History

Established in 1988.

Bader & Sons Co. was established in the summer of 1988 by James E. Bader and his wife, Valma, when they purchased the St. Louis location. John Deere Farm equipment has been part of the Bader family for four generations dating back to the 1930’s. It’s been a long tradition in the Bader family to provide customers and friends with quality sales, parts, and service for over nine decades.

After growing the business from a handfull of employees to over 20, Jim Bader passed away in March, 2000 from a fast growing cancer. Valma, Paul, and Mark Bader took over the reins and continued to grow the business. Over the next 5 years we added 4 more stores; two locations in Portland and Grand Ledge purchased from John & Shirley Lich, one in Linwood from the Gettel organization, and a new start-​up in Mt. Pleasant. In March of 2009, Bader & Sons Co. decided to further expand by acquiring the Hoyt E. Weylan dealership in Tecumseh, MI. Shortly after the new purchase, in the spring of 2009, tragedy stru
