Blooms In The Loop

I go here every now and then to buy a «celebratory» plant when something good happens. To be fair, this place sells top quality plants. I’ve bought so many from Trader Joe’s and Walmart that have died within a few months, but everything I’ve bought here is healthy, blooming and twice as big in a year.
This review is more about the male owner of the place. He’s really rude, which has made me on more than one occasion feel uncomfortable. His attitude ruins the fun experience of picking out a buying a new plant.
An example: I went in and bought a cactus and gave him my debit card. He says, «Can I see some ID?» I’m not at a traffic stop, I’m in a floral shop. And I’m buying a $ 30 cactus. With a debit card.
I also went in one time and was admiring a cactus that was dropping «pedals» and seemed to be dying. It was beautiful, but I didn’t want to buy a dying plant, so I gently touched it to see if it was firm. The man snaps behind the counter, «Do me a favor and don’t touch that. See those pedals on the ground? Every one of those is where someone touched it.» I left and don’t intend to go back. (I mean, Jesus. Just put up a sign or something?)

Had flowers delivered to my friend. I specifically asked to make it the last delivery of the day in late afternoon. Wanted to surprise her after she got home from school. Instead they start trying to deliver in the morning when she’s at school and they call her all day to try to coordinate delivery (end of surprise). They finally reach her and tell her they are closing at 3pm so she needs to pick them up by then. She had to leave school and go find the place to pick them up. Glad I paid the delivery charge! And they spelled my name wrong on the card (nice!). In the unlikely event I send flowers to someone in St. Louis again I would not use them. The flowers looked fine, but screwing up the delivery defeated the purpose.

After searching everywhere in the city for purple tulips when they are not in season this place specifically went out and found them for me. Completely made my day. I won’t go to anywhere else in the city. They are very friendly and go the extra mile to make your day.

This is by far one of the best florists I’ve ever used; as irony would have it, I’ve never even stepped foot through its doors.
I needed to order flowers for my Cara Mia’s birthday after she just moved to St. Louis, and as luck would have it I picked Blooms in the Loop. The nicest gentleman answered the phone and began to work with me, as the blind was leading the blind, as to where the flowers needed to be delivered. I gave the gentleman the address and he wasn’t sure where the apartment building was located. He was asking me, but I’d had no clue because I hadn’t been in St. Louis since 1996. I gave him some of the major landmarks like Forest Park and he somehow manage to decrypt where her new home was.
The customer service was so phenomenal he even agreed to personally deliver the flowers on his way home.
After, I saw pictures of the bouquet they put together; it was absolutely spectacular. I couldn’t have asked for any better of an arrangement. The flowers were beautiful and fresh; most of all, the recipient absolutely loved them. If the time were ever to present itself again where I would need to send flowers, I would definitely use this shop again. They bring true credit to their profession and truly are masters at the art of floral design.

I’ve been known to be a serial plant killer. Things that grow in my house tend to die off in a few days. I don’t think it’s my neglect that kills them. I think it’s my influence from the Dark Side that scares the life out of plants.
However, I did buy myself a bamboo plant a few years ago for an apartment I just moved into. The store keeper showed me how to care for it, and gave me some tips on keeping my pet bamboo as low-​maintenance as possible.
In that time, I’ve bought some accessories for my bamboo pet. Like a few rocks here and there, and I’m currently considering getting a bamboo friend. I’ll need to get a bigger cage for them, but they have a collection of vases.

I love little boutique flower shops.
This is one of the firsp places in St. Louis that sold bamboo plants when they were all the rage a few years back. They still have tons of bamboo options displayed in the front window.
They are a typical florist shop in that they offer a variety of fresh flower arrangements. But they also offer silk arrangements, dried flowers, fruit baskets, plants, cards and candles. They’re right next to the Tivoli in a great part of the Loop.
