. Root beer in huge frosted glasses. They are also awesome enough to throw a diet soda in for me when I ask :) 2. Delicious burgers and fries. 3. Price is a bit higher than I like to pay for a burger, but we will pay for the experience when the craving hits! With a soda and a burger, expect to pay about $ 25 for 2 people.

Have been going here for years. Started coming to car cruises years ago and still like to take our Camaro there and eat outside when the weather is nice. Love the BBQ Chuck with coleslaw. Drive there because I get a craving for it. Really good milkshakes too. Friendly waitresses and good service. Curb service also.

When you pull up, you have a choice, you can eat inside or have curbside service and eat there are take it to go. Just like the good old days for most old timers, like Sonic for new comers… LOL I have been here before and I had the triple cheeseburger. I’ve enjoyed this the burgers they are pretty good, reminds me of Steak N Shake burgers. i always like supporting the local restaurants so I believe these are just as good. I am trying the the«Double Patty Melt» with Onion Rings and a Strawberry Shake today. The Patty Melt was pretty good, it hit the spot for me and for a diner it was good, this is not a gourmet burger, but still good. I love the Onion Rings they were nice and sweet onions with a great crunch on them,. My Strawberry shake was a bit of, I enjoyed it. Like I said this food is just like a drive up diner food, nothing gourmet about it, but hits the spot and satisfies the appetite. I hear the Chili and Tamales are good, so I will be back to try those items! Not a whole lot of seating on the inside for large crowds but for four or less people I think it would work out well. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the food and people watching. I will be back, decent service, but don’t be in a hurry!

This burger joint is neither especially good nor especially bad. It serves typical burgers and fries, and they were good. That’s pretty much it. Maybe slightly overpriced for what it is. The place is kind of cool. And the server was nice. Pretty basic, straightforward review for a basic, straightforward burger joint.

Had a melt, the onion rings, and chili cheese fries, didn’t feel very satisfied… food was right on part for drive in fair but lacked really any sort of flavor. Also 24 $ for 2 melts fries and onion rings seems a little… a lot steep to me. Not bad but nothing to write home about.

Tasty food and great service. This place is an institution, glad to see they’re still open! Had the single chuck with cheese and bacon, fountain coke with cherry syrup and split onion rings and cheese cubes with my sweetie. He had the blt. Not health food but that’s not why you go to Chuck-A-Burger!

We like this little old-fashioned drive-in. It’s not far from my fiancé’s parent’s so when we’re visiting StL we usually stop in for a malt or a milkshake. I don’t know that anything here is going to put them on a Food Network or Travel Channel show, but the food is good, exactly what you would expect, and the atmosphere is pure nostalgia.

A great, classic diner burger. Toppings(tomato, cheese, grilled onions, etc) do cost extra but prices are more than fair especially if you get the value meal. The regular fries are decent, but their curly fries are fantastic. They also do soda flavorings(vanilla/cherry coke, etc), which are great. Inside, it’s rather small but the décor more than makes up for it. The counter(and stools) are quite low, which would be great for kids. The servers are friendly, and you can order take out from the curbside!

I was born in the ‘80s. It was a decade of neon colors, cassettes, VHS tapes, questionable fashion choices, and big, crunchy hair. I might have been raised by parents who grew up in the ‘50s, but I don’t know a damn thing about the«classic diner experience.» Chuck-A-Burger has been«cruisin’ since 1957.» Maybe this place will evoke in you a sense of nostalgia for poodle skirts and sock hops. Maybe it won’t. I wouldn’t know. I’m from a different time, and I was just here for the food. It’s a strange little place. For curbside service, park in the designated spaces against the building. Someone will come to your car to take your order. If you want to dine in, park in the lot on the southeastern side of the building. That’s what my husband and I did. We were the only dine-in customers at 12:15 on a Saturday. That scared me, but by the time we left, 5 or 6 other people had joined us. The dining room isn’t very big. In addition to a few small booths and four larger booths, Chuck-A-Burger has a counter with the shortest barstools I’ve ever seen. I imagine this might be the perfect place for a group of burger-lovin’ toddlers to enjoy a night on the town. :p Apart from an order window, the dining area appears to be completely separated from the kitchen. A waitress will take your order and then will call it out through the window. All food and drinks are passed to the waitress through the window. Our waitress was not exactly amiable, but she was attentive. The latter trait is more important to me. For the majority of our visit, she faced the order window and kept her back to the patrons. Yet, she somehow knew when we needed refills, when we had finished our meal, and when we needed our check. She either has eyes in the back of her head or is magical. Either way, I feel sorry for her kids. I bet they never get away with anything. The food was good. It’s a burger-and-fries kind of place, but the menu also includes chicken strips and a few salads and sandwiches. I was tempted to pay homage to my childhood by ordering Frito Pie, but that just felt wrong at a place with«burger» in its name. I compromised by ordering the Chili Cheese Chuck with a side of curly fries. The husband ordered a plain double with regular fries. We both agreed my curly fries were the better fries of the two. I really liked them and probably could have made a meal off of them. Believe it or not, this was my first time to order a burger topped with chili and cheese. It was okay, but I wish I had ordered a regular burger There wasn’t anything wrong with the Chili Cheese Chuck. It was served with just the right amount of chili and cheese, and all of the sandwich components were tasty. If you like this kind of thing, you’d probably enjoy this burger. It just wasn’t my style, and I’d definitely order something different next time. Overall, the place looks a little run-down to me, but in the real estate world, I believe they’d call it «charming.» I don’t know if you’ll get an old-school diner experience here, but with good food and service, Chuck-A-Burger is A-OK.

Here’s a place that takes you back in time. If you want to know what life in the 50s and early 60s(minus the controversial events) was like, you’ll get it here. Food and service is also done the nostalgic way, which is good. Unfortunately, the food was ‘alright’, which is not really any different from, say, Steak ‘n Shake. But I loved looking around the mini-museum. The place also has some interesting history behind it. My mom told me at one time, there were many Chuck-a-Burgers around St. Louis. This is the only location still standing.
