Very nice Barnes and Nobles. In a kinda bizarre area with not much else in that shopping center. I went in for a St. Louis map and they had several options. There were a bunch of nicknacks too, but everything was nicely organized. And their Valentine’s Day cards were wonderful!

I frequented this location many years ago because at the time, I liked it. Later, Borders opened closer to me and I stopped going to this location because I thought that Borders was a better location and a better store. Later, when Borders closed, several of the former Borders employees were hired and began working there. I liked that until they slowly disappeared. They hired new employees who are, quite frankly, obnoxious and annoying. So I stopped going to this location and to B&N in general. Recently, I returned to this location and their obnoxious and annoying employees are still there, which really annoyed me. Their selection of bargain discount books are good as long as they have what you want, and the non discounted books are usually everything that a bookstore should carry. So their selection of books is not bad. However, the Starbucks coffee inside the store is outright annoying because the sounds of coffee shop stuff can be heard all the way across the bookstore. That’s really annoying. And that with those annoying employees really turns me off to this location. I really miss Paul’s Books and Library Ltd. a lot. They were so much nicer and better as independent bookstores than this B&N location.

We have been shopping at this location for years. We have twice encountered a rude employee and guess what? Same guy(Michael) both times. Looked to send comments on the B/N Website but apparently they aren’t interested in teachable moments. Miss Borders great customer service and many of the independent book stores that have closed like Library Ltd. Thank goodness for Amazon and Left Bank Books.

I love this B&N. Always have to pass by when I hit up the Old Navy next door. Of course it has the Starbucks factor and this B&N is always clean with someone ready to help if need be. Star lost though for comfort factor. Maybe its the size but this B&N doesn’t have the random nooks to read in or browse comfortably in on the floor. This is important because unless its a gift or on the bargain shelves I am not going to buy anything here I can’t get on Amazon cheaper :-)

This Barnes and Nobles was very well kept and busy! The employees were extremely helpful when I needed help finding some books. The weird thing was there was no music. I usually like a book store to have some soft background music to drown out some of the noise. I enjoyed my trip to this store and will definitely visit again!

Patience is a virtue and it is one I do not have. Sometimes when I want something, I don’t want to wait. I want it and I want it NOW. I’m starting a low-carb diet and was wanting the New Atkins book and cookbook. Sure, I could have gotten on the internet and ordered it from Amazon at a cheaper price and waited a week for its’ arrival. However today, I was able to walk in to B&NB, get both books, not pay shipping and start reading tonight. The store is easy to navigate. If you know the type of book and category it would be located in, it should be an easy find. I found my books with ease. My cashier was friendly and tried to sell me their frequent shopper/readers card. It offers some nice perks, but for me the $ 25 annual fee wasn’t worth it. If you’re a true bookworm, it would be a bargain.

Yanno, having been to Barnes and Noble stores across the country from Michigan to Tennessee to Wisconsin to Colorado and beyond, I thought all B&Ns looked the same from the outside. But lo and behold, this place has a 70s-era storefront whose architecture belongs more in New England. Anyway…you probably don’t give a damn about that. Just saying that I nearly passed the place as I was looking for it b/c it lacked the early ‘00s stone façade out front that I’ve seen at every other B&N I’ve been to. Otherwise, well, it was your typical chain bookstore experience. I couldn’t find any chairs anywhere in the store where you could sit and relax(apart from the attached café), which I recall at all other B&Ns I’ve been to. Oh well. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s because some snooty asses in Ladue have a city statute against public/“non-paid-for” indoor seating areas to keep out«scawerry vagrants» or something. The store was definitely cramped. I eventually found what I was looking for in this time-warped B&N, and left. Store associates were VERY helpful, store was clean. Overall«A-OK» experience.

Good place to come catch up with friends or do some casual reading. The café was a bit chatty the Sunday afternoon I was here, so I recommend bringing earphones if you plan on studying here. This is basically a Starbucks, but the extra nice part about it is that it’s in a bookstore, so you can sit down and start reading your books right after you buy(«buy» lol) them. It’s also on the corner of two big walls of windows, so there’s plenty of natural light, which I always love to have when I’m trying to get work done. There’s lots of seating(at least 15+ 2– and 4-top tables), so you don’t have to feel bad about taking up a big table and spreading all your work out. PS The cashiers are hard salesmen; don’t get tricked into getting a bigger sized drink than you need like this sucker did. You won’t drink that extra bit even if it’s only 30 cents! When will I learn?

It was an erie place. No music, no noise other than the muffled conversations of the few shoppers. Odd

Quite honestly I had never stepped into this location until I started working in Clayton… but now I can’t pass by it without stopping! The store itself is laid out pretty well and you can usually find what you are looking for in a jiff. The staff is always willing to help but you have to seek them out, they have never asked me if I needed assistance. That is one major turn off. The location is superb but be careful in the parking lot. It is kinda cramped.

It was really crowded when I was here today – it seemed every corner you turned, there was someone random sitting at a table throughout the store. The organization didn’t make much sense to me, and I found the languages section lacking. Otherwise this store seems okay. Nothing special.

It takes a lot to piss me off. A LOT. And yesterday at Barnes and Noble, I reached my breaking point. But first, a little background. In an effort to stop eating out so darn much(and hey, let’s be honest — I’d like to drop a few el bees too!), I came here to purchase a cookbook that came highly recommended. I usually buy all of my books online, but after seeing the demise of Borders, I thought I’d try to support a brick and mortar establishment. I walked in and immediately found the cookbook I was looking for. No problem there. However, if I would have needed help, I would have been SOL; I didn’t see a single employee on the floor. I walked up to the register to pay for my book. The man working the register was assisting another woman with finding a book. Well, if you can call it ‘assisting’. Their conversation went a little something like this: Customer: I’m looking for a book that’s on the best seller’s list. I know the author’s first name, but not the entire last name. I know it starts with the letter«B». Asshole Employee(AE): I need more information than that. Customer: *pauses to think* AE: Listen, I have other customers. I need more information. Go to customer service. I was in SHOCK. Shock! He was extremely rude. I couldn’t believe it. I gave him my book, he scanned it, gave me my receipt, and walked away. Didn’t greet me, didn’t say a SINGLEWORD. Didn’t even make eye contact. Looks like I’ll be returning to Amazon from now on. At least I can say I tried.

I typically don’t review chains because… well, it’s self-explanatory. They’re all the same. This BN, though, is particularly great. The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is great. I often find myself here wandering the shelves– the staff lets me be but is also available for questions. One particular visit I was looking for a book to give all my roommates– we ended up with three staff members helping me decide because I kept wanting to hear more options and what they thought about the books. That’s really what I enjoy– the people working there actually know about most of the books and can give actual feedback on purchases. Great job, BN!

Confession: I’m more of a Borders girl. Really, I’m more of a Subterranean or Left Bank Books girl, but this B&N has free story time for the kiddies(Tues. and Friday mornings at 10) and a super fun kids’ section in the back of the store! Why didn’t I know about this when the weather totally sucked and the U. City story time was on hiatus? Really, though, this B&N has a nice story time. The kids sing songs, they enjoy a couple of books, then they get to color for a while, all the while surrounded by colorful children’s books and cuddly storybook character toys. It’s a great free service – unless you get suckered in to buying said books and toys. Oh well, even little guys deserve a treat now and then!
